This is a nice place to bring the family or just come here on a whim like me and grab some quick ice cream. The presentation of the vanilla on cake cone dipped in rainbow sprinkles is cool. I got a sundae because I never had one I. My life but this was awesome. The pricing is reasonable with inflation and they do that credit cards. I thought they only accepted cash, but they took credit cards. They have picnic tables on the grass area. Not a huge location but it does hit peoples needs. Parking can be a bit tight if there are a lot of people but it's usually rush a

A wonderful local spot for ice cream! I tried the flavor of the week - huckleberry. It was amazing! We went on a weekday after lunch and there wasn't any line at all. Service was great. There are some tables outside. Highly recommended!

I'm so happy Jimmy cone is open. It's on its spring hours so I went on Sunday afternoon. It was pretty crowded with a long line that moved fast. I tried the sugar-free raspberry soft ice cream and the vanilla custard. Hands down the vanilla custard wins. It's so creamy and went well with the brownie boat with yellow cake w hot fudge, it was so good. I can't wait to go back.

We finally made it here after years of hearing about this place. We thought that on a Thursday night (May 25) at 9 pm, it should not be busy, right? Wrong. The parking lot was packed, but we did get one of the last spots. The parking lot is a little hairy, not the best layout. There were about 20 people in front of us, but the line moved pretty fast. The kids working there are so pleasant and friendly, and they definitely kept the line moving. We both got a medium - 1 orange and 1 orange/vanilla twist. Medium is more than enough. Maybe we will try small next time. The ice cream is very creamy and rich, and a little on the heavy side. Overall, it was a great experience, and we will return.

One of the nicest ice cream place in Maryland. With great soft serve ice cream and friendly staff.

Jimmie Cone is a throw back to the seasonal ice cream shop that could be found in small towns. I've passed it so many times, and finally decided to stop by. Jimmie Cone is well worth the trip to end the night. Plenty of traditional flavors that come from soft ice cream machines. It is easy to find and has plenty of outdoor seating. Love the atmosphere it still brings.

Honestly, this place was a bit of a let down. We were really hoping to find a good nice cream place but Jimmie Cone did not fit the bill. We ended up tossing out half of our order because we just couldn't stand to finish it. Highlights: the serving size was large (but that doesn't mean anything if it tastes bad) and the service is really nice. What we got: Strawberry cake boat (chocolate and black raspberry ice cream) - 2* the lure of strawberries was what won us over on this one. We were very disappointed to find out it was basically like pie filling; super thick, synthetic strawberry jelly with strawberry slivers. The chocolate ice cream was better than the black raspberry but they both tasted like knock off brands you'd buy at a dollar general. It truly was quite the disappointment. We hope their frozen yogurt is better and we're willing to give them another shot. (We also want to do a taste test with their soft serve compared to the McDonald's right across the street, but I digress.) While the menu said the cake was a generous portion, compared to the amount of ice cream and whipped cream it was rather small. I definitely thought it'd be thicker. We ended up throwing half of it away, neither of us could stomach to finish it nor was it worth saving for later.

It's been YEARS since I've been to Jimmie Cone. Now that I'm back in Montgomery County, I do have a longer trek to Damascus but it's all worth it. It's a classic soft serve stand that offers standard flavors such as chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, or twist. Not into ice cream? They also have a variety of Italian ice to choose from. They have sugar free and frozen yogurt options, as well as sundaes and boats. I got my usual summer flavor, small strawberry with rainbow Jimmie's. You can't get a cone without the Jimmie's! The service was as quick and efficient as always. The seating was limited, but it was a beautiful day so I'm not entirely surprised that the seats were taken. Jimmie Cone is a staple of Montgomery County and I recommend checking this place out! Some people may not see the hype, but it's for the small town nostalgia.

99% of people think of Jimmie Cone when they hear Damascus. The tiny stand is only open in the summer, so locals are always quick to go. They have new flavors every week and are known for their soft serve twists. I love the close-community vibe of the place. If you go, make sure to bring cash. The last time I checked, they only accept cash (~$3-5 per person).

Jimmie Cone has super duper yummy soft serve. We came at 830 pm and had to wait approximately 20 mins in line, but the ice cream was delicious. We ordered a hot fudge sundae, a twist cone and a twist dish with strawberry and vanilla. All were very good. Once we got to the front you could see that there may be some opportunities to speed up the line, but perhaps it's done this way due to covid. Either way it was delicious. I would recommend and return.

Ice cream is obviously amazing as evidenced by the long lines. Minus one star for the difficulty in parking and getting in and out.

Such a treat. I love coming to Larriland each year to grab fresh fruit. I typically come for…read morepeaches but was so upset when I planned to go and decided to check online and the season had ended. It was just open on Monday and then closed by Friday. I was so sad. I still decided to go and buy some from the farm stand and to see if they at least still had some of my favorite products. They did I was happy to grab some up. They have Taharka Bros ice cream and some flavors I had never tried before so I grabbed a couple, don't judge. Not stating if they made it home or not but why would anyone let perfectly good ice cream go to waste on a hot ride home. Come on now, make it make sense lol. If I'm back in the area during harvest time, I'll definitely go back to grab up some fresh produce.

I went to Larriland Farm with a few friends this past Saturday afternoon for blackberry and peach…read morepicking, which are two of my favorite fruits. I've also never picked either fruit before, so I was very excited. The farm is huge, with many different sites. We stopped by the farm market first to look at various produce. There were so many fresh fruits and vegetables (if you are lazy and don't want to pick any, you can buy it here). We were very enticed by the strawberry milk (which sadly, I didn't end up buying). I did buy a bag of dry ingredients to make corn chowder for 14.99, which I enjoyed four meals of! First, we went to pick blackberries. I got one of the cartons for 9.99 (there's also a smaller one for 6.99) because I got greedy and wanted lots of blackberries. Unfortunately, it took me at least an hour to fill up my carton with the blackberries that looked ripe since most of the ones we saw looked more like raspberries (bright red, incredibly tart, and most definitely not ready to be picked). Very occasionally, I'd find a really fat and juicy blackberry, which immediately got plucked off the tree and straight into my carton. I tried some of them after picking and a lot of them were pretty sour even though they were ripe. I was quite sad that I labored in vain. Overall, it was a very hot day and with the scarce amount of ripe blackberries, I should have just bought them at the farm market. Finally, one of my friends and I went to pick peaches while the rest of them went to stare at sunflowers. We were done in less than 15 minutes since we picked ~30 for the 19.99 box (the cheapest option). The peaches were great, 2-3 days after picking. I've been enjoying them with other friends so far. If there's anything I'd recommend picking from Larriland, it's the peaches. Fun time at the farm, the prices are a bit steep for picking, and I'm still kind of sad about the lack of sweet blackberries.

Lu & Joe's Restaurant!!! It is my pleasure and my privilege to review this wonderful little…read morerestaurant. Lu & Joe's looks like it has been there forever! It is old, unique, not cookie-cutter and certainly not a hint of pretense anywhere around. Is it maybe run down a little, a bit old? Maybe but who cares? Lu & Joe's is one of the most charming roadside diners I have ever been to. This one building has a dining room on one side and a bar on the other. Above the door to the bar hangs a sign that reads "Please no profanity in the dining room. Thank you. Budweiser." LOLOLOL Lu & Joe know that their restaurant is a dive and they lean into it heavily. The naugahyde upholstery is clean, in good shape and colorful - but it's still naugahyde. The floor is probably asbestos tile squares from the 1950's (I say probably because I actually do NOT know if there is asbestos in the floor tile - but it sure looks like there should be). And you know what? That tile floor is spotless like the rest of the dining room. The menus do not have one drop of tomato sauce or grease or dirt on them. Someone clearly is taking great care of this restaurant. The menu is huge! So much to pick from. Oh, and did I mention that either Lu or Joe must be from Thailand???? One or both of them must be because the menu includes a full Thai menu, not one Thai dish, not only Larb Gai, not just Drunken Noodles - A FULL THAI MENU!!! And the dining room has genuine Thai decorations like a painting of a Thai palace with real flashing lights, Siamese touches like archways here and there, a memorial to some Buddhist god or goddess (at least I assume it's Buddhist) - and all of this thrown in with 1950's Americana. Lu & Joe's is truly a slice of the American Dream mixed in with an old roadside dive bar in Mt. Airy! Okay so now let's get to the food. I had tofu basil which was outstanding. The tofu was perfectly fried (not greasy) and there was LOTS of it. The veggies were crisp and fresh. There was a great amount of basil. And the sauce was excellent!!! Easily as good as - and mostly better than - the same dish I have had anywhere in downtown DC and at a fraction of the price!!! Bravo to Lu or Joe or both of them! My spouse had a bleu cheeseburger and it was a game changer. Easily a half pound of the juiciest ground beef I have ever seen! The plentiful bleu cheese and sauteed onions were a great addition. The fries were beautifully cooked as well! I do not have one bad thing to say about this place. We each ate every bite on our plates - huge helpings all around - and, all at once, we realized that we had found a real gem of a restaurant!!! Our server was likewise great. She was friendly and charming and easy to talk to! Not friendly as in "I better be nice to get a good tip" nice - but genuinely nice and friendly. She was fast, she paid the perfect amount of attention to us. I only wish I had gotten her name so I could sing her praises here. But - to Lu & Joe - we ate at your restaurant on Friday, April 10, around 3:30 pm. Whoever was serving then is a great addition to your wonderful restaurant. I certainly will eat at Lu & Joe's again. There is no pretense - only good food in impressive quantities and at great prices - in a clean casual/dive-y dining room where the server treats me well. Is there really anything else you need from a dining experience? I think not. I highly recommend Lu & Joe's to one and all!!!

Very sorry to say that this is not the same Lu & Joe's we've known and loved for more than 20…read moreyears. First, the good... The onion rings are just as good as they've ever been. We've always come here for the Thai food, but years ago--while dining with a large group--we ordered the onion rings and discovered how amazing they were. They seem to be the one thing that hasn't changed. The seafood dumplings are very different now--no longer like shumai--and are quite chewy, but still taste good. The OK... The drunken noodles with pork are also not what they used to be and are now just "OK." The noodles are unusually long and wide, making them difficult to eat, and we missed the sauce. The not good... The Tom Yum Goong with shrimp is much darker in color and has a strong lemongrass flavor, but it's far too salty. The green curry with chicken is also overly salty, and the chicken pieces are dark meat with gristle. When we ordered a Thai salad with chicken, the waiter said he had to check with the kitchen to see if it could be made because the kitchen staff are "new" (as of three months ago). Although he confirmed that order, the dish didn't arrive until after we had finished eating, so we sent it back. At one point, a cup of water spilled onto the bench seat. While the waiter wiped it up, he did not replace or refill the water. Overall, both the food and service are not what they used to be. We will not be returning.
