I am visiting from out of town when the chain I wear around my neck broke. It is of great sentimental value to me and I wanted to have it fixed before I returned home. Beckner's did a high quality repair for a very reasonable price, re-securing both ends of the chain to prevent my losing it in the future. Although the repair was completed quickly I couldn't retrieve it before hurricane Ian hit. The owner, Alan Buckner, left a phone message on Friday to let me know they would reopen on Monday, then called me again over the weekend to be sure that I had received his message! Synchronicity must have played a part in landing me at the Beckners' shop with my unusual repair need still in my purse. I had a wonderful amber barrette that would not stay in place. I didn't know how to fix it, and a couple of other larger stores weren't interested it trying. I just happened to notice Beckner J & R while shopping at Chesterdale's. Alan was positive about my need, and a few days later, I picked up my barrette with a new, custom-designed clasp. I was so grateful for the creativity given to my need. A few years later, I had another unusual repair need. I own an antique silver rope design wedding belt, with a hand-made screw closure. I lost the screw, and nothing I tried as a substitute worked. I stumbled upon this jewelry store one day in Naples, and was so lucky to find them! I was super impressed that this is a family-owned business with generations of jewelry artistry and goldsmithing. When I got engaged, my now-husband and I decided to go to Beckner Jewelry to custom make my husband's wedding band. Alan met with us and took his time telling us about all the options we had. We decided that we wanted to melt down my husband's mom's wedding band (she is deceased, and this is a meaningful piece of jewelry) to incorporate the gold into my husband's wedding band. Alan made suggestions and we designed a band that was perfect for my husband. A "prototype" ring was carved and we were able to take it for a "test drive" before finalizing decisions. 2 minutes ago The owner (Alan) went over and beyond what one needs to do to please a customer. I missed their phone message that my necklace was ready. Now I need to mention: it was a gift and needed it. I left a message that they didn't call (which they did and I missed it) anyhow Alan heard my message and picked up the necklace and offered to meet me so I could get the necklace and have my gift. I got my wedding ring caught on a gate and completely mangled the ring. We went to Beckner Jewelry because we knew we could trust them. The ring had to be cut off my finger, so mangled and cut. They repaired the damage, reset the large diamond and the 20 small diamonds, and re-sized the ring. When we picked it up it looked like a new ring, I could not be happier. This is a shop where you are listened to, treated with respect, and they do a perfect job (no matter how bad the damage is). read more

I needed to have a couple of links removed from my Speidel Twistoflex band on my Apple Watch. I was greeted with a big smile by Mr. Beckner who shortened the band in a few minutes and charged a very reasonable fee (especially for Naples). I genuinely enjoyed speaking with him and learned he had been doing this adjustment since his father taught him as a boy, fifty years ago. BAIT & SWITCH I called & they told me it would cost $40 to solder a ring that had come apart at a previous sizing. When I took it in the price became $135. She said that was because it had stones in it and they had to be checked. REALLY??? $90 to check the stones?? read more
