Visiting Puerto Rico from NY, before coming Jenell and I knew this was gonna be our first stop. The first impression was underwhelming because the scenery was not ideal. The restaurant is outdoors where customers have to stand on a long hot line, with pigeons flying everywhere and not a ceiling or floor fan in sight. Looking at the menu we were inclined to stay in the hot line and order because the prices were so low. We ordered pork ribs, half a chicken, pernil, maduros, white rice and beans. When our food finally came out it was not only delicious in flavor but satisfying portion sizes. My favorite was the pork ribs and Jenell favored the chicken. For all of this we paid less than $25. We found this place on Yelp because it was near the airport and it had received so much praise. We decided to try it out. There was a very very long line thus, we waiting about 20 minutes to finally get up to the counter. The lady didn't seem happy to be there and had an attitude but we went onto order. We ordered a TON of food and 2 beers and to my surprise it was only $17! (Check out the picture) Although , when you order they take orders by weight which is useful information to know when you get up to the counter because they like to work fast and keep the line moving! I cannot be more critical of their slow service. The lines are deceiving since patrons aren't waiting because the food is so good, it's because the service runs at glacial pace. Be prepared for 40mins till they even take your order for some very mediocre bbq one can get Stateside. I fed my entire family of 6 (includes my 2 sons - 19 & 20 yrs old) for $65! And if I had known the portions were so big, It probably would have cost about $40. We have been looking forward to come here since last year when we visited PR, but we couldn't make it at that time... So we give 2 more extra hours to try this place this year! The lady at the cashier was super nice, even though I speak really bad Spanish. We got pernil, the slow roasted pork, pollo the chicken, and the ribs to go. All were delicious and huge in size, the price is about 7 dollars plus rice, unbeatable. The only thing I would pick is if they can have more vegetable or fruit options, that would be great since after you eat all the meat, you feel kind of greasy... This place is the jam. Open 24 hrs a day, right off the 26, close to the airport, they take credit card, and most importatly fantastic bbq. This place is popular, so expect to wait in line for a little bit, but it's sooooo worth it. The ribs (costillas), roasted pork shoulder (pernil) and the roasted chicken (pollo) are all awesome. The sides look good too, but I don't even mess with those, cause it would take up space in my stomach that should be reserved for pork and chicken. Anyway, this place is open air with some seats, and from the two times I've been there, not a lot of english is spoken... so here's what you need to do (and for those native spanish speakers out there, feel free to correct me): Chicken (pollo): 1/4 = "Cuarto de pollo" 1/2 = "medio pollo" whole = "pollo entero" Roasted pork shoulder (pernil) and ribs (costillas) are ordered by the pound (libra). Don't let your first impressions keep you away. I was in PR for business, and we went to lunch at Bebos, and then I came back later in the week. Cops eat here. Bebos BBQ is a 24/7 barbeque joint. The kitchen is indoors, but all seating is outside under a huge roof. Yes, it is near the airport. Yes, it is near the car rental places. Yes it is worth it. The bathrooms are huge and brand new. Touchless everything! These were the nicest restrooms in San Juan. When you walk up, you'll see a large glass case full of delicious pork and chicken, yucca and plantains. There was a long line at lunch, and a much shorter line at 1am. Take a look at the case, and then get in line. Order a rack of ribs. Watch as the person who takes your order grabs a rack of ribs and disappears with it into the kitchen. Listen for the satisfying thwacks of a cleaver breaking your rack into individual ribs, before returning with a styrofoam box filed high with delicious, fatty, greasy, succulent ribs. Order a whole chicken. Watch as your new friend takes your whole roasted chicken into the kitchen and cleaves it into pieces to fight over. If you know where to find the chicken oysters, you've won. I think you might be able to get a half chicken. Order a soda or bottle of water, and hand over a paltry sum of cash. There is no posted menu or prices. Don't worry. Ribs, a chicken and cokes will run just shy of $25. I didn't try the blood sausage, or fried intestines, but they looked good, as good as they could. The ribs are stupid tender. I tried to pick one up, and the meat just fell off the bone onto my plate. I've eaten BBQ all over the US, but these are by far the best ribs I've had. They aren't really spicy, and aren't saucy, but they are simply unbeatable. I recommend going here when you first fly in to San Juan, as soon as you get your rental car, because this will set up the rest of your trip. Great food, but only if you get it to go. The set-up is horrible. The line goes through the eating area and the way it's barred off, it's hard to get out. It was over ran with pigeons; the need some king of netting/screens/ or simply a cat like other places. Oh yeah, you'll have to fight the flies over your Pernil as well. There seemed to be a lot of people begging as well, but that was only the one time (of the two) we went. The second was at night and we got it to go. Parking is at a minimum, so you'll probably have to street park in the neighborhood and walk over. ------FOOD: ---- There's no menu; you just point to what you want. So if you don't know what's what, good luck! Food is by pound but I have no way how much what is by pound; it wasn't listed anywhere. The rice is really good; pass on the ribs. Really confusing as a tourist that doesn't speak Spanish -first to find, our gps took us through the back roads and we were about to give up and jump back on the highway when there it was! Right next to the next highway exit that we could've just gotten off. Ordering is confusing because there's two lines.. they don't make a differ but depending on the workers, I assume one would be quicker than the other. Everything is by pound, and most of the workers speak English. The ribs were yum, the pork was yum and the rice was really tasty. We also got the chicken which was tasty but next time, all real meat! And it all comes out to about $15-$20 total, for two of us (and we got a lot). No frills, just meat and sides. To tourists, don't be scared. With that out of the way, should you decide you want to sample what real deal PR food is about, get your behind to this place ASAP! But I understand places like this are not for everyone. This is a dope little barbeque stand with outside seating and not a ton of parking. It's a little hard to find because it doesn't have a sign, but look for a crowded little corner on the street. However, it's really inexpensive and their barbeque is super good. If you're a foreigner and feeling adventurous, order the special. It's nothing too crazy, but definitely a nice change from regular. Our friend is from Puerto Rico and told us we were required to eat at Bebo's while we were in Puerto Rico on vacation. He was right. It's great food for a cheap price. In San Juan you'll find that the food quality can vary, but is usually fairly expensive for Puerto Rico standards. Head to Bebo's for legitimate PR cuisine and save money at the same time. When a restaurant is filled with locals, odds are it's legit. Everything is incredible here. I had the rotisserie chicken, which was only like $4 by the way, it is was juicy with flavorful seasonings. We were told by friends to try the Yucca with onions. We had no idea what Yucca was, but when in Rome, so we tried it. We still don't know what Yucca is, but it's delicious! I could eat a couple platefuls of that stuff. I can't place the flavor, but it's addictive. Nearly everything for sale was top quality. Only the rice was a little dry so I wouldn't get that again, but everything else was tasty. As soon as we got our rental car, we drove to Bebo's and found home. It was everything I had hoped for, local, open 24 hours, huge, and most of all, delicious. We wanted everything but since we'd just flown in and wasn't sure how the rest of our day would look, we didn't want to be left with too much food. So we restrained ourselves and ordered modestly with a pound of ribs, half a pound of roast pork, and some plantains. Really rather shameful amount of food considering our love for pork and bbq. The ribs were the best I've had in the U.S. and I've had a lot of ribs. They were so tasteful that no sauce was needed and I add hot sauce to almost everything! They were perfect on their own, soft, fall off the bone but very slightly charred on the outside, and as you bite into it you taste the delicious pork fat and let it go smoothly down your throat. So good. I could've eaten many many pounds of that. The roast pork with crackling skin was also fantastic, but I've had better elsewhere, but they paired very well with the plantains. Very friendly staff and an older lady who spoke English patiently helped us out while we decided what to get. I didn't go into the bathroom, but the boy said it was the most decked out bathroom and was very out of place, like they won the lottery and decided to pimp up the bathroom. Hilarious. I've eaten here twice. This is reasonably priced, down home style, good food. This is not a fancy place, nor is it very nice. The food however is very tasty. They don't have a lot of selections just ribs, chicken, pork, yellow plantians, rice and yucca. The Yucca with onions is very good. The ribs are also very good. Drinks they have tap water, canned and bottled drinks, low priced beer, I even think they have rum drinks. You order by the pound or half pound. If you need hot sauce grab a bottle at the counter before you sit down. Most of the staff does not speak English at all so learn some basic words or just point and say uno. They may take credit cards but I doubt it so bring cash. Pernil (roasted pork) is one of my favorite Puerto Rican dishes, the Pernil I had here was decent but nothing like you can get on the pork road in Guavate. Use your GPS cause getting here can be very confusing, getting back on the highway is even more so because of a road that suddenly turns back to a one way. They also have signs for flan and dessert for like $1 something each, that's cheap! read more

Open 24 hours Near the airport BEST meat I have likely ever had. Downfalls, they don't have a lot of sides. I would love Bebos chicken with some rice and beans. They may serve it, but they have no menu and I don't see it on display! It is HARD to get here unless you know where it is and how to get there. We go home to mainland states and DREAM of Bebo's chicken. It is funny, sometimes my aunt send me text messages out of the blue asking if we should fly to San Juan JUST for some Bebos chicken. Now we only had chicken and pulled pork before yesterday, but we had ribs yesterday and they were GREAT! Their amarillos are just okay. The help did not even to talk to us when we could get someone's attention no one spoke english....that wasn't really an issue as we made it past that obsacle. My man loves his BBQ, so Bebo's was a planned destination for our trip. Here are some tips: 1) If you are like me and don't speak a lick of Spanish, this will probably be very stressful for you too. It's amazing I was able to make a purchase between my pitiful Spanish and the employee's frustration with exercising her English. Quick lesson: "pollo" = chicken, "arrozo" = rice, "batata" = sweet potato. In my opinion, that's all you need to know. Boyfriend and I shared a half-chicken (not enough for two people...) and each had a sweet potato. OMFG that sweet potato. I would have ordered 7 of them and taken 5 home in my suitcase had I known what I was in for. It's like dessert and a meal rolled into one crispy, crunchy shell. Absolutely amazing. 2) The chicken was good, but nothing astonishing. Not a great meat-to-bone ratio, but the BBQ seasoning was pretty solid. 3) If you want a table, you'd better hope you have more than one person in your party. The standard seems to be: one person waits in line and places the order while the other reserves the table. The line was probably about 30 minutes long around 10pm on a Saturday.
