There is a very large selection and the store is always clean and the shelves well stocked although on this day, they didn't have the shampoo I was looking for. Went in here to purchase cologne for myself. When walking in I watched 3 of the employees on the floor talking about unimportant personal issues instead of helping customers. This location is weird and doesn't allow you to test the cologne so I had no access to look for new products due to the employees being unavailable talking amongst each other. Decided to go to Sephora to purchase my cologne and will no longer be trusting Ulta no reason to pay a premium on products if there is no customer service offered at all in store. so I've gone to this location a few times for hair products for my daughter and I. they have some really nice stuff for cg methods. however today I went in thinking maybe they had some 40v cream that I could use on deer bones. I have a jaw and leg bone for a project and asked if they had any so I could bleach these bones. Of course the manager said no because they also have a hair salon and they do hair coloring. Cool. I'll go to Sally's and get some. Well, apparently they called the cops and told them I had human remains that I'm bleaching & the cops ended up coming to my house and I showed them both bones and of course they were deer bones and not human... so fun. I came in and had my hair done by Megan S. at the end of November. I went from red to a level 5 brown. When it was done it looked jet black and was shocking. She assured and promised me it would fade to the color I was shown. It is now January and I have washed it countless times. It is still almost jet black with a few random lighter areas. I told Megan this and instead of owning up to her mistake or offering to fix it, I can pay for a color correction and pay to get it re dyed. She said we had a "consultation" which is correct but this was never mentioned in the consultation. She said my hair was damaged and that's why the color stuck. If that was the case why wouldn't the stylist make the client aware of what would happen? I am not a senior hair stylist. I put my trust in the senior hairstylist and now I get to pay for a correction when this wasn't my fault. I will never come back here. I had seen her many times before and never had this experience. Horrible customer service. "Sorry you feel that way, sorry it pulled dark, sorry you're unhappy, I wish you the best" Very professional... I actually like this beauty brands! Every single time I step inside they always ask me if I'm looking for anything in particular and help me locate the item. I have bought a Chi from them, and lots of shampoo. I love when they have their liter sale! It truly is an amazing sale. Love to stock up on Paul Mitchell and Redkin! I have had my hair cut here before and honestly I probably will never come back. Not because it wasn't a good job, but because it's pretty expensive. I know a lot of people are okay with paying close to 150+ for a trim and color but I just won't do it! I love going to Main Street Salon and seeing Katie. She does just as good as a job, if not better, and it's half the cost! Almost all of my friends, my mom, and my friend's moms go there now! I do come here to get my eyebrows done and they do a great job at that. It typically depends who does them, but the lady who I like costs 17. I was kind of shocked at first when I found out what she costs, but she does a way better job than anyone else I have ever gone to. Her name is Jamie and she does a fabulous job! I also really like Smashbox, and they carry their cosmetics. And they obviously have Opi, and a much better selection than Walgreens or Target. read more

I just had my first beauty appointment here. I got my eyebrows and lip waxed by Sylvia. She is seriously the best I've ever had do my waxing. She gave a GREAT consultation before even starting to make sure I had no regrets when we finished. She walked through things step by step. During the actually waxing, she was very good. There was light flute music playing in the speaker and the room was very calming. I liked the atmosphere. The only reason I took off a star was because when I walked in for the appointment, the staff did not tell me that the prices were higher for Sylvia since she is a 'master esthetician' and not a 'stylist' so it was more expensive when I went to pay than I was expecting based on the price in the brochure. Today I actually ran into a really nice employee, but her manager ruined the experience when I asked a simple question and she seemed completely irritated. Ok, that subject line might be a little dramatic, but what an incredible turn-around this has been for me. Within a few minutes of receiving the notification from the corporate office on Monday, Alex, the St. Charles store manager, called me to discuss my previous experience. She started off by apologizing as she was unaware of how upset I was when I left the store. I explained to her that I was very frustrated and didn't want to cause a scene so I just left. She said that she appreciated that, but that it was still important to her to know where her stylist's opportunities for growth are, and that feedback like this is taken very seriously. She was politely adamant about giving the store, specifically herself and Mercedes, the opportunity to make it up to me. She worked with my busy schedule and was able to make time on my lunch break to have some cleanup done. As I entered the store today, Alex was waiting for me and greeted by name with a smile. She let me know that Mercedes was ready and waiting for me, and offered me a beverage while she went to get her. While I did detect a couple of "is that the guy?" glances from some of the other employees, I don't think they were unwarranted. It was very clear to me that it was in fact of the utmost importance to Alex, Mercedes, and indeed Beauty Brands to redeem themselves. As I sat I briefly sat in Mercedes' chair, another stylist came by and again offered me a coffee / soda/ water, and let me know that she would be right out. I felt like royalty, and while I certainly don't expect this kind of treatment every time I go to get a trim, it made me feel like I mattered. After a very brief wait, Alex returned with Mercedes and we all went over the haircut that I'd received together, as well as looked at the pictures I'd previously brought in to show Lisa. They discussed the means that were available to make some adjustments to the cut and lay of my hairstyle so that while they obviously weren't able to grow it back, they could get it back into something more manageable and stylish in the interim. This next part is really important to me, as a customer and as a human being. Both Mercedes and Alex were able to empathize with me without disparaging Lisa. This is huge, and it's often something that's overlooked in the modern customer service experience. Often times it'd be easy for the manager to give me the "best friend treatment"... "Oh this is terrible! What was she thinking!" etc etc. This wasn't the case. While we were all sure that perhaps she hadn't been comfortable with the cut I was looking for, both Alex and Mercedes handled it with the utmost professionalism. None of the hospitality they offered me felt pretentious or condescending, and yet they were still able to sympathize with my frustration and make amends. Alex had to leave at that point as she was on a conference call, but said she would try and come back to check in if she could. Then it was Mercedes' powers as a magical hair wizard that transformed my unfortunate mop into something that made me feel confident, stylish, and attractive again. She took her time to make sure that she got every detail just right, and wasn't afraid to speak up when I showed concern. She used her knowledge of the craft to set me at ease and explained the process from beginning to end, including a "now watch this" moment that pulled it all together in a way that I didn't think would be possible. She recommended some new product for me, something a little tackier to help keep the hair in place until it grows out a little more, and she left momentarily to grab some off the floor. At this point, Alex came back from the conference call that was still going on to check in. She commended Mercedes on the adjustments that were made and offered up a suggestion of similar product for different occasions to pull it all together. At the register I was given an unexpected 30% off of my purchase, as well a 10% off coupon for my next visit, which I assured both of them was going to happen. That's right, I scheduled out my next appointment with Mercedes 6 weeks from now, and I left with that bounce in my step that had been missing a few days prior. They really, truly went out of their way to go the extra mile for me, and they should be applauded for it. read more

I usually only come to Beauty Brands for a walk-in brow wax, and I don't leave disappointed. After an awful experience with a nail salon wax (I know I know, I should have known better) I've become very particular about how they are done, and have never had an issue here. For shopping, however, I find the selection disappointing, and the staff always seem to be frazzled. Despite there usually being someone available for a quick wax, I've always felt like an inconvenience for showing up and paying for their services. But yet I will keep doing it for the end result, which is on point brows. read more

I went here a while back and I ended up leaving with worse hair than i started with. I wanted my hair to be dyed back to my natural color and a trim to get the dead ends off. The lady who did my hair charged me for dye she didn't even use, then proceeded to tell me my natural hair color is ugly so she went darker. The hair cut was in even and it's taken ages for it to grow out enough so i could get it fixed. Most definitely will not be coming back. read more

I broke my rule and went back here last week. I needed a few things and was in a hurry. It's been a year and I thought - okay- it can't be that bad. The girl that helped me look for a particular hair product was very nice and helpful. When she couldn't find exactly what I needed, she took me to the counter. Three employees were gathered here. One was in charge. Attitude was snobby and uncooperative. Why? No reason. Okay. I just wanted to buy something. The female in charge was discussing another customer in front me. Wow. I also needed mascara. I'd picked a Tarte one, but was told that the Better Than Sex mascara, displayed by the register, was better. Bought the hair item and the mascara. Better than Sex mascara is the worst I have ever used. This store continues to have poor customer service. Poor product knowledge. Very, very unprofessional training. read more

This store has great prices during the liter sale...only time I will shop here. The customer service sucks when checking out. I have been in line 3x recently and it appears as if all the associates are busy so I wait. Then someone walks up on the other side and they help them...um did you not see the line?? Then the last time the girl saw me in line and called me over. In the process of walking over, someone yet again tried to cut in line. My daughter went to to buy her yearly supply of shampoo. She forgot the name and asked the sales lady. She explained that she has oily hair. The lady replied, "stop washing your hair". We were looking for products not rude advice. My poor daughter was horrified that she would would suggest a thing without any explanation. My experience here was not very good. Before I bash on the place, I just have to say that the manager was so kind and helped me out when I wasn't happy with my results. What I need to say is the hair lady who did my hair was not good at all. I walked in asking for my hair to be dyed my natural color, with subtle highlights. Did I get that? Hell no. I ended up with dark brownish-red hair with no highlights, and a shitty haircut that could have been does better by a 3 year old. She had several excuses as to why it wasn't what I wanted but none of them were good. One being I passed on the $54 filler she offered, and she said that all it would do is cause my color to last longer. Therefore, I decided to pass. After my hair was done, my hair was really warm toned and I asked why (my hair is naturally an ashy blonde) and she said "well if I did your natural color it would be the color of mud so I decided to go with a warm tone." That I'm sorry but I'm your client and the last time I checked I am paying you to do as I say, not as you want. Little did I know the filler would also make my natural color look better, in which if she had told me that I would have chosen to use the filler. Yet, she refrained from telling me that information and just decided to go with what she thought was best. Not to mention, I told her to TRIM my hair, and I ended up getting 3 or 4 inches chopped of, not by choice. All in all, I got an $130 hair treatment for what it was actually worth for $29, thanks to their great manager. He's so extremely nice, yet the others are not so great. I cannot believe all the bad reviews on this place. Aly is a hairstylist there and she is amazing! I was paying way too much for salon services and then I met Aly. I get compliments all the time on my hair both color and cut. The staff is alway helpful and friendly. I love how people only go out of their way to fill out surveys and write reviews when they arent happy but most of the time nobody talks about the good experiences. read more

AMY is the WORST esthetician I have every met...she told me that she waxes 8 year olds all the time, I guess in an effort to reassure me that my 14 year old is not too young or maybe that she is experienced in waxing. (?) Unfortunately, she BURNED my 14 year old and ripped off nearly a full thickness of her eyelid!!! Then Amy tried to blame it on my daughter for possibly using skin care cream that made her skin sensitive-which she does not use nor ever has in her life used any skin cream with salicylic acid, but she proceeded to tell me that it may not even be on the label, or said it was due to her recent sun burn-but her eye lids weren't sunburned and she was slightly sunburned a few days ago and she doesn't even have any sign of it today, but the REAL reason the skin on her eyelid lifted is because Amy didn't know what she was doing and her eyebrow is now burned! She tried to tell us, "It is not a BURN!" "the skin lifted!" "I'm an Esthetician and I've been waxing people all day with this wax!" She became very rude and defensive, she tried to offer to put some 'dermatologica' (I think?) brand ointment on it. I refused only because she was going to use the sample tube from the floor and I feared contamination=infection, as well as that I think putting oil on a fresh burn is known to sort of seal in the heat and make the burn worse! So, she said that then she would have to document that I refused, and said, "well, I have to document the whole thing anyway." I'm very glad she has to document the injury...I wonder how many injuries you get to cause before you lose your job there? She was very unprofessional the entire time, and now that I think about it, I should have left just at the sight of her! She has bright red/orange and black dyed hair that looks trashy and she had dirty nails! She also put the little wood stick in her mouth! She tweezed the other eye to make them match and she told me to put vit E oil from a capsule on it. I did NOT pay her. There was no manager on duty tonight but I will be filing a formal complaint tomorrow. Buyer be ware is all I can say! read more
