I went next door to Unique Salons for a different appointment; After, I walked to my car when I noticed a new sign that said NEW OWNERS... I decided to do a walk-in. Everyone who approached me was so polite. I waited a few minutes before they pulled me back to the Pedí Chair. While I waited, they handed me a booklet to pick the color for my toes. I was helped by Jane. She was so polite, she was so patient and I feel like she went above and beyond to make sure I was relaxed and pampered. About a month ago, I went to my old nail place in another part of Reno... who also had new owners and boy did it seem too hectic with new rude employees who I felt were shoving suggestive items in my face. This NEW Top Coat Nail Bar gave me all the reasons why I should go back. Thank you Jane for all you did today; I was so relaxed I nearly dozed off in the quiet salon. read more

I have had pretty good & consistent service over the past 12 months as an adult, but I do not recommend bringing your child for a mani-pedi to Top Coat Nail Bar! Our manicurist was rude and lacked any initiative to provide the services listed within the services menu for an 8 year old. read more

I came to the salon as a recommendation from my mother. Her and my sister have been going there for a couple years. The girl who did my nails was very sweet. She worked very hard for two hours. I made an appointment to get my nails fixed when I went to the appointment they offered me my money back and not to fix the problem. I received a receipt stating I should have a credit. this was on August 31. as of today, the credit has not hit my account and I have to go somewhere else to get my nails fixed. I have never felt so belittled and pushed aside. Why schedule an appointment if you are not going to fix the problem? read more

Extremely overpriced. I had gel polish removed and the cost of removing gel polish from my fingers was more expensive than when I paid to have it put on. I will NEVER return here-I felt completely taken advantage of and on top of that the stylist cut my nails extremely short and I had to go home and re-file them because they were catching on things. I used to loveee coming here for my pedicures. Everytime in the past that I've had Tony or JJ my toes come out so perfect. I went in today and while they're always great at accommodating walk-ins, the tech I had today didn't do that good of a job :( several of my cuticles are flooded and the polish on several toes is lumpy and not as smooth and even as it should be. Not sure if it's worth it to try to get a refund or get the pedicure fixed since I've never had a pedicure this bad and I don't know what their policy in regards to this. Only reason I did 2 stars instead of 1 is because I've never had any issues with coming in for a walk-in and everyone's always been so kind and friendly here, but not sure if I'll come back for my next pedicure read more

Another churn and burn nail salon that can't do more than simple nail designs and charge for EVERY single thing. Had decent experiences up until recently. The person that did my nails was very aggressive. Kept pulling my arm and aggressively hitting my hand to get my attention. Didn't ask my nail shape. I asked for the old nails to be taken off and was ignored. I asked again, the tech said they were already grinded off. Okay? The last time I went, I had broken a nail, and mid way through tells me they have to charge extra to add a tip. At this point you're just paying for them to do whatever they want and tipping to be courteous. Not for actual good service. On to the next salon. I really want to like this salon but I just can't get on board with paying for mediocre service and sour customer service. Then I'm just seeing some of the more intricate designs and I'm like???? Maybe they just don't want to do it for me. Mind you the things are ask for arent excessive. I also wanted to add that after paying $60, they chipped the next day. read more

Decided it was a "treat yourself" kinda day a few weeks back and stopped at this spot after reading some good reviews. Although they were packed, they had enough staff to get me in for a manicure within 10 minutes. We had set up a pedi appointment more than 24 hours ahead. Got there on time. Was told to sit down. Waited and waited Nothing. Saw other customers who came in after is with appointments got taken care of except us. You would be better off going somewhere else where your time is going to be valued. Price was absolutely no where near the quality or service Made an appointment in advance and was taken almost 45 mins later Technician had no clue the differences in pedicure packages I said i just wanted one with a massage she said that only one specific one had it (the most expensive) i didnt get it. The "jelly" that is supposed to be a big part of the markup smelled awful "natural aloe" is not supposed to be lime green Pedicure was very good but not worth the price i paid I had picked two colors (that matched as close as possible) for pedi and mani and was told i didnt have to that they had the same color for gel and dip with the same code My hands are basically translucent with a hint of pink instead of the clearly pastel and opaque baby pink of my toes. I showed a picture of the design i wanted they said no problem All of a sudden i get an ok cash or credit and i asked about the design. The response i got "sorry i got distracted" i said ok but they can still be done yes. The response "thank you see you next time" i asked if the color would darken - he said ok yes its the same color. Incredibly frustrating to pay so much money and not get good quality and still not get two big aspects i was looking for. read more

Today, I'm at a different salon and whatever monomer Top Coat used is essentially impermeable and impossible to remove. I am highly suspect an illegal monomer was used.
