I had such a great experience at Queenie's Nail Salon! Rachel did an incredible job fixing my nails. I had gone to a different salon before, and both of my thumb nails had already broken. Rachel replaced them and matched them so perfectly you can't even tell the difference because they're super strong and stable, unlike the others I got elsewhere that are already lifting. On top of that, she has such a great eye for color. She introduced me to their cat eye shades and showed me all these amazing options I didn't even know they had. I can't wait to come back and get a full set done by her! I wish I had gone to her in the first place! The best part is that Rachel is one of those rare nail techs who just gets it. Wow - I've read so many mixed reviews on this place! Let me break down exactly what my review is for so it's clear: My nail tech: I had Queenie and I thought she was great. She did her thing with my nails and that's all I care about. No issues with her! Quality of my nails: AMAZING! Queenie clearly knows what she is doing with shaping, design, etc. Wait time: I made an appointment and still had to wait 20 minutes. Could be worse, could be better. Price: Despite Queenie's amazing talents, I did find the price to be very high. I also was not told that there's automatically 18% gratuity added (until I read additional reviews on here), so that was disappointing to find out after the fact as I had given her an additional 20%. For me, I will return and likely will only see Queenie for her incredible work- I will also be mindful of gratuity and openly check in about that. Queenie is hands down the best in the game. She is extremely polite and has an excellent bedside manner. I am new to having GelX sets and she was super patient with me when I started booking appointments with her back in October of last year. On top of that she is insanely talented at the manicure itself on a technical level; the set I got in early December stayed put for a whole month. That said Queenie really shines at nail designs and nail art. I am extremely discerning in regards to aesthetics so I choose my inspo photos carefully. She uses the photo as a reference but doesn't directly copy the original which is what all manicurists should be doing. And there is ample proof of her skill. Queenie is an artist for real!! I'm normally very disappointed after getting my nails done because they didn't quite capture my vision, but this time I decided to really do my research and that's how I came across Queenie. Her Instagram showed proof that she could do a lot of modern styles and do them WELL. This salon is all the great things about the Instagram nail techs (proof of work, booking by text, advance price quote, artsy and modern styles) with the professionalism of a nail salon. I booked her by text (one of the other reviews mentioned that she might not text back immediately, but that was fine for me tbh). I texted her some designs I was thinking and found a time that worked for me. The only wish I had is if she'd send a set of times she's available so I can just choose from that vs going back and forth via text. But that was a veeeery minor thing. She also gave me a price quote for the design I wanted so I wasn't surprised when it came time to check out. The salon itself was clean and had two levels. Queenie is a true professional. From the picture alone she was able to give recommendations of what might work better and took my suggestions for tweaking. Normally I feel very anxious getting my nails done, but I felt like I could truly trust her with my vision (even thought it might have not seemed that way with my billion questions lol...Sorry Queenie! ). If you want your mani to be beautiful, creative, and long-lasting, you must go to Queenies! I'm so happy my friend recommended her and this salon. It was my first experience with Gel-X and I really loved how it turned out. The first time I went, I had one of the men (I think Jason?) and he was able to create a design just by verbally telling him. For booking with Queenie, she is so sweet but be a little bit patient because she does get booked quickly and also may not have time to respond right away to your texts. But it's 1000% worth it! I showed her a photo of what I wanted and she did it better. She is very artistically gifted. :) The nails lasted at least three weeks and I got so many compliments. On Tuesday October 22, 2024, I was racially profiled at this shop . I did inquire about the prices because they were higher than what I am used to paying. Since I was in the area for appointment at GW, I showed the young nail technician my nails and told her this is what I wanted. I asked her the price, and then she told me that they added an 18% tip . I should have left right then , but had an hour b4 my appointment. . She could not figure out how much, and I did mental math and figured it out for her. She asked me if I was okay with the price three times, and the third time I asked her if she wanted me to pay before she did my nails and she did not respond. I proceeded to get my nails done and when she finished, I found out she had given me the basic manicure when I wanted the French gel one where your nails are painted before adding the French tip. My nails looked okay, and I am not complaining about how they were done, just how I was questioned about being able to pay for the higher price service. I requested. Never again will I get my nails done at this nail salon at 1926 I Street N.W. Wednesday, October 23, 2024. I am so disappointed in the way my nails looked today. This is two reviews in one - 5 stars for Queenie. I came to DC from California and decided to get my nails done for a wedding. Yelp helped me find her. I saw all her work and got a specific design to go with my dress. She was meticulous and sweet. I LOVE my manicure. I got another technician (Miya) to do my gel pedicure. Honestly - worst pedicure of my life. ZERO STARS. My 7 year old daughter can do better. She took FOREVER and then didn't apologize or ask any other techs for help. She covered my feet in oil and tried to put my sandals on me as if A. I wouldn't notice the horrible job and B. I would slip and fall with the amount she dosed on my feet. I tried to clean up my pedicure myself and Queenie offered to redo it, but we'd already been there for almost 3 hours. I would have if I didn't have places to be. I'd hate to give less than 5 stars as my experience with Queenie was awesome and my daughter had the best time and experience as well. Do NOT get your nails done from Miya. I left in the worst mood. My friend introduced me to Queenie a few years ago! I've been hooked since day one! I normally only go to see Queenie, but the staff is always nice and available to assist when and wherever needed. Queenie is extremely talented and cares about her craft. She has made some upgrades to the salon, and I love the new suite she has for herself & clients. It gives a private experience. They offer drinks to clients, play good music, and have stylus available to use during your service. You can book on the website or call to make an appointment. They do accept cash and credit cards. However, Amex is not accepted. I've been getting Gel x or dip with designs. It lasts pretty long without any lifting or chipping. However, my nails grow out super fast, and around the 3 week mark, I need a new appointment. read more

I had a very disappointing manicure at Queenie's last week. Although I was taken at my appointment time and they have a great color selection, I do not think I will be back. My nail tech was very distracted and watching tik tok lives on her phone. She continued to search for new lives to watch, and would rotate between watching her phone and doing my nails. I also bled under my nails from how short they were filed. When I called to make the appointment and was told that a BIAB infill would be $65. I chose a cat eye color design and expected an up-charge for this service. However, when I checked out I was charged $75 for the service and $30 for the cat eye (most places are 10-15). When I asked about the service difference she said the extra $10 was for cutting and shaping my nails. This should be included in the manicure price. They also automatically added an 18% tip, which was not disclosed verbally until I swiped my card. Between the bad manicure appointment and unclear/upcharge pricing, I will not return. read more

Could've been 4 stars if they weren't so overpriced. They also do the standard nail salon bamboozling when it comes to quoting prices. Gel X 3D manicure that was quoted for $95 really meant $95 on top of the flat rate which wasn't mentioned when I made an appointment so beware. My gel pedicure (which was originally supposed to be a French tip) was sloppy so I changed it to a standard white gel. The lady that did my nails seemed out of her depth with the design I gave her and was very snappy and exasperated. Yikes! First and last visit. One nail tech, who was supposed to be able to do designs, is rude and combative. He's on the heftier side compared to other male tech. I believe he also answered the phone when I called in an appointment for a Gel X set. He was clearly in a funk when he was called in to do the design. I showed the below inspo pics - First i wanted the glitter outlining on all nails with *two* finger freestyle designs. He STRUGGLED to do just the glitter outline on one finger and the glitter polish was super faint. He also did thee worst little swiggle on another finger. Then I say, no worries, let's just do *two* fingers--no outlining; nothing on others--with the line designs like the second picture. Cue meltdown. He ranted they don't have foil (huh?) and that you have to request a design when setting an appointment. I reminded him it was my first time but now I know even though I wasn't asked. And, it's simply odd he couldn't handle two finger line designs. I say it's OK if you can't do it, let's just keep it plain. He went on and on continuing to chastise me or vent, idk, until I told him he should really stop talking, I heard him the first 10 times. Though I was trying to keep it cute, he was *this* close to seeing a different person. I walked into this salon and was so surprised to see Queenie and Dan, whom I'd met at Pinky Nails years ago. I'm so glad to be reunited with them!! Queenie's Nails is such a cute spot on the third and fourth floor of a building right on I Street, and you'll find that they offer everything you need to get your hands and feet right. I got a gel XL manicure and milk and honey pedicure, and I'm so happy with the service. Right as you sit down, they immediately offer you a beverage, you go through colors, you can bring in photos of designs, and they take their time with you. Parking is a bit of a hassle, dealing with the meters, but finding a place that gives such great service and leaves you feeling and looking good makes it all worth it. Queenie is such an artist. We showed photos of how we wanted our nails, and she eyeballed it for a minute and leveled up the designs like it wasn't a challenge. Dan is a long-time favorite of mine--he is meticulous in his approach, pays close attention to detail, and gives the best massage. I just love him! They do quality work here. Ambiance/decor: They offer you refreshments I didn't drink anything cause I wasn't sure if it was complimentary or not. They have a nice selection of nail polishes OPI and CND nail polish brands. Price value: My gel manicure with design and basic pedicure was $127 before tip. It's pretty pricey I think they charged me a design fee for each nail but you get what you paid for but I do really like how my nails turned out. Quality: My nails look very clean, pristine, and the design looks just like the inspiration photo I showed them. My nail tech also really cleaned my cuticles. I assembled a dining room table and my manicure is still flawless. However a week later from my pedicure my skin on the soles of my feet started peeling/flaking. I've never had that happen from a pedicure before. Not sure if it is because my feet are dry or reaction? Service: I called for a same day appointment and they were able to schedule me. You confirm your appointment through text/online. My nail tech really took his time painting my nails probably 2 hours total for both gel manicure and basic pedicure. My only complaint is that they don't really massage you and after my gel manicure my hands were very dry and I had to remind him for lotion. Also I paid using Venmo and they were having issues with their computer system for reward so the guy just took down my phone number. I love Patsy's Nail Salon. My fave, best-ever nail tech, Queenie, works here, and she is consistently making my nails look amazing. Whether I bring in a reference pic, have only a vague sense of what I want, or have literally no idea, save for a "I'm going to a wedding? So... classy?", Queenie nails it (pun more or less intended). She's super friendly, talented, and thoughtful. She has also been a cheerleader for my natural nails! The first two times I went, I got the Gel-X manicure. After having those on my hands for 5-ish weeks, my natural nails were long enough to look... well... faux. Queenie encouraged me to give my nails a break and go natural, which, with her excellent polish work, were strong and healthy - so much so, that when I told friends they were looking at my natural nails, they didn't believe me! Then I, of course, got cocky and began using my nails as tools (not jewels!), and broke a nail. We've switched back to Gel-X for the time being, and I've continued to be delighted with Queenie's installation technique and nail art skills. (See photo for my Guy Fieri-inspired nails). In terms of the salon itself: it's clean, well-lit, and the guys Queenie works with are really friendly and welcoming. Bonus: they are always playing fun music when I go. Rude owner/primary nail-designer; subpar time management (to the tune of +2.5 hours!). Please read the other reviews. I made the mistake of ignoring them for the images of their nail designs, and paid for it with more than just my time... The tale goes: I waited 2 hours and 45 minutes for a $118 pedicure and acrylic (manicure) removal; only one of which I planned for. The first hour, Queenie-- the owner/nail-designer I booked for a manicure and acrylic removal--sent her boyfriend to tell me she was running behind. 20 minutes after that, her sister came down to offer me a pedicure-- I hadn't indicated I wanted one, but I figured it would help me pass the time so I agreed. Another half hour later, I was done with the pedicure. Almost 2 hours now waiting for Queenie, I was growing frustrated. I asked to have my acrylic nails soaked off and decided to go home. I guess this roused some action... It was 8:45pm when Queenie came down to say her piece; her boyfriend was almost done taking my acrylic off... What happened next was unbelievably disrespectful and uncalled for, given my patience and genuine interest in patronizng their business. I thought Queenie's designs looked fab. Especially given the capacity gap in DC. But *nothing* justifies the flagrancy she exercised... Quick preface: I know everybody has bad days. I also know what gaslighting looks like. Queenie almost immediately began deriding me. Presumably because she just learned my patience had run its course. I was interrogated for getting a pedicure when I never indicated in my appointment that I wanted one-- she later admitted she sent her sister to offer that once she realized she was running behind. I was reprimanded for arriving at 6:35 for my 6:30 appointment. Then for not letting her finish explaining her (completely disjointed) timeline when I interrupted her to tell her "I don't need an explanation, just an apology"... halfway through my castigation, she had started scribbling doodles onto the table I was sat at, telling me to "listen!" insistent that she could somehow explain a 2 hour and 45 minute delay? Absurd. I'm a gentle person. Very non-confrontational. I was at a loss. I started to cry. I'd exercised so much patience and humility, only to be met with hostility from the get-go. I was so excited to get my nails done by her--her work looks great. But customer service trumps talent in this case. There are plenty of nail techs who can do a great job! Don't waste your time, money or energy getting a dressing down in lieu of a manicure. The pedicure was good. Her sister was nice. And everyone but Queenie was otherwise accommodating, given the circumstances. But she's the only one who does designs, soo... *Worth noting: It was my first time here. I had scheduled a week prior. And her staff's affiliation to Queenie and Queenie's Nail Salon was not disclosed to me until my confrontation with Queenie herself, 2 hours and 45 minutes after my appointment.* Additional disclaimers: there is an 18% auto-grat added to your total. What a horrible experience and a reflection of poor management. Exactly two weeks ago, I found this place on Yelp, looked at some of the reviews and thought to myself "this looks good enough to give a try" Poor decision on my end and poor recommendation by Yelpers. The Yelp page, business website, and their front door all mentioned business operations of 9am-8pm (Mon-Sat) Working with my job schedule, I decided to book a 9am appointment (2 weeks ago) through their website. The website of course sent me a notification exactly 3 days ago to remind me of my appointment. Excited for this experience, I arrived to my appointment at 8:54am and waited until 9:20am. Nobody showed up, the place was locked up and dark. How unprofessional and inconvenience could anyone be. I then proceeded to call, left a message wondering whether things were okay and if I should reschedule...nobody cared to reply and at this point I don't care if anyone does, I DO NOT support nor recommend businesses with poor business ethics and practices. Saved my money and went to another location in the area but this place was a major waste of time and money. I would never again visit this place or hold my breath on anyone being courteous enough to explain to a first time customer why they had to encounter a closed shop and no communication. Highly recommend! Made a last minute appointment for three individuals for manis and pedis. When we came in we had an additional person is our group and they had no problem accommodating her. When we came in we were offered complimentary champagne (don't mind if I do). We picked our colors and our services were started. The pedicure was great. I then got my manicure. I did the shellac and picked two colors (party nail!). I am so happy with how this turned out. I normally have to file my nails myself, I am very very particular about the shape. After the technician filed my nails, I checked them out and they were perfect. She noticed that I'm specific about the shape and made sure to get it how I like. This is the first manicure I've had in years where I didn't have to file them myself. That made me very happy. I wish I lived in the area because this would replace my normal salon! read more
