This is a very well stocked and well organized grocery store. The staff is always friendly and helpful if you're loo for a specific item. Unlike many grocery stores, they have both self service (if you're in a hurry) as well as full service cashiers. I say that to say, I don't often get to the Kroger on Sentinel Drive just off Battlefield Boulevard in the heart of Chesapeake. If they were closer, things would be different. When I do stop by here, it's usually on my way home from shopping somewhere else to pick up a few items. That's unfortunate because this is a fantastic grocery store. They have a nice selection of fresh fruit and vegetables in their produce section. The meat department is equally well stocked. Their prices are reasonable comparatively speaking but for me, the infrequency of my visits here boils down to proximity.

Sometimes the meats section does seem a bit limited on precut meats, but we are not that picky usually. I do wish they did have a bigger variety of ethnic items. My main gripe is that sometimes the self checkout can get pretty backed up, mainly because the machines always error out and there is only one employee usually assigned to self checkout. It does seem like they could use another section of self checkout machines, maybe even an express line aside from self checkout.

I will say, it was completely redone the best way it could. There are a lot more self checkouts. They seemed to have a better and greater selection of clothes for the whole family. Their food section was great to be honest. They had a good amount of organics. However, they were out of some fresh herbs that I needed. I was in the makeup section and needed some items in the glass case. I alerted an employer and within minutes had someone there to open it for me. Checkout was pretty easy to operate. I had a question and an employee was nice enough to help. If I had to come back here again I probably wouldn't hesitate if in the area. I still prefer my neighborhood "Grassfield Walmart" above all.
