I mostly chose this…read moreplace due to the convenience of scheduling an appointment online, but the reviews were also promising. The lady who trimmed my hair did a decent job and was nice. My review, however, is for an atrocious experience I had with the owner, Brandi Wilson. My sister's first time at Envy didn't go as well as mine. Someone there attempted a balayage that... Well, let's just say she's had to spend hundreds of dollars correcting at other salons. Unsure of how the refund process works, she took me with her to speak with the manager about it. Ms. Wilson was with a client when we walked in. Awkwardly, my sister had to explain her situation while Ms. Wilson washed another lady's hair. She barely looked at us and acted like we were an annoying distraction from her work. Nevertheless, my sister kindly explained that the stylist didn't use the freehand painting technique that one uses for a proper balayage. Instead, she used foils from root to tip, all over, which resulted in chunky highlights that didn't naturally blend in. It was not a balayage in any way, shape, or form. (Picture attached.) Ms. Wilson saw that picture and didn't see anything wrong with it. She responded, first, with a lecture on what balayage is in an effort to discredit us - with misinformation, no less. She said balayage "isn't necessarily a technique" - no, it is a technique. That's literally what it is, what makes it special in the first place - the unique application. The more she talked about it, the more ignorant and patronizing she came across. She told us we have to talk to the stylist and that she could give us the stylist's number. All well and good. But then she left us standing there and continued picking apart my sister's complaint. She kept saying unhelpful, inflammatory things like, "Well if you'd talked to [the stylist] first maybe she would've fixed your hair for free." I don't know if she was in a bad mood or what, but she wanted to argue. Understandably I was irritated by this, but I stayed calm. I said we didn't want the original stylist to fix my sister's hair. Ms. Wilson acted like she had been personally attacked. She raised her voice and became visibly angry, demanding, "What do you want me to do?" I tried to say we just wanted the stylist's number but she kept talking over me. It made us very uncomfortable, so I had to tell her to chill. She seriously needed to calm down; there was no need for her to get defensive and escalate the situation. Instead, she lost it. She started yelling. She told us to leave before she called the police. She shouted, and I quote, "Exit my fricken business!" I was beyond done and going to leave, but we still needed the stylist's number for a refund. So I asked her, calmly, "Could you please give us [the stylist's] contact information?" I thought it was a reasonable request. Still enraged, she snapped, "You know what? Find it online." (We have this exchange on video, by the way.) Admittedly I did call her a name right before I left, but it was my only act of aggression in the whole mess and, frankly, she deserved it after the way she treated us. I will be doing what Ms. Wilson said and staying out of her "fricken" business for good. I'm telling everyone I know to avoid Envy as well. There are better salons in the area that are professional, friendly, and highly skilled - Tease and Ross Michaels comes to mind. Ms. Wilson needs to work on basic customer service skills because this does not bode well for any business. As the owner you represent your entire salon, your staff - even if they are independent contractors. You need to treat customers with care and respect. Don't be condescending. Don't make excuses. A little empathy goes a long way. Doing a little research on balayage wouldn't hurt, either.

Why it was frizzy (shampoo), knotty (needed a haircut/highlights) & why some pieces were frizzy & some were curly and more. I've never seen my curls look this good & had someone take the time & interest in teaching me the technique. (If you have curly hair you know you walk into a salon and once they see that you have curly hair: they'll not only cringe & try and get you in and out of the chair ASAP, but they'll also charge an arm and then a leg). WELL the Deva Curl cut (1st time) cost $50. SO --if you have curly hair I definitely recommend going here!

In preparation for my vacation I booked a perm at Seaport Salon, The stylist did a great job…read morewrapping the perm, was timely etc, she suggested the rods to use to give me a curl perm~unfortunately I rated them before I realized the perm was going to disappear a little bit after every washing, I did not realize I needed to call them within 48 hours if I had a problem with the perm, kind of hard to do that when i was told not to wash my hair for a couple days, oops the 48 hours would be up, I lost my $185 + tip and I have nothing to show for it. Beware if you go there, read the waiver they have you sign also, appears they have themsselves covered and have to do NOTHING for you to fix the problem.

The first time I went there Michael and Kimberly were very pleasant and they did a decent job with my hair (cut and color). The next time I went I felt rushed and not listened to. The last time I went Kimberly was not pleasant at all. I asked her to do the same color job as last time and she left the front (headband) gray. I told her I wanted it light blond with some dark blonde lights so when the gray started growing in 2 weeks it would blend and not look like a white circle around my face. It was like she didn't hear me it all and I had to ask her to do it over. She did but she wasn't happy about it. Then Michael cut my hair and I would swear he was in his man-period. He didn't say 2 words to me and rushed through the cut like he was a million miles away. The last time I went there I showed pictures of the cut and color. I ended up looking nothing like the photos. If they thought my hair would not work in the style or color I wanted they should have said so and offered me an alternative. They didn't say anything and it felt like they just did what they wanted and ignored me. Needless to say I was even farther from what I wanted for my hair. I gave up and now its been about 8 months since I did anything to my hair. I think Michael and Kimberly are burned out so it depends on how they are feeling on the day you come in.

Getting an appointment was easy, although I did not need *all* of the reminders they sent, and staff was pleasant as well. *After another local stylist had a shot, my partner described my hair as "Hitler Youth." The electronic form failed to come through so I asked for a paper copy so I could get on with my appointment. My stylist didn't even look at it so I don't understand why I needed to go through that... towards the end of my appointment, another client arrived for my stylist and I could tell the receptionist gave her a heads up to finish up with me to get to the next client. Otherwise, my experience in trying out a new stylist was great. Katie listened to what I desired and worked with me to ensure I understood the process and if I'd be comfortable with our plans. Here are just a couple of examples: Adara cancels pre-paid packages out of the blue with no warning. Adara upgraded their booking system and put the onus on their clients to manually re-enter all of their information instead of just merging it. Adara cancels appointments at check-in that clients have booked weeks in advance. Adara doesn't have the courtesy to call. Clients walk in for their appointment and tell them it's canceled. Meanwhile, Adara's booking system has been text spamming clients for weeks insisting they reconfirm their appointments. It's just lousy customer service on many fronts. Again, I don't blame the stylists. Just terrible business management.

I went in with my hair totally unstyled, which is pretty curly/full of body, and explained that I wanted more layers added through out and straight across bangs. She then proceeded to cut out HUGE chunks of hair, without getting it wet. She didn't shampoo or condition my hair (which I paid for) or get anything wet!! As she was maiming my hair, she added in a rather snotty voice that my hair really should have been straightened to have this sort of thing done. Ya think?!?!? The bangs she cut are way too long and totally uneven since they were basically dry when she cut them. I have large sections of really short hair, covered by sections of longer hair. She basically cut the layers in the very middle of my hair, not doing anything on top. One side of my head is cut shorter than they other. Needless to say, I am miserable. Not only did she destroy my hair, I now have to live with it until my hair grows out enough to fix and even things out. (Unless, of course, I want a pixie cut, which I don't!!) Not having all the cash from all the flights and hotels and rental cars I needed to GET my hair done. Rumors is a terrific place. They know what they're doing and they do it well....very well. Their focus is on your satisfaction. If it's not right, they'll make it right. Exapmle: I have had a few colour changes there and one of the changes didn't take all that well. I was asked if I could stay for a re-application or if I wanted to return to have it done. I, personally thought it looked fine, but apparently it was a bit transparent??? Anyway, I said I could stay and after the second application was rinsed out, I could see a major difference in the depth and brightness. I had no idea, but my stylist did. I must admit I am very happy with Rumors and plan to continue to go there to have my hair worked over. Lastly, would I recommend them to a friend? ABSOLUTELY!!
