Great little bar & grille establishment in the Shawnee Mission West area. If you're looking for a local watering hole, a great burger, or maybe some bar trivia, then Beck's is the place. Easy to find off of 87th, the space is not huge, but there's plenty of seating, especially at the bar. Daily specials and a happy hour that runs until 6 PM during the week, so there is plenty from which to choose. Burger night (Mondays?) is $2 off the specialty burgers, and I recommend that Diablo Burger if you like a little heat. Sliced jalapeños & pineapple atop a 1/2 lb. burger with a sweet heat sauce, this burger will hit just right. Service is friendly and fast and the prices are right on par with the market. You can get in and out with a couple of burgers and a couple of drinks during special time for around $45 and that's a pretty good deal with a better value to boot. Very chill atmosphere- came in after hiking for the day and didn't feel awkward rolling up in our hiking clothes. Wings were perfection- crispy and tender. Pork sandwich was huge! I cut it in half and took the rest of it home. I got horseradish and mayo to top it with. Fries are amazing- thin cut but still like steak fries. This is a friendly bar with a great, inviting feel. On any given day, you will find a cadre of regulars, and as with most neighborhood bars, a few characters. Lots of TVs to watch a plethora of sporting events. The food is great, and they offer at least one food special every day. The Burgers are outstanding, as is the Cobb Salad. Everything that I have ever tried was really good to great. A notch or two above normal 'bar food'. Happy hour is from 3 to 6 weekdays and is usually pretty busy, so arrive early if you want a seat at the bar. They offer some fun twists on trivia nights, and occasionally there will be a live performer or DJ. They offer a limited menu for late night food after the full kitchen closes. We received great service from the bartender (we were at a table, and he served us), along with a big burger and fries, decent chicken fried steak. What will definitely get me to drive across town again and bring my friends was the karaoke! We had no idea, but as soon as the Royals game ended, they started up karaoke, and it did not disappoint. I first chose this place due to it always being at the top of the list when you search on Yelp! It's a good thing they do that because once you arrive to the place, it's probably not one I would have considered just by judging from the outside. Once you go inside, you are quickly greeted by someone friendly and you are able to sit wherever you want. The main event is truly their chicken fried entrees. My fiancé and I am come and he gets the chicken fried steak and I get the chicken fried chicken. They are to die for!! The portion sizes are huge!! They also come with corn or green beans, a biscuit, and mashed potatoes. The biscuit and mashed potatoes are some of the best I have ever had of either. This is a new local bar by me. I expected a local bar, but didn't know it would be a townie bar. For those who don't know a townie bar is more local than a local bar. I was blown away by how busy it was and by how many in that busy crowd were regulars. Also surprised with the variety of the crowd. Old, young, singles, couples. And when they were getting slammed, the staff stepped up. No one was waiting long for a drink when they were so busy I couldn't see through the room, and even me eating my burger in the corner wasn't forgotten. Couldn't say more about the food. A groups of guys down the bar from me asked what the hell did I order looking at the massive burger I was served. It was just one of their standard 1/2 pound burgers. Only two people working and they did a great job. We had to wait a little bit but not so long that it was a problem. Is your typical neighborhood place so the atmosphere is conducive to a "come as you are" kind of place. Honestly, the only thing we didn't care for was the food being served on a cutting board rather than a plate. But I'm kind of fussy like that so probably not an issue for most people. read more

Not much interior changes from its former owners and generic bar food choices. Stopped by to watch my bf play poker and have a drink. It was extremely warm in there with no ac running. Their fans and mini ac wasn't getting the job done. The taste of my bf pork tenderloin was good and the fried pickles were hot but too salty for me. Found this place on an outing about a month ago, decided to try it last night. Very good place for dinner and drinks. They have week long specials and Fridays are steak night, kinda like a KC strip. The wait staff were very friendly and helpful for first timers , knew the menu well and had suggestions for first timers. The cook had the steak spot on , sorry didn't get pics but will be back. A separate "late night" menu comes out at 9 with some more options as well. Ordered garlic cheese curds and some queso and they were both really good. The staff was great and very attentive. Visited Sunday April 6.2025 about 4:30PM. Service atrocious. Facility under-staffed. Bartender trying to manage bar and tables without assistance. When wait staff arrived at about 5PM, spent her time hugging patrons, and visiting not assisting with taking or delivering orders. As well owner there spent his time straitening chairs, did not assist bartender with order taking or delivery. So if you want to watch grass grow or have infinite time visit this repurposed Pizza Hut. read more
