So glad to have this hot little firepit tossing out fresh bagels on Beaubien. I'm a little in love with Beaubien right now, not least because these bagels hold their own against the best when they are fresh. They have their own special crispness on the outside, and then a lighter fluff in the middle than any of the others I love in town - Fairmount, St Viateur, DAD's, Real Bagels. This magical effect does not quite make it to day two, but let's face it, you won't have many left by then anyway. Sidenote: they also sell Montreal Kosher bread, and cheese bagels. Cheese bagels are these sweet horseshoe-shaped cheese pastries that are almost entirely un-bagel-like, aside from the fact that both are awesome. Grab two.

Great bagels that happen to also be vegan (or if you're trying to avoid the eggs that are in the St Viateur and Fairmount ones)!

Maybe not quite St. Viature quality but quite close & also a bit different: these are a little bigger and a little doughier

This location didn't have any seating which sucks cause it meant I had to eat elsewhere, but honestly not the biggest deal. It was a decently small place, had fridges on the right with stuff for your bagel, merchandise on the left, and in the front, the bagels and the area where they make the bagels. The workers are know their stuff and are quick to work with. Usually, when I ask whether something has egg, they have to go ask someone else, but everyone here knew exactly what was in their bagels. They told me which bagels didn't have egg, and they told me whole wheat (I think, it's been a while), and pumpernickel. Do with that what you will. One of the employees actually told me after that they've always wondered how allergies to food works. I told him how and then he proceeded to tell me how he wish he was allergic to eggs so he could be skinnier. This man just made this a five star review. My bagel tasted great honestly. It was nice and sweet, wasn't a small bagel, and was almost pre-cut. This satisfied my bagel expectations. Definitely a nice place to stop by and get a bagel. It wasn't too expensive and service is great and quick. Go try a bagel bro.

I've eaten bagels my entire life and honestly never thought they were anything that special. But when we had the chance to visit Montreal, this was one of the first places on our list. When we arrived, there was a long line, and we waited about 35 minutes. Normally, that would make me question whether it's worth it, but this time it absolutely was. I ordered the smoked salmon with fig jam on an everything bagel, and it was incredible. The bagel was perfectly fresh, with a chewy interior and just the right amount of crispness on the outside. Combined with the smoked salmon and the sweetness of the fig jam, it was one of the best bagel sandwiches I've ever had. I rarely say this, but it was 100% worth the wait. My only disappointment is that I didn't have enough time to try their famous competitor so I could compare the two. I guess that just gives me another reason to come back to Montreal!

I tried the garlic and blueberry bagels after a 10 minute wait in line, they were definitely different to the bagels you usually get from the grocery store. I felt the difference in quality and price but they didn't blow me out of the water to come back again especially with that wait line.

I was intrigued, and since I can always go for some carbs I decided to head in and check this place out. Unlike most bakeries I visited, Boulangerie Guillaume has a much more modern look, and is larger than a standard bakery. Walking in, I was immediately greeted by stairs which led up to the main production area. All of the bakes were arranged on the back-wall perimeter of the space separated from the pedestrians by a glass wall. The color scheme was mostly black to contrast the bright yellow of the bags and signage. The arrangement of the bakes, combined with the color scheme and modern aesthetics, resulted in a stunning, visually striking presentation. I wasn't too hungry, but I can always go for some sweets and their date square looked good. I went with that, along with a cappuccino. The square was delicious - the dates were high quality, and the crust underneath was moist while maintaining its integrity. The cappuccino was also good, a great complement to the bake. Service was efficient, and overall I had a great experience at Boulangerie Guillaume. I definitely want to return to explore more of their menu - I noticed they had some savory items so perhaps for some lunch. Definitely one of the best bakeries I visited in Montreal.

However, got close to the end of our day and saw Kettlemans Bagel store across the way from the stadium and decided to give them a try. They were not to busy at the moment, I'm sure when the hockey season is in play they get packed. The gentleman that took our order at the check in was nice and patient. I'm sure that it didn't help that we did not speak French, which seems to be the main language here in Montreal. I got the BLT and tots, the family got sandwiches as well and tots. They did have a little hiccup with our order, they forgot one of the tater tots. I let them know and they were super apologetic and made another fresh batch for us. They have an area where you can see them cutting up the dough and roll up the bagels to be made. There is an outdoor seating area (it's like a patio) or you can sit inside mostly barstools and a couple tables with chairs. The Bathroom you need to get the key from the counter, bathrooms were a bit on the dingy for being a locked up bathroom. The restaurant itself looked clean and well kept. The sandwich was good, bagel was a bit on the chewy side. Like I said the staff was nice which was the best part of the visit here.
