It was my first visit here and although there was no one at the desk, the nail tech nearest greeted me right away and helped me with my appointment :) Lexi was my nail tech and she was very careful with removing my gel extensions, letting me know it might get hot as she drilled, and she made sure to add pressure every now and then to keep it from getting painful. From a gorgeous chandelier, glass enclosed nail cabinets, mismatched furniture and just enough pops of color found in all the right places... this salon takes the cake! I think that finding a hair stylist you really like is like finding a boyfriend. I have been to 2 different places ever since I moved to Reno. The time to get a haircut was quickly approaching and I did not know where to go. I wasn't really happy with those 2 places and did not want to go back. One night, when I was out on the town I got super lucky and met Carla and 2 other beauticians at Beauty Boutique. I talked to Carla, the hairstylist, about my "issues" and she told me to give her a call. So I made an appointment. The place is not far from home and it is nice. There was no wait at all. Carla was ready for me as soon as I walked in. She listened to my expectations, made some suggestions and got to work. Carla is nice and personable and did a great job. She gave me the hair style I wanted it. When her job was done, Carla showed me the salon and the services that they offer. The store front seems small but it is a good size shop. They do everything: hair, nails, lashes, etc. I left the salon very happy and I am planning to go back. I was recommended to Jessica by my friend who was also recommended to her. My friend went in had a mediocre at best experience, but got "fun" nails so she recommended I try. I was reluctant because you HAVE to have an appointment. I am a walk on type but called and luck me they had an appointment available. I went and got my nails done. I was not aware of the fact they don't do glitter acrylic. She does polish then adds glitter. I don't like polish. She didn't file all the red giltter acrylic off from the set I had on. She does her thing, does polish, the red is showing still on the sides and the tips. My thumbs where horrible lumpy, my top coat was thin I could feel the glitter she put on. 8 days later one of my nails chipped and I called to tell her. She was rude I called and asked if she could fix them. It was Saturday morning about 11am. She said she could fix them Tuesday. What in the hell... Tuesday? In my opinion if you guarantee your work you should fit your client in to fix your mistakes asap. I ended up going to have my nails fixed elsewhere. I was beyond upset. Usually go to Diamond who does great but had been going to her for some time and wanted to try something, someone new.. I got referred to Lexi and had an overall good experience with her up until the end of our visits. I had canceled due to some personal issues without 24 hour notice and she said I needed to pay $25 for my last missed service which was understandable because she's missing out on money, I agreed to pay her the next time I had seen her.. 2 weeks go by with my texting her trying to get in her books and she now tells me she can no longer take me as a client due to "to many cancelled appointments" fine, wasn't upset she wasn't able to take me anymore was mad she waited 2 weeks to get back to me... a lot of miscommunication which I find extremely unprofessional. I ended up having the set on for 3 weeks total before I was able to get in with someone at another salon, keep in mind I can go 4+ weeks and not have any issues with my nails. I go to a new lady and she's drilling off lexis work and notices dark green under the acrylic.. fungus! Could of absolutely gotten worse over the span of 3 weeks I had the set on but the source was Lexi. I addressed the situation over the phone with her and she was rude and blocked me after. Loved this salon but I don't think I'll ever return due to Lexi not cleaning her tool correctly. read more

Carla Shelton is an ETHNIC HAIR STYLIST and she's BOMB! I recently moved to Reno and had a hard time finding a place that does ethnic/biracial hair. My hair is thick and pretty coarse and can be a pain in the butt if you don't know what you're doing. I was recommended to Carla by someone that used to got his dreads done by her. Yesterday, I had my first appointment with Carla, who was on time (actually, she was waiting for me when I walked in about 10 minutes early!), educated me about my hair and did an AMAZING job. My hair literally feels like silk! This time, I only did a relaxer and blowout but we have already discussed further services including coloring and/or extensions. She was fun to talk with, worked quickly and knew exactly what was going to be good for my coarse hair. She answered all of my questions about treatments I could do from home and gave me some useful tips on really keeping my hair healthy. When I first walked in, it took them 10 minutes to even acknowledge me. After that I just got a bad feeling. One girl glared at me and then jumped her head at me. That was just the beginning. I requested a Bob cut and and a few blonde highlights. She ended up butchering my hair and she left the blonde on way too long so my hair was fried. It was so damaged that I had to get several hair treatments. So I originally thought this place was lovely. The set up was nice, they offer you beverages while you wait, and the staff seemed to be okay. My first trip here was fine, got my hair trimmed and didn't leave looking foolish. My second trip here wasn't so lovely. I called ahead of time for some questioning. After confirming that they offered the service I was looking for and the price was decent I decided to get my nails done here. Came in and was scheduled with Kourtney, she seemed friendly. But then I was laughed at because my nails were poorly done and she made comments how crooked my nails were and after explaining my nail grows crooked, I was told it could be shaped better. Long story short, I left spending $65 after being told it would only be $40-$45. My nails were still poorly shaped. Less than a week later my nails chip. I call to see if anyone can fix it or if Kourtney could, she didn't have time. So they found another lady who was free but was going to charge me $5. I just paid $65 for my nails a week ago, why must I pay to get it fixed? My nails shouldn't chip less than a week after getting them done. I was told Kourtney guarantees her work. Well clearly she doesn't, she provides half assed work. What a waste of money and time. $65 for gel polish and hard gel on my real nails, not even worth it! read more

Britany Johnson did no accomplish the color I wanted on my hair. I ask her if she can dye my hair blue. she did so many procedures to my hair and nothing worked. At the end my hair ended dark black and now after a month the color is fading and you can see bleach spots all over my hair.: she then told me she can give free high lights for not willing to accomplish her work. Used a Deal Chicken for a 70 min Dermalogical facial with Trishia. Had a very early appt & was pleased to see she was there before me. Very pleasant experience & my skin looked great afterward.. Slight cons- the facial room is very close to the street & the semi truck noise messed with my Zen. Also, she didnt do any extractions. I met a really nice hairdresser who cut my hair the way I want it. However, trying to get a hold of anyone there is a nightmare. I kept trying to get a hold of her for over a week, only to find out she had been out of town the whole time and the salon didn't even know! And then I refer someone and they tell me that the price was much higher than I had told her. So I call the salon and leave a message saying I needed someone to call me because of all the problems I was having with their salon. I call again a couple days later and they tell me that my message was "rude" and they would rather not do business with me. In short they can't handle the fact that their salon messed up multiple times and upset a customer. These people really need a lesson in customer service. They should have apologized and fixed the problem. I didn't want a discount. She explained to me that everyone has different prices which I understood and would have been fine with, but then she proceeded to tell me that she would just rather not do business with me at all. If you want people who answer their phone, who know when their employees are even working, and are understanding when they have upset a customer and need to apologize: DON'T GO HERE read more
