The owner initially agreed to return the security deposit in full (minus last month's electricity bill) but has not done so a month after our move-out. After our multiple requests for the deposit, the owner started to verbally harass my partner with misogynistic comments and outright refused to return the deposit. We are preparing to take legal actions. I would not recommend renting unit 51F. The building by itself is decent, e.g., friendly and helpful staff, close proximity to major subway lines. However, there are loud street noises from fire trucks, ambulances, policy vehicles in the morning and sometimes during the night.

The agent had initially contacted us after we submitted an inquiry post on MiMA website. The agent's name was either Tony Kong or Tommy Kang (don't recall and internet searches are confusing my memory) but I have his number which was 646-724-6850. When my friend reached the apartment building, the doorman denied any knowledge of an apartment showing and was super rude & unhelpful even though my friend tried showing him the proof of contact with this agent. My friend honestly felt profiled and humiliated. We tried contacting Tony/Tommy right away but he never picked up our calls or replied after. I would advise people to not trust the building agents/staff especially if they are going out of their way to visit this building. This whole experience left such a bad taste in my mouth that I have always ignored any MiMA rental posting whenever I looked for a new apartment.

Like many people during Covid I started to work from home and needed more space so I reached out to the building manager to see if I could move to a larger unit at the end of my lease term. They responded to me and told me that I could move to a larger unit upstairs with a balcony for the same price as I was paying downstairs. Amazing, I thought... but the unit was an absolute NIGHTMARE! A few months after having my apartment moved upstairs to apartment 5J I started to smell cigarette smoke, I thought that maybe it was just from a party next door and that the smell would go away no big deal. WRONG! Every. Single. Day. The smell became more and more evident. I asked the building staff about it and they informed me that in fact, my neighbor whom had lived there for decades was an avid chain smoker and it was something that had been going on for years. I felt totally betrayed, the building had known the whole time that this was an issue, and refused to disclose it to me. Since the building is advertised as "non smoking" I reached out to the building manager and begged and pleaded to move units or vacate my lease. They promised me as soon as a new unit hit the market I could have first dibs - that never happened (even though plenty of units had come to market in the interim) for months and months I begged and pleaded to move units, I couldn't sleep at night, I was coughing, itchy eyes, tight chest from the second hand smoke. It was like living in an ashtray. The smoke (since we shared a wall) was coming mostly through the kitchen, specifically through the gaps by the pipes! I couldn't even use my kitchen because of the fear the smoke was settling in the pipes! Not to mention a lot of this was going on during Covid, a complete health hazard. It became so bad I had to visit urgent care twice in 4 months because of respiratory issues, I was living in a NIGHTMARE. The building came in and duck taped the gaps under my sink (see photos), I even had to put electrical tape on the vents in my shower because it was blowing hot steamy cigarette smoke into my shower nightly. I begged and begged and begged for help for months and there was "nothing they could do about it" to help me. If you ever decide to move into this building and exit right on the elevators onto the 5th floor you will be engulfed by this terrible smoke smell. Specifically unit 5J, I am warning you because I wish someone would have been honest and upfront with me - or at least tried to help me after the fact and no one did, do not fall victim to this unit, you will regret it immensely.

i've been wanting to make this review for the last year…read more as newbies to the city, my partner and i had no idea where to live. we heard good things about Related buildings, and took a leap of faith signing at The Westport. ...and it has been the greatest aspect about living in nyc. from the very first day, the staff welcomed us to the property like they were greeting old friends. the doormen, bekim, sammy, asmail, jose, & jose along with the entire maintenance, leasing, and management staff have been hospitable, helpful, and kind every. single. day. i cannot recommend living here enough - if there is a need for maintenance the staff arrives within the hour. the roof has a gorgeous view of the city and amenities are clean, accessible, and well-maintained. The Westport staff have brought so much joy and created a "home away from home" experience for us. we are so thankful to the team for making this past year so special!!

I've lived in multiple cities and in multiple apartment buildings in the past couple years and…read morenothing compares to how bad my experience was at 95 Wall St For starters, one of the doorman allowed someone to try to break into my apartment unit back in August 2025. I was abruptly woken up by a phone call from the lobby at 2AM which I initially ignored since I was sleeping and was not expecting visitors at 2AM (who is??). A couple minutes later, I heard my keypad being frantically messed with by a man I did not recognize outside who was trying to get in. I was extremely scared and luckily, he gave up after numerous attempts. 95 Wall St prides itself as a doorman building so if a 2AM phone call from the lobby to my unit went ignored, this man should have never been able to come up. Afterwards, I filed a report to the police and they came in for investigation. I also tried to follow up with management the following morning but they were extremely dismissive of my case and even said the problem was "my fault" since I did not speak to them in the "correct tone of voice". My bad for being upset that someone had tried to break into my unit and I was up all night panicked, I guess. I also tried swapping units or breaking my lease early as I didn't feel safe in my space but they threatened to charge me twice my rent and refused to let me move or break my lease otherwise I also lived near neighbors who would smoke and fight non-stop. The smoking led to me being unable to breathe in my own unit. The fighting would start around 7AM, where I had to hear a couple screaming and throwing things all day long. This led to it being nearly impossible to get any sleep in my own home. And what did management do when I complained? If you guessed "nothing", you would be correct! Elevators also never work properly so expect to wait 10-15 minutes just to get upstairs I had in-unit washer and dryer but the quality was so bad that the machines often destroyed my clothes. Else, they didn't work at all so there wasn't much point of having "in-unit" Hot water would also shut off abruptly without notice. I'm pretty sure this is an NYC building code violation but alas, nothing was done about this issue either despite complaints (what's new) On the topic of water, sometimes the water from my sinks would come out brown.
