A surprise treat during a busy day. Ice was the perfect consistency, the syrup was the perfect amount and a great flavor, not just sugar water. Not New Orleans, but as close as I have been able to find here in Maryland.

We got here at 8:30 pm and the place was deserted. Probably because they close at 9pm. Poor guy waiting in the truck by himself. He was very nice and informative. We asked what the difference between regular shaved ice and Hawaiian snow and he says that it's really the sauce that go on top of the ice. He states it's more milky. We don't know if that's true but there you go :) We got the guava flavor and I don't really taste the huge difference between shaved ice and Hawaiian snow. The difference was the how fine the ice was shaved compared to regular shaved ice. I bet the atmosphere here is pretty laid back and fun if there are other people around. Owner was creative with the holes on the table where your container of Hawaiian ice can sit in while you devour it. ;) It's really not bad at all, so I would recommend it on a really hot day.

We were there at 8 pm & it was about to close. Even though we were late he was so good, very friendly served us with pleasure & waited for us while we were eating. Not sure about timings but I think they are open until 8pm everyday except Sunday.

    Bear the Friendly Owner :)

I got pina colada, passion fruit, and POG (pineapple, orange, guava). They all tasted like chapstick. Never again.

Ask the Community - Bears Shaved Ice

Where is their most up to date location?

Idk there most up to date location, but I often visit the one at the clarksburg premium outlets. Enjoy😉

Does anyone know where Bears Shaved Ice is? They were not at the Darnestown location. I went to the address shown online, next to the Sunoco, and there was a BBQ truck there, not Bears.

On Darnestown road, just move forward few feet (200 feet) from Gas station(don't stop at gas station). You will notice a vehicle right side in a building premises.

Their…read morefood trucks don't often make it deep into Howard County, so we watch their weekly schedule on social media. This time, (Apr 2026), the "big" one of their two food trucks was among the dozen vendors invited to Food Truck Friday at the Elkridge Volunteer Fire Department. This larger Catalyst truck serves their full menu: dogs, smash burgers, chicken sandwiches, fries, soft drinks, and more snacks, sides, and sweets. Their menu has ten dressed dogs, vegan dogs, and fourteen toppings for build-it-yourself requests. There are combos that save you a few dollars. Ok, usually, they have those soft beverages, but for this event, the VFD is the sole beverage-seller, at good prices, as a bit of a fundraiser. Of course, we get Catalyst's Chicago dog! Tyler always has poppyseed buns he makes from fresh-baked rolls! They make a perfect mix of toppings with genuine short bitey sport peppers, bright tangy relish and a pickle wedge, fresh dense juicy tomato chunks, bright chopped white onions, good old yellow mustard. Every bite is a delight. Find a Catalyst Hot Dog truck. Get one of the best dogs in the area! For those who wont get to Chi-town any time soon, dive into this Chicago dog. It's authentic! And while that's our go-to, we admit we're coming back to try other vendors at Food Truck Fridays at the Elkridge Volunteer Fire Department! But most of all, we're looking forward to Catalyst Hot Dog's brick-and-mortar opening in Burtonsville in the fall of 2026! Oh, and a pro tip: If the listed hot-dog event is at a smaller venue, call that venue ahead of time. Sometimes the events cancel or change dates without enough notice for Catalyst to post about it. Please don't ask how i learned this ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Ordered my fav vegan dog with cheese (i know! lol) & a vegan Chicago dog. I was only able to eat one lol Service is always awesome. Definitely check them out! They have plenty of options on the menu from a variety of hot dogs to nuggets, burgers, fries etc. Congratulations on the upcoming store front in Burtonsville. Whooooo-hoooooooo!!! Happy Yelping!

Yes, he also owns the last truck in line (yellow) which I suppose is the same quality food but rarely has a line. The first truck has the most traffic as you can tell by the crowds and the dirt patch out front. That should tell you something. None are bad, but I have had burritos & tacos at Roberto's and at the Puebla and Puebla's are significantly better. Do a head-to-head comparison...the tacos are only $2! You can get one from each truck. Here's the run down on the Puebla's food... The carne asada is killer! Get it in the tacos or the torta. You get some tender flavorful beef with fresh toppings. Anyway...tacos in beef or pork, you can't go wrong! The chicken seems dry in the tacos but it is great in the burritos. The chicken burrito is the bomb. I am always amazed how heavy the thing is when they hand it to me. For $6 they cram a lot of goodness in there. It has great flavor and is as big as a fully packed Chipolte creation. For some reason I don't like his carne asada in the burritos...I tend to find more tough pieces in a burrito, that I have no issue with on the taco. Go figure. If you like it spicy, ask for it very spicy! They have this really hot sauce they'll give you a cup of on the side that is delicious...it is different than the standard red or green sauce. The tortas are excellent. There is too much mayo on there for me so sometimes I have them skip the mayo or add cheese....you get a carne asada torta with cheese and you know what you have? A mexican cheese steak! It's great. Flavorful beef, avocado, hot salsa...delicious. The quesadillas are good if you like that sort of thing. I think they are kind of plain in comparison to the other items, but the quality is good. My kid likes them. The puppusas are good as well, but there are a lot of "pupusarias" in the area that do just as good of a job. The "pitchman" out front of the Mexico Puebla is the owner. He speaks perfect English and is a really friendly guy. Talk him up and he'll tell you his life story. He says his tacos are "the best!" and he's right. ;) Puebla was the first cart there 9 years ago. He used to run out of a little hot dog cart with his wife selling hamburger, hot dogs, tacos and burritos. The mexican food far outsold the standard fare so he saved up and bought a truck. Soon the success caught on and another truck or two showed up. He put a second truck in line because he was losing a lot of business since people passed one of the new trucks before they got to him. Anyway, that is some history for you.
