Becky is a super sweet lady! Great service!

We had the steak special and bruschetta. We were visiting from Florida and I must say that the food was superb. Becky was our server and she was the sweetest lady, took the time to share some town history with us. She is a gem and the food was delicious. If we ever make it back, we will be making a pit stop to this Tavern.

Please dont judge my selection lol. I tried the liver and onions here and it was amazing. I was feeling a little sluggish lately and my Newfoundland grandmother's voice was stuck in my head " have a feed of liver and it will perk you right up". I decided to order the liver and onions and loved every mouthful, this may not be for everyone. The gravy was delicious and the liver just melted I buour mouth. A few more onions wouldnt hurt but every mouthful was enjoyable. My grandmother thanks you all :)

Smokey bacon and goat cheese eggs Benny with some spiced hash browns and my go to brunch drink: Spicy Caesar. The new restaurant is 10/10, my new favourite place to dine. I started coming here almost every week before lockdown, and I'm looking forward to when I can come back and dine in :)

Came here for brunch - when I pulled up I think there was literally one or two other cars - that's never a good sign. Walked in, and yup, one table had customers. Ugh, I started to feel even worse. Noticed a ribeye brunch special on my way in for $12. On the brunch menu it was listed as $14 (5 oz) - sweet. We were quickly greeted by a cheery server who I feel like was a bit delighted to have some patrons. Brother ordered the flapjacks and I got the ribeye special. As gloomy as things started out when the food came out - it was actually surprisingly good. Nothing tasted like it was sitting underneath a red lamp or anything. I'm still thinking about the steak now - don't get me wrong, it's not like it was the greatest thing ever. But for $12 you get two eggs, steak, toast and a good portion of seasoned hash browns. I've gone to other places to pay more and get less (quantity and quality). So good job Lion's Head! Keep it up!

Veggie teriyaki stir fry on white rice with a good 'ol Alexander Kieth's!

First time here (on a holiday) so it was quiet and could actually hear myself talking to the people I was with - they mentioned how it is normally very noisy and crowded because it's so popular! For pub food, I was really impressed by the veggie options. I'm not a major salad fan when I can have something different, and the teriyaki stir fry definitely hit the spot (although I took some bites of the Greek salad and that was amazing too). Overall great space!

Lions Head Tavern has great wings. It is your typical tavern, although I know it has Karaoke night. It is quite entertaining. I have witness some rising starts. It is a great place to go and have a few drinks with friends. It is pretty large inside, I have also been there for birthday parties.

I'd really give this place a 2.5. My first ever visit was last night because my partner and I had planned on trying Mother's Pizza, but they were full and we didn't feel like waiting around. I know people that go to the Lion's Head regularly and envisioned it pretty much exactly what it turned out to be. A semi-large basic bar, broken into three sections ('bar' side on the right when you come in with dart boards, couple of TVs, maybe a dozen tables), then the dining area to your left, divided in half by a partial wall. Although there are several windows, it's overall low lighting but not warm lighting. Maybe 30 standard wooden tables & booths, various country flags hanging from the ceiling, typical wall decor, a kareoke stage in the far corner (which was full of boxes). My potato skins were fine (not overcooked as I have experienced lately), and definitely filling, served with sour cream as per normal. I don't see an actual menu online anywhere to double check the price. My partner had the fish & chips and said they were fine as well. Frozen fries, two filets, nothing memorable in a good or bad way. Service was quite friendly and our server made sure to get us another round of beers before the first was empty. I'd go back here if someone asked me to, but never choose it on my own. Mainly it's because they don't have much for vegetarian options (which I am), and there's nothing in the atmosphere to draw me (which sometimes restaurants will do, regardless of their menus). Overall I give it a so-so.

I can't believe The Narrows Public House isn't here in Yelp, and I may regret adding it. This place…read moreis a special dining experience. Even though we knew about where it was, we walked right past the beautiful two-story historic house initially. We knew by taking a look at the website they do not accept reservations, which was fine with us. We were, however, going on a Friday night. On walking into the main entry, that space was packed wall-to-wall. Within a few short minutes, one of the staff greeted us. They don't exactly have a formal wait list here, from what I could tell. The staff member offered us the drinks menu and asked if we'd like to order something while we waited on a table. We ordered up a couple of pints, then looked around for some open space to stand. They have two standing bar rails, one in the main area near the bar itself and another one in the middle dining area. This place has about the most creative layout of booths and tables I've ever seen. They do have an outdoor patio out back, but we didn't take a look at that. They have quite a few very comfy two-person booths around the interior. It appeared the way the wait list worked was that they either have a phenomenal memory, or they actually use the bar tab you open to work like a wait list. It seems to really be more about how many you have in your party, and the exact size of any tables/booths that open up. We might have waited about 30 minutes or so for our table for two up in the front of the main dining room. Every single person on the wait staff here is amazing. Let me just get that out of the way. The beer list is great, loaded up with so many good local and Nova Scotia craft beer options. The food menu is what really makes this place special, though. We were on vacation, so we may have a tendency for our eyes to be bigger than our stomachs can handle. There was just so many amazing looking dishes. We started out with a pickle jar, fried taters, and the tomatoes appetizers. I have to say, and my wife agrees, the tomatoes dish was the best of everything we had. Its made up of sliced cherry tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, shallots, capers, and garlic chips. All that is sitting on top of creme fraiche. By the time you're finishing the dish, you start thinking about a straw to finish up that creme fraiche. Good grief, that was so good. Don't pass on the fried taters, though. Those seemed to be mashed potatoes formed into rectangular big fries, cooked almost like panko and served with horseradish sour cream. After all that, we could only muster splitting the deli style chop salad with cold water shrimp on it. Our great waitress talked us into an order of the brown bread, a very soft kind of Irish soda bread I believe. That bread just melts in your mouth. If you decide to venture out to The Narrows, you're in for a total experience. You'll feel like you stepped back in time to a real British pub... the house must be from somewhere around the mid 1800s. Every room is warm and cozy, with beautiful woodwork and curious antiques in all sorts of nooks and crannies. You may have quite a long wait depending on the size of your party and how busy the place is, but trust me... its worth every minute.

(Not the Cheers on Grafton St., the Cheers on TV according to your 6 y/o mind, which is really just the the theme song, fuzzy visuals, and conflating real life people with Cliff and/or Rhea Pearlman.) In short, it's where you go when you come home nostalgic and want to see all your old friends, enthusiastically buy each other drinks like it's a genuine gift, dance to one of those weird new electric blue jukeboxes, shout and pontificate around a pool table, and generally have a back slappin, squeezey hugging, chortling little time. The decor is like any affordable house, only the door has a key code and a woman sits at a table with a guest book when you come in. This does not make you feel cool, but it does make you feel like life is funny. The bartender is so used to over-friendly drunk patrons that nothing can melt him. I imagine that deep in his core is something more kind than anything I have ever known, but it is too precious to be shared. The last time I came here, someone apologized for asking me to dance when I turned him down. Apologized. For my rejecting him. A dark little mineshaft to the salt of the earth this place is, lemme tell ya.
