Always fun at 440 Castro! Great deals on drinks! Also, chill place, has good music, and awesome bartenders. Shoutout to our guys Tony (aka "daddy" as we had call him) and Kieth. Thank you for taking care of us. 440 Castro has been our go-to gay bar whenever we visit San Francisco. Not too big, not too small. It's just right. The bar is even decorative during the holidays. We plan to return sometime soon. Always fun at 440 Castro! Great deals on drinks! Also, chill place, has good music, and awesome bartenders. Hell, I remember when this legendary bear spot was 'Daddy's'. That was back in the '90's when I was in the twilight of my cruising marketability. I don't think I was on a daddy hunt, in particular, but in hindsight, I would've been open to having a drink with someone who had a deep baritone, equally deep pockets, and gray in his temples. The reality was that I was a cheap date, and this was the watering hole to be cheap. Flash forward a few eons and here I was again still being cheap. Only I was definitely not on a daddy hunt. Who's your Daddy now? Or maybe more accurately, Grandpapa. In fact, some middle-aged twink out on the sidewalk called me Mr. Miyagi. But hey, I come here for the friendly, seasoned bartenders and the cheap drinks. I absolutely rejoice at the prospect of high-octane $5 Happy Hour Tequila Sunrises (photo: https://yelp.to/FMcCxABKvu). DRINKS - 4 stars...cheap and potent AMBIANCE - 4 stars...convivial though I like the inside better than the outside SERVICE - 4.5 stars..,the crew here is great TOTAL - 4 stars...my heart belongs to Daddy's RELATED - Exploring the Castro? From Dan Diego, had an amazing time. Felt right at home, all bartenders were friendly and nice. I recommend this place. N

Best music in the Castro. Prompt, professional and courteous staff. May smell of piss, perfume or poppers depending on the evening.

It has a classic San Francisco feel and definitely holds its place as an iconic spot in the city. The vibe is relaxed and very neighborhood-oriented. It feels like a place with a lot of regulars and a strong sense of community, which gives it character and makes it feel authentic rather than polished or trendy. Drinks are straightforward and exactly what you'd expect, nothing fancy, but dependable. One thing to note is that they only accept cash, so be sure to come prepared. Service was fine overall. Friendly enough, but not especially warm or memorable. Everything functioned smoothly, just without much of a standout moment. Twin Peaks Tavern is worth stopping into, especially if you're exploring the area or appreciate places with history and personality. It's not somewhere I'd go out of my way for, but it's a comfortable stop and a good representation of an old-school San Francisco bar.

Recently tried to go to Elements…read moreonly to discover it was closed or at least closed to additional patrons 45 minutes before closing so made our way to a couple other bars instead, including Blind Pig. It takes a lot for me to consider a return visit to a cocktail bar. Most of the time, I just begrudgingly go along with my friends to a mediocre bar, but Blind Pig is a place I would enthusiastically return to again and again. I first got the namesake cocktail: Blind Pig. It was incredibly well-balanced, and the flame presentation upon arrival was an epic mini show. Later during last call, I decided to risk it all and roll the dice to order from the secret menu. I rolled a 5, which got me a wine & Japanese beer concoction with Sichuan peppercorn. Totally feel like this cocktail was made for me, as I rep the 川渝 region. The drink was strong, but that made it all the better. Can't wait to come again and explore more of the menu behind the password-protected iykyk entrance.

I'm personally over (and too old) dealing with sloppy drunks spilling drinks on you, getting pushed around in a crowd or end up in a middle of a brawl Blind Pig is that perfect spot, well at least on a weeknight: chill, low-key, and moody. And, most importantly comfy seating AND solid AZN inspired craft cocktails ($18-$19). Cocktails with black sesame, taro, pandan, mapo tofu, tea, and hot pot flavors? YAS! D R I N K S * Hot & Sour: Tanqueray Gin w/ Iichiko shochu, aloe, rose, hot pot paste, basil, citrus, peychaud's ($18 x2) The sichuan hot pot inspired cocktail was silky smooth from the milk-washed gin, nicely balanced - sweet (but not too sweet) and sour with a subtle málà numbing spice. Stiff yet easy to drink. The manager/bartender, Leo was awesome with great hospitality. Background lounge-y music is not too loud so you can yap and catch-up with friends. Overall, Blind Pig is a great place to unwind after work or start the night off. If it's too tamed for you, you can always go next door to XEX to make bad decisions - no judgement cuz we've all been there! ;) O T H E R I N F O * Walk-in only.
