This tour did not cover as much of Downtown Beaufort as the other tour I took or provide as much history but it was fun and I learned different tidbits. Angus was the horse that took us around. The horses are well cared for and if it gets too hot in the summer the tours are stopped. I'd recommend this tour while in Beaufort.

Our Charleston based tour planner and staff at our Beaufort B and B raved about Janet's tour and how she brings the city of Beaufort and its magnificent homes and history to life. Unfortunately her delegate who gave us our tour on June 5 was UNACCEPTABLE. I believer we would have enjoyed our two hours more just walking around on our own. We learned more of Beaufort's history, houses and residents on our Dolphins Adventures Tour than we did with this replacement guide. There were only 4 of us on the tour and the guide spent the entire time talking with two phd child psychology students, a couple, trying to impress them with his knowledge of their field of study. He spent more time on this than talking about Beaufort. We traditionally love walking tours as it allows for engagement with the guide etc. We were ignored like we were not even on the tour zero engagement the exact opposite of every other one of our tours on our two week trip. . A church was unlocked for us to walk in. Unfortunately a number of others sauntered in the open door and we had to wait a good 15 minutes while the others moseyed around the interior used the bathroom (queued) etc. as our guide had to wait until they left. Parking was easy to find in the waterfront marina departure point. Raul led the tour, and did a decent job in covering the history of Beaufort and going over both history and architecture of homes in the area, as well as pointing out where some movies were filmed locally. I liked that the tour ventured out of the historic part of town to go to the Beaufort National Cemetery, as it's one of those places people visiting would otherwise likely skip out on. Overall, I'd rate the tour 4 stars, as I didn't like it as much as other Atlantic coastal town tours I've done in the past (Southport, for example), and this tour was a bit more expensive in comparison (but still worth it). I also thought it was a bit much to be told to leave a review by the guide, and also receive messages via both email and text message to review as well.

I think Dolphin Adventures is a bit of a misnomer. Yes we saw dolphins close up a mother and her kids but the highlights was the ecology of the area. We learned about how everything works together in this environment , sat right over and oyster bed and learned the history of oyster farming. Viewed homes from the water and learned their stories and history. Captain John pointed out more bird species than I suspect most people see on a birding tour. The two hours went by so quickly we were sad to see the tour end. If we return to Beaufort we definite would take another adventure with Captain John. If you only do one thing in Beaufort take this tour. It was one of the highlights of our two week swing through Beaufort Savannah and Charleston. Not to be missed!!!!

After checking in we were seated on a nice covered pontoon boat with lots of room. The captain and his first mate (think that's what they are called), were very nice! Captain Dick was very informative on the area and explained what we were seeing through the tour. We had two little girls on our tour that never saw dolphins. So Captain Dick made sure when we spotted them (which was several times), to take a little extra time near them so the girls could get a good view! At one point he pulled out two little dolphin keychains for the girls to have. It was really sweet and probably made their night! Our tour was scheduled to be and hour and 15 min, but since he took his time to give the little girls extra viewing of the Dolphins our tour ended up being close to an hour and a half - an hour and forty five minutes! It was a great tour, great price, and beautiful scenery! You're also allowed to BYOB :)

Kinda feel I missed out on the intimacy of the town, but still got a bunch of information. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and very passionate about the history of Beaufort and it showed. I only partook in that tour company, so I don't know how the other companies would compare, but I would recommend to my friends.
