Beaufort City and Pickpocket Plantation Combo Tour This is a family ran business. I think they said that they've been doing tours for over 20 years. Believe me it shows. I've taken a zillion tours over the years at all kinds of different levels and places, with all kinds of persons, and you know a top quality company and tour guide when you meet one. Spirit Of Beaufort is hands down one of the best companies I've ever done business with !!!!!!! First off, I didn't feel like a customer, but part of their FAMILY. I felt so at home and so relaxed that I didn't want our tour to end. Jacob was our tour guide and he was just OUTSTANDING !!! He told amazing stories, knew the city like the back of his hand, and even dressed the part. Oh wait, I almost forgot... Jacob also sings. What a beautiful and amazing voice he has too. Made me feel like I was 300 years back in history. I can't say enough about this business. I'm just said that I live on the other side of the country, coz I would love to visit Jacob and the family on a regular basis. Such a wonderful company they are !!!!!! read more

I learned much about Beaufort that I did not know before and I liked all of the stops that we made. Took our family of four on the Ghost and Historical van tour. Ended up being the only ones on the tour- likely due to the time of year. Time was allotted for an hour and a half but actually took closer to 2 hours. Our guide was the widow of the man who started the company 23 years ago. Very knowledgeable about the history of the area. Saw some beautiful antebellum mansions, took a walk through a cemetery, and heard some great stories. Well worth the price. read more

We had another tour planned with a different company but as we got to Beaufort they called and canceled on us and I am sure glad they did. We happened to be standing outside the Spirit od Old Beaufort and went in to see if they had a tour available to accommodate our 6 people (1 with some physical limitations) and so glad they had something available right then. We went on the van tour of historic Beaufort and were not disappointed. The knowledge of our guide was amazing. Before leaving the parking lot he asked a few questions and based on that tailored our tour to our interests. The price was very reasonable and we definitely got our monies worth. I would highly recommend them and when we visit the area will definitely do another tour with them. read more

We loved this tour. It was a slow time, January, and we were the only ones on the bus. Basically we had a private tour. Our driver (sorry can't remember his name) really knew the history of Beaufort and gave an excellent tour. We will return one day for sure. We highly recommend this tour. read more

This was so interesting! Our guide was great! He really loves his town. We went on a van tour to avoid profuse sweating, and we were lucky enough to be the only two people there. The tour focused on the very interesting history of Beaufort...less so on movies, which was just right for us. I think a walking tour would be a lot of fun in cooler weather. The whole tour was about an hour long and was 16 dollars per adult. Kids were cheaper, but I don't think a child would appreciate the experience. read more

We did the gullah low country plantation tour with our guide Jan and it was fantastic She was very informative and witty.

This tour was the highlight of our vacation!! We took the van pirate ghost tour with our five year old son and 72 year old mother-in-law and all us loved it. The guide has been giving tours for twenty years and was friendly, knowledgable and a great story-teller. She kept my preschooler's attention for the two-hour tour and he loved the pirate hat and tools (both real and imaginary) she provided. Exceptional! read more

This tour was amazing, IF you are reading this review, stop reading and book this tour. Our guide was Jacob and he was flipping AWESOME. Jacob waited for us even though we were half an hour late and we opted to take this tour to be on an air conditioned bus. Jacob is a second generation story teller and dressing up in historical garb, made it that much more interesting. Jacob's knowledge of the area and general history would be history professors to shame. Jacob even let my son in law fire an 18th century rifle, which was fantastic. Jacob knew the "lay of the land" with story telling and singing in the native Gullah language. I just cannot say enough about this tour, it was flat out AMAZING. Additionally, if you are a Forrest Gump fan, then you need to go see this tour as some of the church scenes were filmed on this tour..."that's all I have to say about that".....did you get that? Jacob stops half way through at a chocolate store and the sweets are to die for.....I did not want the tour to stop.....I love history and came away with knowing more about a place I never even heard of until this tour....Folks, book this tour, you will love it. :) read more
