This place is the real deal! As a native NYer I was looking for my first taste of an authentic Montréal bagel, and this place did not disappoint! I had their Bagel Saumon Fumé (smoked salmon, onion, lettuce and cream cheese bagel). It was incredible! Very tasty and dense cheddar cheese bagel. The texture is like the texture of a biscuit (best way to describe it). Just really tasty and crumbly. I've been searching for a bagel like the is in NYC (doesn't exist). Got there this morning for breakfast since it's just next door of my friend house and grabbed me a poppy seed bagel with butter and cream cheese and dwas delicious. Sadly they didn't cut it in half so bit messy to eat properly and got cheese cream all over beard and moustache but still was great . Guy who served us was really nice definitely a good little neighbourhood bagel store to take on the go . read more

This is a review for Le Trou in Rosemont on Rue Masson. We came in the morning, the wood fire was visible in the oven, you could smell the freshly baked bagels. We had two sesame bagels with cream cheese. They were sublime. Lightly crisp out on the outside, fresh and soft on the inside, unique Montreal no salt profile, and warm to the touch. Service was very friendly. Highly recommend. Eat your Montreal bagels there. read more

I really wanted to like this place based on previous reviews. But the flat white coffee was bitter, and the smoked salmon bagel with cream cheese was just sad - totally overpowered by some really pungent red onions and some depressing iceberg lettuce. And then when I asked for the bathroom (to wash my hands since they'd only given me one napkin and the cream cheese got everywhere), there was no soap or paper towels. read more

Le Trou bagels are amazing. They are truly artisans, taking the best elements of Montréal bagels (sweetness, chew, flavor) and elevating them to something special. All of their bagels are incredible, from the classic sesame and everything to their Griffintown flavor (parmesan and beer) and the not-too-sweet chocolate cranberry flavor. In addition to hot bagels straight from the bag we tried the maple butter spread on an everything which was next level delicious, and some cream cheese on the Griffintown which was PERFECT. Their coffee was great, too. Staff was friendly (we were gifted a seasonal bagel to try - maple white chocolate YUM), atmosphere is great. Will definitely go back next time in Montréal. I really hesitated between a three and four star for this place. The first thing I must declare is that Le Trou is no contender for conventional Montreal bagels. For me, the real test is when you go to toast the bagel: the crispy/chewy ratio, the sweetness and certainly the spreadability (for other items on top, of course). Le Trou doesn't quite deliver on the first two criteria but it does support toppings very well. Thus far we've tried all of the flavours offered, with the exception of the cinnamon-raisin. The only flavour that really stands out to me is their signature bagel: the Griffintown (beer and cheese flavour). The problem with my affinity for this bagel is that it's the only one that isn't regularly priced: half a dozen for any of the other flavours hovers around the $5-6 range while the Griffintown will set you back $15 (!) for six. I think this is more than a bit much, frankly. What I really value about le Trou is that the majority of its products are affordable and it's in a location with few other comparable options. I find I'm generally hard-pressed to find bread-like items in the Sud-Ouest, as such I'm happy to have access to a bagel shop (with reasonable hours!). Oh, and the space itself is very cute and modern, although definitely not your grandma's bagel shop. read more

Delicious chewy bagels and you don't have to go to Mile End to get them! I always try to pop in to this spot for a warm bagel when I'm around, especially for a sandwich. They have a good variety of flavours including the staples like sesame and poppy but also a signature Griffintown flavour of beer and parm! Yum! A few sweet one on the menu but the chocolate cranberry one is so so good! You can also buy smoked salmon, cream cheese and a few other goodies, including some really good coffee! So grab yourself a a smoked salmon sandwich and latte, head to the nearby Lachine Canal and enjoy! read more

Le trou just opened this summer near where I live and it's a wonderful addition to the neighbourhood. They open early, serve coffee and warm and yummy bagels at great prices. Perfect for an early morning. Plus super kind service every time. The owner even served me today before opening hours because he saw I was with my baby.
