I am visiting the Houston, Texas, area from California. My best friend decided to get her eyebrows threaded. Upon arriving, it was pouring down rain, so I decided to go inside with her. I said since I was here already, I would go ahead and get mine as well. Before I can even sit down and say I wanted mine as well, the lady at the cash register rudely says, "We only service women." I get very uncomfortable after that, not knowing whether or not I should continue waiting for my best friend, so I step out and run back to the car because of the rain. I had high hopes for this place because of all the good reviews, and nice pictures but when I got there they refused to work on my eyebrows because I am a man. Throughout history women have fought for equal rights, and here I am experiencing sexism at its finest. I guess it goes both ways and this place is a prime example of that. I'd understand if it was a type of spa where women are walking around with robes and they're slightly nude or something, then I completely understand, but these are EYEBROWS. Being that I'm rating this place 3 stars, I have every intention of going back. Maybe I came on an off day. I read the reviews and I was hopping for a stellar experience and I just didn't get that. I do hope to have a better experience next time. It's in a great location for those in Meyerland, Westbury, Bellaire, etc. In the same shopping center as Belden's and Tuesday Morning. There were two ladies working. One was working on a lady and one, the owner I believe was behind the counter. I STILL had to wait until the lady was finished for me to go next, even though there was some one behind the counter. As I mentioned I'm pretty sure it was because a woman came in after I was almost finished and said she had an appointment with Shazia. The lady behind the counter proceeded to take the woman. Seriously! I would have been out of there a long time before if she would have just taken me! Ugh. My brow threading wasn't amazing. After looking in the mirror I had to point out a few places she missed and how the two brows didn't match up. In the end they turned out fine, however I shouldn't have to point out mistakes to the professional. Ps - many older posts mention the costs of brow threading is $8...it's now up to $10. Okay so I recently moved to Braeswood. During the move I completely forgot to look in the mirror, because my eyebrows were two bushes. Okay so this place is located on N Brasewood and Chimney Rock in the Belden's shopping center. This isn't a very busy area; so plenty of parking was available. When entering the place. I could see that it was pretty dated. But that didn't matter to me, because the place was clean. I didn't have an appointment and waited about 4-5 minutes. She did a great job on my eyebrows. Shazia was the first person to ever thread my brows and she will remain my favorite threader! I've tried out several other threading salons, but I always prefer her in the end. She is very friendly and takes her time to make sure the brows turn out nice and even every time. If you have any specific brow concerns, make sure to let her know at the start! Usually, I just let her work her magic and do what she thinks is best, and I have yet to be disappointed. The prices are reasonable, especially for the area. Let me just say this, I've been going here for quite some time and I usually have the best experience. I'm not one to just go on rants about all of my bad experiences but this needs to be said! Don't go in here just letting anyone thread your brows. Figure out who the master threader is and only have her do it. There's one other lady who does a good job but both of these women are older. There's a younger girl who F*%$#D up my entire day on my last visit and I was so angry I was shaking!!!! I literally just spent almost 6 months growing out my brows bc I wanted them to be even in length on both sides and thick. I have a serious things for brows so this was super important to me. When I got there and told them I only wanted my brows done, the younger one called me over bc she was the only one not busy at the time. I told her I only wanted them "cleaned" meaning just take a small amount from around the edges and shaped. I seriously had a gut feeling this was not going to go well and instead of going with my instinct I sat there anyway like an idiot! She proceeded to take so many layers of my eyebrow off and I thought to myself, "she's doing a ton of threading," sure enough, she gave me the mirror to look at it and my whole eyebrow was made into a thin crescent on my right side! I started to tell her that this is not what I wanted and I was not pleased because she just took my entire eyebrow that I grew out for months, and removed it in 3 minutes!!! The "master" came over and just looked at me for a minute to compare each side and agreed that it was not good at all. She offered to "fix it" but I mean there's really no fixing! I at least appreciate her sincerity and as she started to "fix it" she whispered to me "I'm so sorry." She really tried but she knew I was so upset. She told me I didn't have to pay and I walked out with tears in my eyes! I'm seriously not this extra, but I wish I could have just listened to my gut! Always listen to you gut!!!!! Now I will have to draw both eyebrows on to my liking which I'm not good at! I have been going to Aisha for years, but when I stumbled near a threading place 2 miles from my house I was so excited for the short trip. There was no wait time when I arrived and the place is huge, like a salon. The lady who did my brows was careful and they looked good afterward. I was a little concerned about the red bumps which hadn't happened before when I went to Aisha, but they went away eventually. Slightly more pricey at $10 for eyebrow threading but if it can save me 30 minutes of driving, I'm there. Highly recommended and they take credit card! read more

My twin sister opened my eyes to the value of a beautifully shaped eyebrow. I remember woefully the day when my cousin taught me how to pluck, and I attacked my eyebrows with a voraciousness that should be reserved for poultry about to be cooked and eaten. As a result of years of haphazard plucking, my thin eyebrows never seemed even. After I complimented her lush eyebrows, my sister marched me straight to the nearest highly Yelp rated place. All of the Beauty and Brow staff are kind, knowledgeable, and friendly. They take you seriously as you talk about trying to grow your eyebrow hairs out, which is probably not an easy feat. I've returned to them several times, and I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes. Excellent customer service, and affordable. My first impression? I am not impressed. Did a walk-in and was told the wait would be 40 minutes. I asked: "If I made an appointment would I have to wait?" The lady at the front desk told me there would be no wait with an appointment. I decided to make a date for another day. The day of my appointment I arrive on time and I am on a tight schedule with car pool. I asked the front desk if Shazia was on time and she said almost. I take a seat. She took THREE people before me and I ended up waiting 25 minutes. Some of those women were walk-ins. I am wondering what is the point of making appointments if she takes clients in order they sign in? That irritated me because I made an appointment so I would not have to wait. I didn't like being deceived. If she was running late- I would have appreciated a call so I could decide if I could make it or not. Running behind is one thing- cramming walk-ins in on your time is another thing. The threading hurt! I had let my brows grow out so I could reshape them after not being happy with the last wax I had gotten. I explained I wanted thicker brows and to follow my lines just a clean up and shape. I think she did an ok job but I didn't love that she rounded the arch instead of a sharper line. I think next time I go back I will take a picture and be more clear about what I want. $8 for brows- for that price I will be back. Can't say enough good things about this place! When I moved to Houston, I decided it was time to do something about my eyebrows. I had been plucking them myself since my teen years and knew they needed serious help. I had never tried threading before but decided to come here after seeing the excellent reviews. I go here every 2-3 weeks now. The difference in my eyebrows is noticeable and has changed the look of my face in a good way. I won't even consider touching my eyebrows by myself again, lol. The staff is courteous and polite, and the two ladies who thread are both great. Both are sweet and excellent at what they do. I have never made an appointment and have only had to wait once (10 minutes). The threading takes 10 minutes max. I have not had any other services done here, so my review is only relevant to eyebrow threading. At $10, you can't beat this place. There are many closer places in Rice Village that are more expensive, but I will continue to go here. read more

Walked in with no appointment on Saturday morning. Lady at counter greeted me right away and asked if I wanted my eyebrows done. I said yes along with my sides. I was shown to the third chair with another lady who wore black uniform. The counter space is tiny so bring a clutch or something smaller. My keys and glasses took over quarter of the counter space. She did not ask how I wanted my eyebrows. My right side of my forehead and eyelid are red and somewhat puffy. I have been to other places in the past and this the first time I was asked to hold my hand against my own eyelid for her to thread. Then she asked hold down my other eye. It was bit unusual. I had just had my nails done. A few of them got affected by thread that rubbed against my nails. She did ask how I wanted the sides done. The whole process was also more painful than the other places. At the very end, she asked me I wanted to add something on my face. I told her yes and she placed a liquid on tissue and handed it to me. I applied it on my face. On my way to pick nail polish to correct them. The place is decent if you want a quick no frills eyebrow. If you are looking for a personal approach and less hands on experience keep looking. read more

I had some time to burn on this side of town and decided to swing on in to give threading a try. It was easy to find and there's ample parking. I was greeted as soon as I walked in and escorted directly into a chair. NO WAIT TIME!!! She knew exactly what I wanted and, I barely felt a thing! Shazia is the best! I followed other Yelp recommendations and booked an appointment with her for eyebrow threading and a facial and had a great experience. There was a man at the front desk when I arrived. He spoke but definitely was not friendly. Not the best first impression, especially after reading some other reviews. There are a few signs up about their right to refuse business as well so I fully believe the other reviews about discrimination against men. As for my experience, she was ready at my appointment time and I liked the finish results. I agree with the Yelper who mentioned a need for music in the main space because it was eerily quiet. There was "relaxation" music playing in the facial room though. Shazia analyzed my skin and recommended the Orange facial, so I got that and my goodness! My skin looked amazing #melaninonfleek. It takes a lot of work and effort to make adjustments for the safety of their staff and customers. They're currently only taking appointments, no walk-ins. When you arrive, they have you call before going in. It was a super smooth process. I felt safe and comfortable as I was getting my service, and I felt the same walking out. I was recommended to try this place for eye brow threading. Yes they do offer other services but my primary focus was to get my eyebrows under control & in shape. I saw Shazia and she was fantastic! Very thorough and she took her time and I am happy with the results. I actually have a nice arch going it was pretty painless and normally it really hurts to get my brows threaded but her technique was amazing. When homegirl's eyebrows start looking like a fuzzy caterpillar, this is the place I run to to tame that crazy beast. They have pretty flexible hours closing at 7 pm Monday through Saturday, so I never really feel the need to make a reservation. However, please do make note that they do get busy during the weekends, so perhaps making one would be beneficial to those in a rush. Technicians there are quick and efficient, and I'm more than happy to say that I have been satisfied every time I walk out of there, which is amazing since eyebrow threading is $10 without tip. I've been getting my eyebrows threaded at Beauty & Brow since 2013 and have had nothing but wonderful experiences over the years. I always request Shazia who has an exceptional eye for symmetry and is quite detail-oriented which results in me walking out with beautifully shaped brows and tons of compliments from friends. I'm usually in and out within 15 minutes or less with an appointment which is also really convenient. I've tried to go to other threading locations around Houston and elsewhere, but nobody has been able to achieve what Shazia does with my eyebrows.
