This place is great! Drinks and the dancers are all too friendly and a great place to end your day. I've been coming almost every Wednesday for drinks for the past couple of months. Unfortunately today, one of the security guys was EXTREMELY RUDE!!! It's a black older guy (on his 50s maybe) and while we were leaving he screamed at us and my friend asked why was he being rude and he responded with "I can be rude to whoever the fuck i want". I went to this club on a Tuesday night. It was the only place in the Castro with a dance scene that night. When we first got there at a little after 10pm it was pretty quiet but by 11/11:30 it had picked up and the floor was poppin! The target audience was gay men. As a queer woman I had a great time and made a few friends! I'd recommend this club if you're looking for a dance scene in the Castro during the week! read more

Apparently there's a local gay man's club that meets here weekly (filled in by an elderly gay Phillip who is a fixture here and super friendly). Fantastic jazz trio that normally includes female pianist who is apparently out of town for the Grammy's (also informed of this by Phillip). Let me see if I get this right... if you order hard liquor you get a wooden nickel entitling you to another drink (so basically buy one get one free). Again, thank you Phillip. The musicians gladly handed over some wooden nickels. Very kind. Really a great spot. read more

Last Sunday 01/10/23 I went to Beaux and after I ordered 3 beers and paid with my debit card a bartender offered me to leave my bill open... when I went to get a second round of drinks the bartender told me that I didn't know where my debit card was and I said I wanted it back and he called the security guards who attacked me inside the bar and when I called the police and filed a report for stealing and attacking the establishment... by the surprise of the universe They made charges on my bank account while the police were with me in another bar called Mix (which is owned by the same owners and in Beaux too). The police took a photo of my bank statement and now I'm going to sue them for stealing...fraud and assault...I recommend avoiding this place...many people told me that they are used to doing this to customers... and always sells excessive alcohol until people pass out from the place completely intoxicated... this place must be closed... I will report it to all competent bodies to investigate this place .. DON'T VISIT THIS PLACE IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE ROBBED. read more

Last night my partner I drove to SF to have a good night of fun and dancing. After walking around the Castro Area we decided to go to the night club Beaux. Soon as we walked in, we stepped up to the bar for drinks. I was standing in a clearly designated place to get served where I made eye contact with the bartender who was working in that area of the bar. When he was done waiting on the previous customer, this bartender walked back to the cash register and started counting money, then he started shuffling receipts as he made eye contact with me the second time. After another minute or so, he turned around and went to the opposite end of the bar and began to serve the white customers that was there after we were at the bar. I asked another bartender if I was standing in a place that wasn't a service space, the second bartender confirmed that I was in the right spot. So I asked why did the other bartender leave his post to wait on people at the opposite end of the bar and expressed how this made me feel. The second bartender asked me to look over it because the guy had fallen earlier and hurt his back. But clearly his back wasn't hurting him bad enough for him to stop working because he was busy serving and mixing drinks for other patrons who just happened to be white. This experience put a damper on what was a good night out for me and my partner. At this point, I will never return to Beaux. read more

I was told by my friends that this place is so fun and lively to come to and this drag events are amazing! Usually the people that work their mainly ( security & waiters) are very kind and respectful! But the Manager Joshua Cook is very disrespectful and has no, I mean NO COMMON CURIOSITY, NO RESPECT, NO GOOD MANNERS when it come to speaking with customers at all and you need that whole-heartily work in the restaurant industry! According to him we were at fault when two host communicated with us to be seated in front of a different property! Rude, racist, and breaking the rules themselves. So yesterday I went with three friends, we told them two more are joining us soon, so that's five people..... we were seated at table 24, across us was a group of seven people seated already. We were sitting, drinking and eating- the server was holding onto one of our cards... our friends arrived to us, one of the servers tells us it's four people max at a table, which is bs since there was a seven top seated already.... I didn't wanna argue so I immediately responded by saying "we'll close out." Then, after the server walked away the security guard abruptly came over, raised his voice at us, and rudely said "one of us has to disappear" (he didn't say anything at all to the seven top and neither did any of the servers.) I told the security guard we already told a server to close out. As soon as the security guard walked away another server pops out of nowhere in seconds and at this point it doesn't make sense why three staff and bothering us while we already told the first server to close out as soon as he told us it's four people max at a table (while they have a seven top). I was so annoyed I just told him we already requested to close us out, and the security guard was unnecessarily rude to us. That second server responded by saying, "well you guys are doing many things wrong." Moral of the story: seven straight cis white people can get special treatment but when it's a table of diverse ethnicities we face rudeness, unfairness, and we are accused of doing "many things wrong." I don't know if the actual law is four people max at a table, however I do know staff at Beaux choose when and at who to enforce that rule on. We are never going back here. My friends love this place. I've been here maybe 5 times and I've always had a blast. Music is great and prices are adequate. Can get crowded on popular nights but not too crowded where you can't dance. There is a cover charge after a certain time but not too much. My last visit didn't end so well. Even my friends would admit that it was crowded, which in fact it was crowded than usual. And someone swiped my phone. The bouncer and security the next day were nice enough to check if anyone turned anything in. So thank you for double checking. I'll be back for sure read more

Love the bar but loathe the general manager. He bartends the "main bar" downstairs in the corner nearest the exit door. I've witnessed him slap a girls hand as she reached for a straw, scold patrons for not tipping enough, and outright serve anyone else but myself or my friends after waiting for 20+ minutes. In fact, I would tell others near me who were promptly served that I've been waiting for much longer, to which they'd tell the GM to immediately serve me. He would then do so but very rudely. At first I thought this was just a bad day for the guy, but nope. It's happened too many times now on multiple visits to make me assume he just hates his job. I've spoken to multiple staff members about him, and he is well known for being arrogant and rude amongst the staff. I hope the owners really take notice of all the bad reviews on this guy and get him to shape up before you start losing customers over one bad apple. The door attendants are extremely rude, unpleasant, and aggressive - particularly the heavy-set white man with longer, dark hair. I was forcefully ushered out shortly after arriving for "attempting to go behind the bar," which never happened. I am still completely unsure of why they chose to kick me out. When I politely asked if I could grab my phone, which I'd left at the bar, they refused and said I'd have to return during the day. I asked if one of the attendants could grab it for me, and they refused. They were quick to become physically aggressive when I'd become fed up and went to grab it myself. 10/19/13 We came here for drinks before dinner on Saturday. The place is pretty fancy, more like a loungey type if place with three bars, two on main floor and one up on mezzanine. They have huge lounge chairs with high back by the window and some cushioned seating. Drinks are available well, not sure if they do happy hours on weekends. A whiskey sour and a lemon drop came to total of $12. Beaux doesn't blast music like The Cafe across the street or HiTops does. It's pretty easy going. The crowd is predominantly younger, tight jeans type of guys, with occasional professional-looking silver foxes! They play Top 40. Nice place to chill and hang out with friends. read more

I like it. I do. It's mellow, it's dark enough but bright enough. Music is loud enough but not overpowering. The bartenders are sexy but not acting like hookers. Okay, that last one wouldn't bother me to much, but I can't detract points for professionalism, in fairness. I think that it has to define itself yet. There's no restaurant or bar nearby to "feed" clientele in the door, and though we're only talking a couple of hundred feet between bars, it's enough to affect the flow of traffic. I couldn't tell you WHO hangs out here yet. Blackbird is preppy and hipster, 440 is daddy, Edge is leather, Cafe is hip-hop/urban, Hi Tops is jocks and jock wannabes... but Beaux, at least from my first impression, is a little identity-less. I suspect it would get busier if they picked a vibe and ran with it. As someone who frequents the Castro on a regular basis, Beaux has become my favorite bar in the neighborhood. The staff is warm and friendly (you're pretty amazing, Michael H. -- probably my favorite, along with TC ) and not to mention all are very very attractive. Unlike the other bars in the Castro, Beaux has a list of specialty drinks which are all very yummy -- I've tried all of them. It's fun every night of the week so be sure to swing by and treat yo self to a libation or four...who can beat 2-4-1 happy hour deals?! I found myself here on a Friday night after dinner with friends. I know I said that my clubbing days are over but this is a bar/lounge so that doesn't count, does it? My days of going to gay bars/clubs have been long gone so I felt a twinge of nostalgia when I walked into Beaux. It was MANimal night. It was nice lounge with comfortable seating and hot go go studs on the stage and in the window. It wasn't too crowded when we went which was great because I was able to walk around the club and check it out - coat room was in the back, next to the bathroom. I was DD so I can't comment on the drinks but they played great music. I've always been an electronica fan and the mix of Britney/Armin van Buuren/Notorious B.I.G was, to me, motivation to get on the small dance floor for a solid 2 hours. That's enough cardio for me for the day, thank you. It confirmed what I've always loved about gay bars/clubs - they have the best dance music! Bartenders were also handsome, polite, shirtless and attentive. Probably the best night club option in the Castro right now. For whatever reason, the crown for the "hottest, most popular weekend dance party" tends to rotate through various spots throughout the Castro. Right now, it's Beaux. Expect long lines on Fridays and Saturdays and a cover Thursday-Sunday. The go-go dancers are usually of exceptional high quality and the music is fun and catchy to do your own dancing. Bonus points for being one of only a couple places that accept credit card. read more

Loved the place. Small by fun. We went Tuesday night which wasn't very busy but still lots of fun. We also went again on Wednesday which was a blast. Very busy and lots of fun. Gogo dancers were lots of fun too. I took away one star because the drinks were for sure water downed. I'm a light egg and could tell the alcohol was water downed. Outrageous nonsense from this place. I'm here with two female friends. We're standing down the back of the club near the restrooms where there's a small ledge for your drinks. My friend goes buys us a round of vodka soda. She says she needs to pee, my other female friend says me too and off they go to the ladies. I'm left drinking my vodka soda with TWO UNTOUCHED vodka sodas on the ledge beside me. At the end of the bar there's a self-service water cooler thing. I take two sips of my new vodka, place it down beside my friends untouched drinks and step THREE FT in front of me to grab a glass of water. In the 10 seconds I did that, I turn around and SEE RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME a busboy throw our three new drinks right into his bin and walk off. I go to him and say, wtf did you just do, you just chucked 3 full drinks!?!? I was standing right here watching you. He says "there was nobody there so I chuck them, nothing I can do." I ask who the bar manager is, and he gives me the same spiel: "sorry nothing I can do. There's no way I can know for sure what happened!". I said "how about trusting your customers who have a receipt showing 3 drinks purchased less than 7 minutes ago which are now in a bin thanks to your staff!". Ridiculous and shady AF. Probably did it intentionally go get folks to buy more drinks. Wrong queen Mama, cos I'm not the one! Imagine a food equivalent - you go to a restaurant and order food.
