I really appreciate having a shop like Beckley around. I've used them with multiple cars (Subarus and a Toyota) I've owned. They've always been cheaper or the same price as any other shop I take the cars to. Anytime something hasn't worked like it should they've been willing to make it right and fix it correctly without charge. They've never tried to sell me anything I didn't actually need and have actually told me when they weren't sure if doing a repair would fix the problem I was having. In those rare cases I'll take my car to a dealership which usually ends up being a lot more expensive. Overall I have nothing bad to say about the shop and would recommend it to anyone with an import car. read more

The staff was very professional, and I was informed of all pricing and services the whole way through. My wife and I have had several Volkswagens, and our families have also had a variety of European cars. Between us, we've had our share of general maintenance, repairs, and warranty recalls that we've had fixed at the dealerships, and every time it has sucked. Maybe Lithia or European Motor Cars can get something right and do their job occasionally, but they're always a hassle to deal with and really, just awful. Beckley has been fantastic. Maybe they can't do the free warranty work that the dealers can, but if the car is out of warranty, or it's work that the dealer would charge you anything for, it would be best to take it to Beckley where they will do it faster, better, and cheaper - plus actually be friendly. Their professionalism and friendliness means a lot and for any European car, I would highly recommend them. read more

Don't count on this shop to do a proper repair and most importantly their damaging of other items in the car to get more business. Beckley's is the go-to place for auto servicing for hard to service or exotic cars. I called to get an oil change on my German car and was told it would be about $100. I was then surprised to be handed a bill for nearly $200. Not surprisingly the service included about 6 other points that were inspected which I felt was helpful as a non-gear head. However it seems a little expensive for a replacement set of wiper blades to cost $58. However it follows the old saying that if you can afford a $100,000 Ferrari, you can afford the $200 oil change. I'm surprised I had not yet put up a review for Beckley. I've been taking my cars there for about 5 years now. I got fed up with trying to schedule appointments with one of the European luxury dealership service departments, and found Beckley to be so much easier to work with... and they are cheaper as well. Only downside is they cannot perform some jobs such as warranty work, and as I recently learned in a painful way when my Mercedes ignition had a problem, I had to take that to the dealership given some sort of computer coding and "proprietary" stuff that the dealership could only do... but that experience only proved to me again that working with Beckley is a no-brainer. One example of why I take my cars there without hesitation: At least 2-3 times I've taken a vehicle in and said "you know, I think we might be close on needing to do ABC or XYZ", and they say "ok, no problem, we will take a look at that and let you know"... they call me later and say "we looked and you don't need to do that yet, ABC or XYZ doesn't appear to be necessary right now." How many auto service or auto repair places will be that honest with you? In my experience, which includes mostly dealerships and the occasional independent shop, very few. read more

I replaced the Haldex pump on my daughters Audi A3 after the AWD system stopped working. This did not fix the car so I decided to take it to Beckley's after a few people I know recommended them. I also asked them to check for a coolant leak because you could smell it in the car. They called back 2 hours later and said that the car's AWD system works as it should and charged me $75.00. When I picked it up they stated that they put it on the lift and all four wheels were turning and they drove it to confirm it worked. They also stated that there were two AWD related codes that they cleared and never came back. At that time they gave me a quote for $1200.00 to replace a leaky water pump. I also asked for a quote to change the transmission fluid on a S5 which was quoted at $860.00. I took the vehicle home and put the vehicle in a pile of snow to find out I was stuck with the front wheels only turning. I decided to hook up my VCDS and found two codes one from 10-2018 (haldex pump failure) and another from 1-11-2020. I cleared the DTC's, relearned the new pump and it worked like new again. That's weird the codes were suppose to be cleared. I called them back and they told me that they put it on the lift and all four tires were turning so that indicated that it worked. No test drive or anything. I could have done that service myself. I also had Audi quote me on a water pump replacement for $745.00 and $650.00 for the transmission fluid change. The whole reason I took it there was to save money from a dealership gouging me. I was lied to when they stated they cleared the codes and test drove it. They basically charged me to put it on a lift watch the tires spin. This is ridiculous and I demanded my money back. I have yet get a call back. I recommend seeing what a dealer will charge for any services before you take this to them. read more

We were spending the night at a nearby hotel, arriving there at 8pm after a 13 hour drive with 5 kids. Headlights dimming and battery light came on, luckily on the last 10 miles. I woke up early and took my Honda Pilot to Beckley's and they replaced my Alternator in less than 2 hours and we were back on the road. I cringe taking my car to Beckley anymore because I think their focus is in maximizing profits at the expense of all else, including fixing your car. The service managers are obviously paid on commission - the last one didn't even bother to go over the work I'd actually had done, but instead skipped to the part where he told me about all the fluid flushes, service inspections, etc. that "needed" to be done the next time I was in. To make my service history brief, I've spent about $10,000 at Beckley since late 2005. The major disservice experiences have been: Being told I had about 50% brake wear left and the next week we were grinding metal on metal, paying to have my thermostat replaced to drive away and finding the car still wasn't warming up because the termostat was still stuck open (they claimed the part failed as I was leaving the parking lot), and being told that the vibration I was feeling was to needing new tires (after 15K miles). I replaced the tires and the vibration was still there. So now the favorites are that I either need new wheels, new shocks or a new drive shaft, but they can't tell me which one. In my previous life in Boise, Hurless Brothers was a great shop - they fixed and serviced what needed to be and I'm sure make great money because it's actually hard to get an appointment there. Beckley seems more interested in selling me brake fluid and coolant flushes than it does in fixing problems. When I do have an actual problem they just seem to want to throw parts at it and see what happens rather than diagnose the issue. My latest is that I called because my battery is going. They said "We'll check your charging system." I told him that the charging system is fine - if I charge the battery with a charger, two days later it will be dead. If I jump the car because the battery is dead, the alternator charges fine. The battery is 7 years old, so it's time to be replaced. He said "Okay we'll check the charging system." (BTW they did that as part of their "Winter Service Special" about 2 months ago). This is what's wrong with shops these days - they always want to upsell you. A battery replacement has become a "Charging System Diagnostic." You cannot assume that just because your customers drive European cars that you can charge them infinity dollars to fix non-existent problems. Basically when Beckley says I need to have some preventative maintenance done, I can't trust that it's really necessary, and when I have an actual repair done, I can't be sure that it fixed the problem or was done right. That's basically a failing grade for a repair shop. read more

I miss Beckley. My husband (see Tony L's review below) and I moved to Virginia and have not found anywhere yet that we feel we can really trust like we do Beckley. I was actually happy when my 2004 VW GTI was out of warranty so I could take it to Beckley for everything and not just non-warranty work. We took the car for the state inspection out here in VA and were told we needed about a thousand dollars of work done before the car would pass inspection. We didn't trust the shop out here (it was a dealership, go figure) and actually were going to be back in Iowa with the car in a couple of weeks for a weekend. Beckley confirmed we did need the work done that the dealership said, but we felt a lot better giving them the money than the dealership. We've always trusted this shop and recommend them to everyone we know that drives a European car. read more

After the favorable report I purchased the car and soon after returned the car to Beckley for a synthetic oil change. I ran across Beckley Automotive yesterday afternoon when I did a Google search for the nearest service center after my car overheated & smoke was rolling out from under the hood. They came to my rescue in more ways than 1! After quickly diagnosing the problem & determining they could get it fixed yet that day, I hesitantly asked if they had a loaner program (knowing this is pretty much a thing of the past). I explained that I had just picked my daughter up (she had an early out day from school due to conferences) & I'd taken the afternoon off to take her shopping & just spend some time together. It appeared that our "quality time" was going to be spent in the Beckley Auto waiting area instead... The owner said, "Just a minute, I think I can help..." He left & came back in & handed me his personal car keys! It was such a kind, generous thing to do! We had a wonderful afternoon & came back to a fixed car & a very reasonable bill. They also took the time to check several other things & discovered that my license plate lights were out, too. They took 2 min. to change those while we waited.
