I bike by these guys all the time for running errands, the chick that greats folk at the door did me a huge solid, and saw my phone fall out around the crosswalk. she completely saved it from getting ran over, I'd totally recommend stopping for a drink here all the people that do work there seem quite trust worthy. Our waitress was friendly, and that's about where it stops. The drink tasted like metal due to the pineapple juice sitting in a can. We ordered deep fried pickles as an appetizer and 2 orders of 2 piece fish and chips. Our main came before our appetizers which seemed odd. The fries are the same as what you can just go buy at Sobeys. The fish was soggy, and not worth finishing. We also ordered graveyard that came in a tiny disposable plastic coleslaw container that you would get from a food truck. I've had my eye on trying out Beaverbank Station for a little while now; it's got decent reviews, and it's one of the few restaurants in Sackville that isn't a chain/pizza joint/Chinese takeout. One evening when I didn't feel like cooking, I remembered this longtime denizen of my "Restaurants to try list" and I went here with the in-laws. Located way up on, you guessed it, Beaverbank Road, BBS is located in a building that the Internet tells me was formerly a hotel for train passengers, and in more modern times, other restaurants that never quite took. The bustling ground floor was pretty jammed, so we made our way upstairs to a small room with three small hightops, and an almost awkward level of quiet other than our own talk and the quiet murmurs of the nearby couple that were in there with us.  The menu is sizeable, but not quite on the scale of many of their local competitors (which is a good thing), with 12-15 options each for apps, mains, sandwiches, and their brunch menu. Their beer menu is disappointly narrow, with only the macro breweries' versions of craft beers at best, although it was a curiosity that they had Newfoundland's own Black Horse on tap. I opted for a Hops & Bolts, hoping for their cool branded glasses, but got just a regular old glass to sip on. Uninterested in the vaguely Asian menu offerings thrown in to up the exoticism of the menu, and not wanting to order any Sunday fish, I opted for the Station Burger, which comes topped with Upper Canadian staple, peameal bacon.  Service was a tad slow with the crowd downstairs and what was presumably an out of sight, out of mind thing, and the whole process of getting drinks, and ordering and receiving our food took a noticeably long time. It was a good thing that we're talkers, as the small, relatively unadorned room with no general liveliness around us could have been awkward and dragged things out further. While waiting, I also noticed that their placemats also advertised a fairly unethical ad for a discount if you bring in a social media review you did for BBS. I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that you don't get 15% off for giving them a one star review. While my cynicism is not for sale, I'd keep it in mind for other reviews here and elsewhere. When our food did arrive, the burger was open-faced, which I now understand and appreciate as an adult, for it keeps the veggies from getting soggy while sitting in the pass, and allows access for adding condiments, before smooshing the two halves together. The patty had a good beef flavour to it, was standard moisture level for a Canadian burger, and a bit lacking in any char or crust. The peameal bacon added a unique flavour beyond the standard belly bacon, which was nice, and the veggies were fresh and crisp. All in all, a decent burger. The fries came in a cute, but now bordering on cliche, mini-fry basket. The thick-ish fries were purported to be beer battered, but far from the over-the-top, carb-on-carb, airy batter that I was expecting, these just seemed to have your run of the mill, crunchy dusting. Dashed expectations aside, they were A-OK fries.  Here in Sackville, there's not a lot of non-pizza, non-Canadianized Chinese food restaurants that aren't chains. What ones there are often have long histories and a loyal following, with the likes of Kaiser's, Hellas, and Tom's pushing a combined age that is closer to 150 years than not. Though they aren't exactly challenging diners' taste buds, more recent entrants to the market like Chef's Menu and Beaverbank Station seem to be making respectable names for themselves as solid neighbourhood restos, and for not being chains, I give them kudos. That said, the slow service at BBS and shady review bribing is knocking an otherwise decent meal down from what would have been a higher rating. read more

We had a family dinner here last night to celebrate a birthday. There were 7 in the party and each had a different menu item. Food was great and lots of it. I would have liked to have lobster, but both of the lobster dishes had mayo in them. In my opinion, mayo does not belong with lobster. Considering COVID-19, the place was busy. Not pre cooked frozen stuff. Yes I can tell. The lobster salad sandwich.... Where do I begin? I was fully expecting chunks of real lobster... No chance. Shredded what looked like coleslaw filling. Flavor was... Ok.. Id I had to venture a guess I'd say it was frozen or canned lobster... Needed some lemon or tarragon or even dill to kick it up.. I ate half and taking the other half home. This is actually an old railway station. The hardwood floors and the art work have so much character. We have been here multiple times but not since the menu revamp. We first ordered the meatball sliders and they were so delicious! We ordered it with station sauce and everything was good, crunchy and spicy! I then ordered the fish cakes with a side salad and I wasn't disappointed! The lemon chow on top definitely added a sweet and sour taste. My boyfriend got the peanut butter burger and he was finished in 10 seconds - it was that good! Our server Lauren was lovely and efficient on getting us new drinks and checking on if our food was okay. She admitted that she was brand new but we couldn't tell - what an awesome addition to the team! The cozy atmosphere is so relaxing. On the way out you can sign the outside of the restaurant!! This is what we needed! Living in beaverbank we have went through several restaurants in this location, this one is the best. They redid the whole interior and exterior and it now looks like a pub. I've heard a lot of this place from where I work, how good the food is, friendly the staff are, and how much it's improved in the last year. Before tonight I've never been in, but I'm glad to have finally had the experience of the "Friendliest Pub in the World", and boy is it friendly. The owner comes into my workplace at least once almost every day and seems like a great, super chill guy and it shows inside the Beaverbank Station. The waitresses are kind and the service is great. As the previous review mentioned, this old house has been the location of several pubs - all of which were short-lived and not particularly worthwhile. What a (very much welcomed) turnaround! Pros: - The exterior and interior have undergone a much-needed modernization. While still small, the dining area is pleasant, and the bathrooms are tidy and more easily accessible. - More parking spots available than before. - The menu has undergone an expansion - it's still typical pub fare, but you actually have choices. - Pleasant, efficient service. - Delicious food - I had the Beaver Bank Burger, which was rather large and scrumptious, while my family went for the daily special (stew) and fish-n-chips - neither of which I am fond of - but they raved about the quality. - Decent prices. Cons: - Given its location, it can be difficult to get into and out of during high-traffic periods. Definitely worth a try if you've been holding off! read more

Nice little spot in the middle of nowhere. I loved their live music on the weekends, that was a very nice touch & the reason for 4 stars. The food I only had one meal, not much to compare to, but it wasn't my favourite pulled pork sandwich. Fries was delicious though, reminded me of Irish homemade fries. So far I find most pubs in Halifax area lack a proper beer selection, they focus on local beer a lot. They had some great NS beer on tap though. I'd go back with company again, instead of driving farther into Halifax proper. read more

Food here is really good and consistent. I always like the Red Thai Curry mild is Spicey so take note. Air conditioned but still hot. Music is usually good but can get loud in a small place. My husband loves their station burger and beef dip. Service at time can be slow but always friendly. Would I recommend most definitely. read more

This has now become my favourite local spot to have a great meal and a beverage with my friends and family. Since new ownership took over a couple years ago I have to say; they have really upped their game at The Beaver Bank Station. The menu is amazing, and I absolutely love that I can get an amazing curry dish In sackville now! If your a sushi fan I highly recommend "The Poke Bowl" This dish is like a deconstructed sushi roll and has become one of my favourite dishes at the station. The light sesame sauce they use in this dish is so good that I may have to bribe the chef for the recipe. THE TUNA IS BEYOND FRESH!! I'm serious ... if you are a sushi lover; TRY IT. You won't be disappointed. The staff here is phenomenal too!! So friendly and they make you feel right at home. They are prompt and take good care of you! I highly recommend The Beaver Bank Station to anyone who's looking for a clean awesome atmosphere, trivia nights, amazing food, delicious beverages, lots of laughs and great service this is the place to be ... especially in the summer! Super nondescript place in Sackville. Had a menu loaded with great options, our table had a couple burgers, a fish and chips, and a thai rice bowl. Everyone loved their food, the menu says their fries are the best in the world, as far as I'm concerned that's true. Burgers were also standout. Downstairs has a cool small-town pub feel, unfortunately we got seated upstairs alone so atmosphere was a bit lacking. Server was great and really attentive, but a little chatty/annoying. Overall it might not look like much, but eat here! The great food alone is worth a visit. read more

Went to the Station a couple of months ago and got hooked on their Seafood Chowder..always hot and delicious so we keep going back. Friendly pub atmosphere with great food AND reasonable prices. I went here one fine summer evening, Although it's really out of the way of my normal life.. I would recommend this spot if you ever find yourself in Beaverbank. The patio! The patio is where it's at. It's pretty huge and they have live music, which I thought was really great. I mean, that's all it takes to make me happy. I went on a Thursday night, so I'm here to tell you, wing night is alive and well here. The building itself is a converted old railway station, so the seating inside is sectioned off into little rooms... kind of neat, a drinking/eating room all to yourself. The staff were really friendly except one girl. I won't complain, she might have been having a bad day. I won't hold it against her, I've been there, we've all been there.. but seriously, I didn't do anything to you. Unfortunately Saturday night was my first time there and not impressed. We were a party of 9, told the waitress that we had to be out by 6:30 as we had some else to go. Everyone ordered and when the food was delivered I was left sitting and waiting with no food, Waitress actually looked and said oh yes the beef dip and went away. 10 minutes later she looked and said oh yes. The 3rd time, after everyone had finished their food I asked should I just order a salad. She did take responsibility, claimed it was only her 3rd shift and said she forgot to put my order in. I did get my order, when we had to leave, ate it as I was starving and after one of my friends told her it wasn't acceptable and I wasn't pay. In the end I was so rushed and disappointed I didn't even enjoy my meal. Will not be going back. read more

Had a great food experience at the pub and as I was leaving I wanted to suggest to the bartender that has been there for awhile that the Ceasar salad homemade pastry bowl was sadly missed since the new owners took over and he stated that.....you ate here right?? How was your food?? As he smacked his hands together like I was an idiot and said that I should have told the waitress.....he was the only person that I recognized since the new owners took over.....very unimpressed with him!! Our friends had ordered a plate of nachos and a smoked meat sandwich to split. The nachos came out without the guacamole they had ordered and the smoked meat sandwich had come out without mustard. We were served half of our wings without any napkins. We all requested for the things we were missing and waited a bit and then gave up. By the time nachos & first wings were done the guacamole, mustard and napkins finally arrived with the second basket of wings - probably 30 - 45 minutes after the request (they were ordered at the same time). We paid for our order and left. While the food is really good the service was quite slow. We chalked it up them being busy because of wing night. On Saturday we decided to give them another try and ordered take-out. Our sandwiches were great, but once again we ordered nachos. Once we opened our take-out at homo it was really disappointing to see there was no sour cream or salsa provided. Small things, yes... but these are basic things that should be fixed. read more

Had the best fish n chips at beaverbank station. The fish peices were both large and thick. Batter was light and golden crispy. The homemade tartar sauce was so good. Cole slaw was lightly sauced and the flat fries were hot and crispy. If you love fish n chips you seriously gotta go here. Service was friendly. Very clean and food nicely presented. Loved it.
