Everything is amazing about beckmann's when it comes to food and service, they've been our go to deli for over a decade. Having recently underwent new management, the prices of my classic Reuben went up to $15 pre-tax. I full $3 increase from the price prior to the new management. The sandwiches are great, but if this is the price for your standard deli sandwich, I could only imagine how the rest of it stands up. I'm probably going to find a new deli and save my $3 read more

Tried it again - this once "bellwether" of local delis - is now a run of the mill sandwich shop - stinks as I've been going there for 40 years. Staff still nice but quality of salads are now inferior. Honestly - it looks neglected. Sad that this "gem of a deli" is not what it once was. read more

Food, Service. There's nothing that can't improve. How sad. Once a pristine gold mine of a deli. That ended quite a few years back when one of the original owners son's sold the place. All they had to do is keep the same staff who knew what you wanted and how you liked it. And not change anything. When the gold mine is cranking do nothing except keep it going. When the formula is working, keep it. But no. They had their own ideas, bad work ethic and ruined this once great place. I remember waiting 20 minutes minimum on a Sunday morning. They had 5-6 guys behind the counter and always 12-15 customers waiting. Now on a Sunday morning or any morning, you just walk in and place your order. Never more than three other customers. And now they're down to the short order cook and a young college age kid taking and making the orders. Nice kid but he doesn't know. Maybe trying his best but with this generation the best ain't much and when he cooks your egg sandwich it's hit and mostly miss. Early 2000s this place was a 5. Up until a month or so ago when they still had professional deli guys I'd give it a 2.5. The last couple weeks, I'll be generous and give the place a 1. Part of the recent downfall farther into the abyss of crappy delis, is likely the owner opening up a restaurant in town which no way I'll be trying. He's probably cutting corners there too. 10 bucks for a couple lousy egg sandwiches is one thing. 75 bucks for a couple lousy meals is another. For clarification I have not tried the restaurant and my hope is I am wrong about that. read more

Beckmann's is awesome! I've been coming here for longer than I can even remember. The cold cuts are always fresh, the egg sandwich line in the morning tells you enough about how great the breakfast is! And of course the lunch line is always out the door too! If that doesn't represent a great quality deli, I'm not sure what does. Beckmann's is my go-to place for a sandwich when I'm home for lunch, no other place I'd rather go! It's also my family's go to place for our weekly cold cuts we keep in the fridge! Best around! They also have delicious and strong hot and iced coffee. All summer long I came here every morning for my morning fix and was never disappointed. They also have a wide variety of side salads, and although I'm not big on most of them, I can say I'm a huge fan of the tortellini salad, its delicious! The service is awesome and the entire staff is so friendly and they try to get to know everyone that comes in! Just your perfect definition of friendly neighborhood deli! I was here just last weekend grabbing a sandwich for lunch and it was the best I've had in awhile, I couldn't get enough! I was basically born into Beckmann's. Like a trait passed down, Beckmann's is in my blood. My Dad was a Lynbrook Police Officer a long time ago, and this was always his place to take his chow break. He tells me stories of the many nights, after a rough scene, he'd go into Beckmann's. It may have been a quick coffee, but it was his go-to spot. After my Dad retired and moved to Elmont, every Sunday he made his trip to Lynbrook, for his dark rolls, cold cuts and salads. He refused to go anywhere else. It was weird because an hour would pass, and Dad wasn't back. He had, like a bond, relationship with the people behind the counter, and of course the food. Every event or BBQ, I get Beckamann duty. The potato salad is the best I have ever had. The staff, like their great food, has been then same since I can remember. Pricey...but worth it. They DON'T TAKE CREDIT CARDS...they do have an ATM inside. read more

Very happy with the deli. Every sandwich is perfect. Some of the counter men are more generous than others, though. Although there usually is a line, the staff works hard to move it along. The salads are great; especially the tortellini salad. The only thing to watch out of are the bread pudding and rice pudding. Dont get me wrong, they are delicious when fresh so only order them when the tray is full. They also run out of regular baked apples very quickly and the diet ones leave a lot to be desired. The staff is very friendly and tend to remember regular patrons. New patrons are treated like family. Oh, they don't change gloves often enough. A sanitarian needs to train them. If you're going to charge almost 10$ for a cold sandwich on a roll it would be nice to get the order right. I asked for honey mustard and Mayo on my sandwich and of course I got neither of them. Old school style neighborhood deli. Their breakfast sandwiches are great as are there lunch items. They also have a nice array of salads on display in the refrigerated counter. The "southern belle" is an awesome sandwich that explodes in your mouth with flavor. It is certain to convert even the most staunch vegans out there. Smoked ham, bacon, cheddar cheese with honey mustard on a hero. The only downside is it's definitely a little pricey compared to other deli's in the area, but the quality is very good and the staff is always friendly. read more

Beckmann's Deli has been a constant throughout my entire life. I can't honestly remember a time when Beckmann's wasn't consistent.. it's the perfect local deli where they know you by name when you walk in. Whether you need a fresh loaf of italian bread, cold cuts, or over-priced supermarket items (e.g. bread crumbs), Beckmann's has got it. But, if you want a truly spectacular Beckmann's experience, be sure to get something with their home-made roast beef on it... I'm still trying to find better roast beef (haven't found it yet). My personal recommendation would be the "Roast Beef Grande", a sandwich which begins with garlic-bread italian bread, adds a layer of melted mozzarella cheese, then a ton of fantastic roast beef and finishes up with some tangy bbq sauce. This is heaven in sandwich form for sure. Just be sure if you're in a rush not to go during lunchtime, because the line will wrap around inside this tiny-gem of a Deli. read more

I got two roast beef sandwiches - both on a roll, with mayo and lettuce. The cost? Almost $15! That's more than I have spent on sandwiches in NYC! Extremely slow. I've been standing here waiting for about 10 minutes and only 1 person has left the deli. There are 2 young guys working and there are 6 people waiting. One of the guys is chatting with one of the customers rather than helping anyone. I must've gotten used to eating subpar breakfast sandwiches from the bagel shop near my job. I got a chance to go back to Beckmann's today to grab some morning grub, and it was way better than what I've become accustomed to. Real, crunchy bacon piled on thick with plenty of melted oozing cheese, and fried eggs cooked just right, still a little soft in the yolk. The perfect B.E.C sangwich. The sandwich I get elsewhere has a couple thin pieces of greasy, chewy bacon, one piece of cheese, and super well done fried eggs. No bueno. I used to frequent this place when I lived in Lynbrook, and whenever I'm in the neighborhood I will continue to support them. read more

An exceptional deli. The staff is very friendly but service is a tad slow. Also, cash only which is a pain in this day and age. But regardless of the slow service and cash only status the food is well worth the wait! For those of you who like roast beef this is the deli for you! It's always the perfect amount of rare. I was raised in Lynbrook, graduated LHS in the '70s. Growing up in the' 60s, my Dad (FDNY) would take my little brother and I to Beckmann's to pick up meats and coldcuts. My Dad was a friend of Walter Beckmann's, and Walter would put together a little plate of meats and cheese, hand it to my little brother and I, and shoo us away so that he and my Dad could converse without being bothered. I remember Walter with great fondness, and even 50 years ago, he and his deli were loved by the community. Thanks for years of free treats when we were children. I order my Chicken Cordon Bleu and get my cream soda and yodels, and I am all set to have a great meal while catching up on my relaxation for the week. My grandfather actually worked there for a time when he was growing up in the 1940s. My family has gotten potato salads, coleslaw, and cold cuts there for as long as I can remember.
