I went next door to Unique Salons for a different appointment; After, I walked to my car when I noticed a new sign that said NEW OWNERS... I decided to do a walk-in. Everyone who approached me was so polite. I waited a few minutes before they pulled me back to the Pedí Chair. While I waited, they handed me a booklet to pick the color for my toes. I was helped by Jane. She was so polite, she was so patient and I feel like she went above and beyond to make sure I was relaxed and pampered. About a month ago, I went to my old nail place in another part of Reno... who also had new owners and boy did it seem too hectic with new rude employees who I felt were shoving suggestive items in my face. This NEW Top Coat Nail Bar gave me all the reasons why I should go back. Thank you Jane for all you did today; I was so relaxed I nearly dozed off in the quiet salon. read more

I've been hopping between nail spas for the past couple years [until this last year] due to lacking service; when service doesn't serve or show care about retaining patronage any longer, I get the hint, and shop around for a place that will - especially in a competitive market. Well, I can now say that Anna at Top Coat Nail Bar has won me over. She takes the time to listen to what I am asking for and delivers. It's now been about a year, and I'm still sticking around. I came to the salon as a recommendation from my mother. Her and my sister have been going there for a couple years. The girl who did my nails was very sweet. She worked very hard for two hours. I made an appointment to get my nails fixed when I went to the appointment they offered me my money back and not to fix the problem. I received a receipt stating I should have a credit. this was on August 31. as of today, the credit has not hit my account and I have to go somewhere else to get my nails fixed. I have never felt so belittled and pushed aside. Why schedule an appointment if you are not going to fix the problem? read more

I've been a consistent customer at Top Coat Nail Bar for almost 5 years, and I can't recommend it enough! Lana is truly the best. She's quick but never rushes, always delivers beautiful, consistent designs, and her attention to detail is unmatched. On top of her talent, she's so funny and personable; appointments with her are always a highlight of my week. Lee and Cynthia are also amazing--friendly, skilled, and always make you feel welcome. Top Coat does such an amazing job every time, no matter which technician you get! My favorites are Lana and Cynthia, but everyone else is also great. I've tried out so many different designs, shapes, lengths, and no matter what I ask for, they do a fantastic job every single time. The technicians are very friendly and form personal connections with their clients, which is rare! Overall, very great customer service, clean, and amazing quality. Extremely overpriced. I had gel polish removed and the cost of removing gel polish from my fingers was more expensive than when I paid to have it put on. I will NEVER return here-I felt completely taken advantage of and on top of that the stylist cut my nails extremely short and I had to go home and re-file them because they were catching on things. Would not recommend this nail salon. read more

The new owners are very committed to ensure that the best parts from the former owners are kept. The quality of the work I've had done here is nothing short of incredible. It has a boutique vibe-very chic without making you feel as if you fell into Barbie's townhouse. I enjoy getting my mani/pedis here. I love how my nails look when I am done. I used to loveee coming here for my pedicures. Everytime in the past that I've had Tony or JJ my toes come out so perfect. I went in today and while they're always great at accommodating walk-ins, the tech I had today didn't do that good of a job :( several of my cuticles are flooded and the polish on several toes is lumpy and not as smooth and even as it should be. Not sure if it's worth it to try to get a refund or get the pedicure fixed since I've never had a pedicure this bad and I don't know what their policy in regards to this. Only reason I did 2 stars instead of 1 is because I've never had any issues with coming in for a walk-in and everyone's always been so kind and friendly here, but not sure if I'll come back for my next pedicure read more

Another churn and burn nail salon that can't do more than simple nail designs and charge for EVERY single thing. Had decent experiences up until recently. The person that did my nails was very aggressive. Kept pulling my arm and aggressively hitting my hand to get my attention. Didn't ask my nail shape. I asked for the old nails to be taken off and was ignored. I asked again, the tech said they were already grinded off. Okay? The last time I went, I had broken a nail, and mid way through tells me they have to charge extra to add a tip. At this point you're just paying for them to do whatever they want and tipping to be courteous. Not for actual good service. On to the next salon. I really want to like this salon but I just can't get on board with paying for mediocre service and sour customer service. Then I'm just seeing some of the more intricate designs and I'm like???? Maybe they just don't want to do it for me. Mind you the things are ask for arent excessive. I also wanted to add that after paying $60, they chipped the next day. read more

Decided it was a "treat yourself" kinda day a few weeks back and stopped at this spot after reading some good reviews. Although they were packed, they had enough staff to get me in for a manicure within 10 minutes. Everyone was very friendly and professional, she did a wonderful job with my nails, not rushing even though people were waiting. The space is nice and clean and they use OPI which I appreciate. We had set up a pedi appointment more than 24 hours ahead. Got there on time. Was told to sit down. Waited and waited Nothing. Saw other customers who came in after is with appointments got taken care of except us. You would be better off going somewhere else where your time is going to be valued. Price was absolutely no where near the quality or service Made an appointment in advance and was taken almost 45 mins later Technician had no clue the differences in pedicure packages I said i just wanted one with a massage she said that only one specific one had it (the most expensive) i didnt get it. The "jelly" that is supposed to be a big part of the markup smelled awful "natural aloe" is not supposed to be lime green Pedicure was very good but not worth the price i paid I had picked two colors (that matched as close as possible) for pedi and mani and was told i didnt have to that they had the same color for gel and dip with the same code My hands are basically translucent with a hint of pink instead of the clearly pastel and opaque baby pink of my toes. I showed a picture of the design i wanted they said no problem All of a sudden i get an ok cash or credit and i asked about the design. The response i got "sorry i got distracted" i said ok but they can still be done yes. The response "thank you see you next time" i asked if the color would darken - he said ok yes its the same color. Incredibly frustrating to pay so much money and not get good quality and still not get two big aspects i was looking for. read more

Horrible staff member who yelled at and berated my spouse in front of all other customers, due to her being dissatisfied with her nails. She was allowed to embarrass her as no other staff bothered to stop her completely unprofessional behavior. Ridiculous that any of this was allowed to happen. read more

I went to this salon 3 times, my first experience was great but the last 2 were frustrating. Honestly, I could have done a better job painting my nails myself than having to pay for it. I had gel nail polish manicure done the first two times, then changed it to regular top coat polish only. The polish is so uneven, also it took almost two hours. I will never come back. read more

OMG. This place is such a rare gem here in Reno. I came here yesterday for my first time & was beyond delighted. The place itself is super clean, organized, and spacious! You can tell the owners take good care of the place. I got a full set of acrylics done by the owner (I forget her name) & she did such an amazing job all for an affordable price. My nails look high quality even though she managed to get them done in just an hour. The best part is she was very engaging with me as a customer & I was enjoying our conversation so much that it felt like my nails only took ten minutes. 5 stars for a clean place, friendly staff, & a quality job done. I visited this salon on August 1st 2022. I had acrylic placed over my natural nails. The woman who performed my service was subpar but the salon appeared hygienic. Today, I'm at a different salon and whatever monomer Top Coat used is essentially impermeable and impossible to remove. I am highly suspect an illegal monomer was used. I would not recommend as these illegal monomers are harmful to your heath. read more

She was kind, professional, and very attentive to detail. She explained each step of the service, which made the experience feel thoughtful and personalized. I also noticed how clean and organized everything was. All tools were individually packaged in sanitary envelopes, and single use items like nail files were properly discarded after use. Lucy checked in throughout the service to make sure I was comfortable, asking about massage pressure, towel temperature, and water temperature. It made a big difference. The overall atmosphere was calm and relaxing, and I could see the staff actively cleaning and sanitizing their stations, which gave me a lot of confidence in their standards. I also appreciated that all add ons were clearly explained beforehand, so there were no surprises at checkout. Anyway, I found Pewter on Yelp and after reading the philosophy of the owner, I knew I had to go. It's about nail health at this business! Yesterday, I had my first appt. Brytnii took amazing care of my hands and feet and taught me so much about how to care for my sad nails. Brytnii knows her stuff and I feel like crying because I can now see a way forward with my nails. The difference before and after is mind blowing! Seems like a small problem maybe but I am so pleased and relieved with everything during my manicure and pedicure. This is a darling place, that is super clean and welcoming. I love Brytnii!! I've had friends mention how much they like Eden so I thought, why not give it a try? And I'm so glad I did! The ambiance is clean, bright and fun. I went in for a pedicure (with an appointment) and didn't have to wait at all. My nail tech was friendly and professional. I was impressed that they offered drinks and they even gave everyone a long stem rose since it was Mother's Day weekend--these are the kind of nice touches that set places a part from the rest. The pedicure itself was high quality and only took 45 minutes. Although the price is slightly higher than the other place, I'm more than happy to pay more for a better experience. I will definitely be back!
