We ate at both Bebo's and Los Piños -- our two attempts at typical PR food. Both errr fine, but Bebo's was our favorite of the two. It has a small parking lot in the back, which was a huge plus. Service was nice and our waitress was truly bilingual-- able to help us understand nuances of between the Spanish we use in California and Spanish in PR. The mofongo was really good -- better than any time we had it in the past or during the rest of our trip. The ropa vieja was good, but standard. My son had the churrasco (skirt steak) and it was excellent. We ordered sides of amarillos (sweet plantains) and they were the best ones we had the trip -- soft, juicy, with caramelized exterior. We wanted tres leches for dessert, but it sold was sold out. If you only had one "typical" PR dinner, I would suggest Bebo's.
Everyone kept telling us we couldn't leave Puerto Rico without trying this café -- and they were absolutely right. They had a little bit of everything on the menu, and everything we ordered was delicious. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. Since we weren't familiar with some of the dishes, they took the time to explain the menu and gave us great recommendations -- and they did not disappoint! It gave me a IHOP/Denny's vibe! I ordered the pork chops and they were so flavorful and perfectly cooked. Honestly, I didn't even take any pictures... that's how good the food was. I was so hungry and so ready to eat that I completely forgot to snap a photo!
We come to Bebo's every time we visit Puerto Rico and it's always great, but not tonight. We had several Appetizers, Salchichas al Vino and Calamares Fritos. The Salchichas al Vino were delicious, but the Calamares were extremely chewy, so much that we had to return them. The waiter did his best to rectify the situation by getting us fresh ones, but although there was an improvement, they were still chewy. I wasn't that worried about the Calamares, because I had Mofongo Relleno de Camarones en Salsa Criolla coming, but sadly it was another disappointment. I didn't get that garlic punch I was expecting and even more to my surprise, it was lacking in flavor. It was Valentines Day and the place was packed, so maybe the cooks were overwhelmed, but Bebo's really missed the mark tonight.
This place was extremely busy! Everyone from everywhere seemed to be trying to eat here. Not just tbe tourists, but locals alike. All the food we ordered was excellent and we could hardly move afterwards. We got a smattering of everything. Mofongo, skirt steak, guisado (beef stew), and yucca balls for appetizer. Both the Pina colada and mojito were excellent as well. Our server was extremely nice and spoke English as well as Spanish. The whole feel of the place makes you feel like you stepped into a place that USED TO be a well kept secret.
Bebo's cafe was recommended by our uber driver. A favorite of locals. It would be considered down home authentic cuisine. Long lines confirm how good this place is. Service is good, most people are bilingual and can help you through the menu. Everyone around is friendly and talkative. Noisy and light atmosphere. The lights are all the way on in this place. It's bustling.
We are foodies, but this very local restaurant was our favorite on PR. Found this place by accident after a delightful afternoon at the beach at Karen's beach in Carolina, PR. Such amazing food. Worth the wait! And parking lot available too! Do get the 1. chicken tostones appetizer. (Tender stewed chicken!) 2. Churrasco de parilla steak (medium= delicious!!!) 3. Mofongo relleno de pernil. (Would have been amazing on its own, but overshadowed by #1,2) Will try to come again here before we leave PR.

We ended up leaving and going somewhere else to eat. It was plain gross. The drink was ok once stirred to be cold.

I actually visited Bebo's Cafe twice during my trip to San Juan - and that says a lot for me. While incredibly busy, I was seated almost immediately during both visits. My first visit was for a late lunch, and my second visit was for a pretty late dinner. The service was amazing both times, and the vibes reminded my of my hometown of Kissimmee, Florida. I ordered their pernil con mofongo both times. It was absolutely to DIE for. We also tried a handful of their empanadas, including the crab empanada which was just out of this world. I ordered a pina colada - and for the first time ever, they asked me if I'd like it with Baileys. BAILEYS?! Listen y'all, we've been doing it all wrong. While Rum is predominant on the island, this Bailey's twist has to be their best kept secret. This is how I'm having Pina Coladas from here on out. Prices are very fair. Portions are actually a bit ridiculous, but in a good way - SO MUCH FOOD. I cannot WAIT to return to Bebo's Cafe!

We drove past Bebo's in our Lyft ride and our driver said it was very good so we decided to visit the next day. It is a great option if you want local food without the tourist price tag. The inside looks like a cafeteria but it stays busy. We were seated quickly although it seemed packed. They have a good amount of menu options and cross out what isn't available. They also have drink options that our server listed to us. To start, we ordered the lobster empanadas and sangria. The empanadas were delicious! Very tasty and fresh. The sangria however, was not great. It just tasted like juices that don't really work together. I couldn't taste the wine. We ordered the roasted pork and skirt steak. The steak was really tasty, and juicy. But the roasted pork was very dried and hard. It had some good bits in it but there were quite a few pieces that were too cooked to eat. The rice and beans were cooked very well. This is the perfect place for quick local food where you won't spend too much. But if you want a very high quality, I would choose elsewhere. read more

Line was pretty long. You had to wait in line to get seated at the table. It was fully packed. But when we sat down, service was pretty good ordered pretty fast. The food was very authentic and fresh and hot. The waitress spoke a little bit of English so she did explain what everything was. This is a very chill restaurant there were people coming in and out left and right . They have separate gender bathrooms . read more
The staff were nice, there were many locals there and the café had a cozy feel. You could tell it was a favorite of the locals. I particularly did not enjoy it. To be food puerto Rican cuisine as a whole leans a little more sweet so maybe that's why I didn't enjoy it but it is a very popular place and is a favorite amongst locals. read more
I was in town visiting with family. We were trying to find a place with good mofongo and this place came up. It was busy but a few tables were open so we snagged one. Service was ok our waitress seemed a lil impatient and aggravated. We didn't see her after ordering. And had to flag someone else down about the check when it came time to pay. It was also very warm inside we were told the a/c went out. I ended up ordering the mofongo with shrimp, the shrimp was tasty I loved the garlicky sauce it was served in. But the mofongo wasn't something I would want again from there. My mom had steak which I liked more than my meal. It was cooked perfectly and seasoned well. If you want authentic Puerto Rican food done right, this is the place. It is lively, welcoming, and filled with the kind of energy that tells you the food is going to be real. The menu is packed with traditional favorites, and everything tastes homemade. Service is friendly and efficient, even when the place is busy, which it often is. That alone tells you something. Locals eat here, not just tourists. Bebo's Cafe gives exactly what you hope for when you think of Puerto Rican food, authentic flavors, big portions, and a genuine Puerto Rican vibe. My First Stop...arrived to Puerto Rico!!! This was my first stop after checking into my hotel. Rec from local uber... The restaurant was packed so I assumed this was authentic Puerto Rican dishes. I can tell this is a go to for locals as well. Pros: the cost of dishes were inexpensive, menu easy to read, food was cooked to order, the empanadas were great, skirt steak was cooked to our liking Cons: they do not check in to see if you need anything...you have to get their attention, food was bland and plain, alcoholic drinks were not good as well read more
I visited Bebo's my first night in San Juan. It was recommended to me by my Uber driver. My friend and I had cheesy bites for an appetizer, and I thought they were pretty good. For my meal, I had pork with beans and a side of rice. I enjoyed my friends Alfredo more than I enjoyed my meal, it had potential, but lacked flavor in my opinion. While the meat was bland, the rice was an absolutely delicious! If you're looking for a place that's centrally located, with decent service, this is a good fit! It gets to be a little busy, but the environment was upbeat with a fairly calm atmosphere. read more

Bebo's was our first stop in San Juan! We were sat down quickly but service was a little slow. They were super busy so it wasn't a huge bother. The interior was cozy and diner like. The fried appetizers were ok. Not much flavor or pull in the mozzarella sticks but honestly why am I ordering mozzarella sticks in Puerto Rico, that's totally on me. Guava and cheese empanadas were delicious. Unfortunately, the ceviche was also a big miss. Would not recommend. Overall, ok! Would try again for breakfast. read more

Bebo's Cafe is great. You know what makes it so great? There's dedicated parking! Multiple lots too. Being a tourist here, it was such a relief to find a venue with dedicated parking. Food wise, everything was good! The chicken-stuffed avocado was good, the shrimp salad as well. I really liked the chicken soup. Service was good. Our server knew English and was very friendly. Overall dining experience was great. BATHROOM REVIEW: Located near the back, the men's bathroom was decent. The urinal is along this narrow portion of the bathroom, and there was one stall. This place is SO addictive! The BEST and most authentic Puerto Rican experience. First: Mariana was a gem! She worked hard to accommodate us and took care of our table with care. Beverage: Cafe con Leche: note that you can modify the drink to add soy milk. I added soy and it didn't take away from flavor. This drink was so creamy and delicious-or as I've learned-delicioso. They also added a crispy homemade cookie which was great after breakfast. Food: My boyfriend ordered the La Española (the Spanish) and it was the most seasoned omelette you'll ever have in your life. The portions were huge and my boyfriend had quite a few leftover. He raved about how delicious this dish was and with a little bite, I agree. My dish was the Mangú Bebo's and honey, this dish led me to a flavor trip that I didn't want to come back from. The Dominican styled mashed plantain was perfectly seasoned and buttery. The fried eggs, salami, fried cheese, and onions were everything that I needed to top of the mashed plantains and I was rolling in my taste buds lol it was SO GOOD! While this place is large, it's cozy and the ambiance makes you feel like you're at home. Beautiful bathrooms, clean facility, and just a warmth that is supported by amazing customer service. Very large portions for less, you won't break the bank at all. Great for groups Great for 2 people And just great overall! Daily specials as well as their regular full menu, casual atmosphere, great prices, service with a smile and did I mention delicioso también?? We're here visiting various family and friends, and twice, this is the place they've chosen to bring us. The wait line can be long, with good reason. Mofongo con pernil, patitas con garbanzos, cabrito, costillas, arroz, habichuelas, tostones, maduros y más.... Your mouth will thank you! read more
Best food i had in the entire area. mofongo was a bit hard to chew but everything else makes up for it. absolute stunning flavors and super large portions i had to take food home because it was a lot. service is polite and kind to explain things. it's both english and spanish so that helps for people who are t bilingual. the ambiance is a very very large room plenty of family there everyone is hungry and loud too and lots of people in and out 9/10 eats totally go here if you're in the area and want authentic puerto rican food! read more

We first visited Bebo's Café about 5 years ago with family, and we were so happy to be able to come back again, this time with family, too. I'm glad to say the food is still just as good as we remembered! The portions are generous, and everything we ordered tasted fresh and flavorful. Service was also consistently good, which made the experience even better. My father-in-law mentioned this location is usually packed, but we were pleasantly surprised at how quickly we were seated despite the crowd. It felt great to revisit a spot with so many good memories and find that it hasn't lost its touch. read more

Fan Favorite-- I visit every time when I'm in PR Delicious Puerto Rican dishes made by island chefs. Fabulous and tasty drinks that will keep you hydrated and happy. Food that's mouthwatering, well prepared and seasoned to perfection. We order a delicious meal with shrimps that would have you feeling satisfied and ready to dance. There was also a pork dish that would transport you straight to the island, if you aren't already there. It's a vibrant and busy restaurant, parking was tricky so bring your patience and taxi driver skills. The staff were friendly and quick to deliver your food. It was a pleasure to visit, with a great atmosphere, you will love. Should you visit Bebo's? Hell yeah you do, should you find yourself in San Juan!! read more
I returned last week and it is still amazing. The place is very busy but worth it. I ordered a mofongo con pernil, rice & beans and empanadas. Everything was delicious and plentiful. The food is authentic, the drinks are good and most importantly it is reasonably priced. Stop in and show love because it is worth it. read more
Tasty food at a good price! Bebo's Cafe is huge with lots of seating, service was good and relatively quick. We got some apps to share and I got a stuffed avocado for my entree. Portions are also huge, we had some leftovers to take home. read more
Food was authentic! I appreciated our waiter so much as my husband spilled his drink on the table and the waiter sprung into action and wiped up quickly. The pernil was so tasty... crunchy on the top and juicy and soft on the outside. That's the way I love my pernil and they hit it on the nail. I ordered the parcha (passion fruit) and equally delicious. Before leave I got a vanilla flan to go so I can enjoy on my patio because who comes to PR and doesn't have flan lol. I haven't had any my whole trip so I couldn't wait.... LET ME TELL YOU best tasting flan I've ever had. You can definitely tell the locals love this place as I observed a lot of families with small kids dining. Some tables had as much as 15 at a table. If you visit PR with kids or in a group this place handles it with ease. 10 out of 10! read more
