Local family owned/operated farm in Pungo (VB); "grown" on us since 2012 as our go-to spot for picking strawberries, cauliflower, broccoli, lettuce, and blackberries. 45 min drive from home but made worthwhile by interacting with the owner/farmer, bringing our own buckets, spending time outdoors with our entire family selecting any/all produce items that spark joy in our eyes (and stomachs). Today's mission? Snagging strawberries. On property, headed to the main register (right-most building from street view) to weigh baskets/containers, then drove to the fields. Appropriate signage reminding patrons to social distance. Field paths were a tad muddy but we planned ahead, wearing older clothes/shoes. There were at least 50-60 lines of strawberries, each extending 40+ feet long. This made for a COVID Phase 1 friendly experience with other patrons. Plenty of space to move and not encroach on others. Once our pails were full, headed back to checkout; super easy to pay our $20 bill by credit card ($2.59/lb). Employees were friendly and knowledgeable. Still plenty of produce available. Though I didn't snap many today, the entire place is a perfect rustic photo-op! Best memory of previous visits was taking a family photo with the farmer in front of a weathered barn, directly next to his giant tractor.

We have going to this farm since the late 70's. I have the best time when I go there. The fresh vegetables picked straight from their fields reminds me of eating out of my mother's garden. I have many fond memories picking with my mother. Today I picked strawberries and picked up romaine lettuce and elephant garlic!

A Virginia Beach classic. The berries jump right out into your basket. Get out and enjoy.

Baskets they give you to use are large enough to share!

Strawberry picking A fun family activity! Bring your own basket or use one from the farm stand the buckets they gave us equated to about 4-6 crates that you would buy from the grocery store. They also had huge heads of romaine lettuce (at a great price), broccoli, and cute billy goats and barn cats out back. They also do pumpkins, Christmas trees and more year round. We'll definitely be back!

    Yum!

I honestly wouldn't even be able to tell you how to get here, but just put their address in your gps and hope that you get good signal while on your way! When you first pull up to the main stand/small barn-like building, you let them know that you are there to pick strawberries, and if you brought your own container, they'll weigh it and put the weight on a sticker, which goes on your bowl/bucket, so they know what amount to deduct once you fill it up. We were directed to drive to a particular part of the farm; we just followed a path. You get there, see strawberries galore and just have at it!!! We've been strawberry picking at Henley a few times now, and I learned something new this year. THE BEST TIME TO GO STRAWBERRY PICKING IS IN MAY!!! Not June, not July, not around Strawberry festival time, but May! I was so excited to pick so many bright red, juicy, and sweet berries this time around. Between my fiancé & I, we picked almost 11 lbs of these magically delicious fruit! The pricing isn't THAT much cheaper than what you'd find at a grocery store (I thought they would be,) but the perk of course, is that you literally hand picked every single one. It makes for a fun family event, day date, group date, whatevs. Fun times & you end up with the best strawberries. Hello Strawberry smoothies, ice cream, & shortcakes! I can't help but to eat a couple every single time I open the fridge. Yay for my second favorite fruit! Come & pick 'em at Henley Farms!

This is a great farm with friendly people and delicious produce. Take the family with you and make "grocery shopping" and adventure. They do also have a farm stand with pre-picked items if you are not inclined to pick the items yourself. I will caution you to watch out for biscuit the farm dog who likes to lay in the road.

Local honey $12 and peach salsa $6.

When we arrived it was a lot of people there. They have cows, a playground, picnic tables, a hay ride (seasonal), a corn maze, apple and different fruit picking, a pumpkin patch, farmers market, ice cream, and etc. They also have port-a-pottys on site. This was my first time and me and my family enjoyed ourselves. Even though it was a lot going on people wise we were able to get a picnic table and had lunch there. They had 2 food trucks out there also. The kids were having fun on the playground which is a decent size. The hay ride ends at 2pm so we missed that. But it looked fun. The market part isn't big. But they have huge brussel sprouts, tomatoes, different local honey, pies, apple cider, watermelon, frozen meat, and like 10-14 different types of apples. I seen apples I never knew existed. I'd love to have tried them all. Their apple cider is delicious. I got a quart and made apple cider floats, and they were so good!! Add a little cinnamon sugar and pumpkin spice and it taste like pie!! My daughter had an apple cider slushy with vanilla ice cream and she was hooked!! She went 4 days in a row!! Lol. The baked goods were different pies, cookies, muffin tops, and more. Everything was priced reasonably. The people there were friendly and everyone was just having a good time. I recommend taking a trip out here if you want a laid back fun time!! Check them out!! (Check their website for updates on hours, certain activities are seasonal) Also if you're in the area check out the dinosaur park down the street in front of the Military Aviation Museum. The park is small, but it's free and they have dinosaur statues you can take pics with.

I was impressed with the little building where the training happened - it was a cold day after a snow and it was warm and toasty inside. I'll have to add this into my rotation for fresh veggies and new training!

Not the "you'll get lost" kind of maze, more like a "you'll want to get lost" kind of maze. They opened on August 27th and reached max bloom on September 2nd. Their Facebook page indicates that you may only have another few days to catch this season's blooms. We went on a Thursday evening around 5:30 and only had a short line to get inside. The line was much longer when we were leaving around 7pm. It's $20 for 10 stems. That includes entry for up to 5 people. You can get an extra 10 stems for $10 and I think military gets an extra 5 just for showing their ID. You can't just go for the pictures, you've gotta pay. Dogs can come too- just make sure they are on a leash and you may want to bring water for them if you're planning a longer trip. They give you tips and the rules before you enter and supply you with a metal vase and cutters. I'd suggest bringing a basket instead of using their bucket though. After that the field is all yours. They have several different types of sunflowers. We got a little carried away and now I don't know what to do with all our flowers, not a bad problem to have.
