To Whom It May Concern,…read more I am writing to formally bring to your attention an incident that occurred during my visit to your market on June 28, 2026. My husband and I enjoy supporting small, local markets and farms; especially those that remind us of home and our military roots, so it is extremely disappointing to share that our experience today left us feeling unwelcome and disrespected. While selecting ears of corn, I picked up several that were already opened and set aside. I examined them only to understand why they had been separated. From across the aisle, an employee called out, "Ma'am, you can't open our corn here." I responded politely that I understood. She then approached me and asked, "Did you open all of these?" Her tone was accusatory, and the question itself was inappropriate. I clarified that the ears were already open when I picked them up. Instead of accepting my explanation, she continued lecturing me--repeating the same point multiple times despite my acknowledgment. She also stated that your corn is "fresh, just picked," which was factually incorrect given that the ears I was holding were ice cold. "Fresh, just picked" corn would be warm to the touch, as though it went directly from farm to stand. I mentioned that the opened ears had earworm. She replied that "there is nothing wrong with corn that has a worm; you just cut it off," and continued repeating the same reprimand I had already acknowledged multiple times. Despite my calm responses, the employee continued pressing the issue to the point that my husband stepped in, saying, "Okay, that is enough." The employee then told us, "Maybe you should go to Walmart to buy your corn." This comment was inappropriate, unprofessional, and entirely unnecessary. At that point, we decided to purchase the four ears already in our bag, inform the cashier of our experience, and leave; spending only $5.00 versus our normal $60-$80 we spend each time we visit. Unfortunately, this interaction has led us to decide not to return to your market, which is genuinely disappointing. We value local businesses and the sense of community they provide, but the treatment we received did not reflect the welcoming environment we expected--or the positive experiences we have had over the past six years as regular customers. We drive from Yorktown specifically to buy your fruits and vegetables, but we will not drive to Sandbridge to be chastised and publicly ridiculed for something I did not do, and even if I had, I acknowledged your policy immediately upon being told. I am sharing this feedback in hopes that it will be used constructively. Customer service matters, and interactions like this can significantly impact how patrons perceive and support a business. I trust you will address this issue to ensure future customers are treated with respect and professionalism.

They have cantaloupe, watermelon, heirloom tomatoes, local honey, different sauces, other fruits and veggies, and also plants. I got heirloom tomatos that are pretty good with nice flavor. The uglier the tomato the better they seem to be. Lol. Idk I'm not the tomato whisperer!! They weren't weird and soft or anything like that. The prices are reasonable and I enjoy seeing what they have. The young man who works there is always nice when he checks me out. They're located off of Harpers Rd on the side of the street. They update their facebook page daily due to weather and strawberry conditions so it's easy to keep an eye out before you make the drive. It's buried deep in Pungo off a charming road and a beautiful leisurely drive through the countryside. We easily found it, pulled in, and weighed our baskets and were sent off to one of the fields to pick. They had 2-3 open at the time with several rows to choose from and plenty of parking. It was muddy, which I knew from their warning to wear the proper shoes and clothes, but we managed to find a few rows and found tons of available strawberries. I was worried about there not being enough for everyone but that was not a problem - we quickly picked about 7 pounds of beautifully ripe red berries and headed back to the main station to weigh them. We stood in a socially distanced line where I browsed their veggie plants (for making your own home garden) and their beautiful potted flowers. They have some friendly wildlife here as well you can interact with as the goats were happy to come to the fence and be seen. Great experience - I now have two jars of fresh strawberry jam and tons of frozen strawberries for smoothies! This may be a new tradition.

They sell all kinds of fresh produce as well as some meat and eggs. The strawberry fields are PACKED with berries -- beautiful and delicious. Plus, on both occasions we visited we were basically the only people there so it was easy to socially distance. This place doesn't have the bells and whistles of the larger farms with activities for kids and what not, but it's perfect if you're not looking for a crowded environment. Plus, it's reasonably priced. The strawberries are $2 per pound and a bucket holds about 5 pounds when completely full. They are CASH ONLY so do make sure you have some on hand when you go. I highly recommend Evan's Farms!

We were initially going to stop by the annual Strawberry Festival in Pungo, but ended up at Brookdale Farm nearby. It was pretty empty when we went around 4/5pm on Saturday. It's so scenic and peaceful out in Pungo and my friend and I had so much fun walking through the field and picking strawberries. Apparently, it's toward the end of the picking season, but we found some beautiful and plump berries! We each filled up the bucket ($1) and we both paid around $12-13 (I want to say between 4-5lb). I'd suggest possibly wearing long sleeves or gloves while picking because there are little bugs when you lift the vines up to pick. My wrists and arms are a bit itchy but nothing too bothersome. I'll definitely have to come back next season! The stand where you pay also has an array of jams and butters that you can purchase.
