Just thought I should update my review now that Sandtrap is under new ownership. We have been pleasantly surprised at what new management is doing. They seem to be updating the place and doing it in a way that most of the regulars (if not all) are still happy. They have added some things to the menu, but kept the standards that people loved. Everything we have tried, has been great. I personally like the new happy hour and what it includes, so that's a bonus! It's nice to still see Bev and Ashley when we go in and I'd say the new servers and bartenders we've met, have tried to continue the comfortable, neighborhood vibe by getting to know us as well. They will continue to get our business and if you haven't tried them yet, be sure to stop in! read more

After smacking a bucket of balls or playing a round at Minor Park, this should be your nineteenth hole. Chad and the guys have really cleaned it up. And the food is terrific. I look for a good tenderloin sandwich where ever I go in KC and the Sandtrap has one of the BEST, if not the BEST, hand breaded tenderloins in Kansas City. I can only think of one other that even compares......5 stars.....and their fries are excellent! You won't be disappointed. TV's from any seat and cold, cold beer. This WAS the best place ever until they switched owners. I have ordered food for the last few weeks the fries are nasty and gross (crinkle fries that you could literally get from Sonic) the old owners used to do real fresh fries. ordered the hamburgers they're gross thinner than what they normally were and the meat doesn't taste the same also way over cooked.. I would even give a 1 star read more

This is a very nice family-run neighborhood sports bar with a golf theme. My steak sandwich (Fri special) included a nicely-sized KC strip steak on a fresh bun with fries and grilled peppers and onions. The steak was juicy, delicious, and cooked as I requested. We went on a Friday night, my son and I had the steak special the 12oz KC strip (some idiots say NY strip..what does NYC know about cattle?). The steak seemed bigger than 12oz and was very good, it came with a salad and a very good twice baked potatoe! My wife had the lasagna and it was good. I had similar stories to some other reviewers as I drove by this place numerous times then decided to stop for dinner on a late Sat night. I walked though the door and half the tables were filled, the other half were dirty from prior patrons. Upon entering the is no one to greet you so the assumption is you find a spot at the bar or table by yourself. As all of those options were dirty I moved to the middle of the floor and waited to be helped. 3 employees past me without a word helping other patrons and no one was working to clean off tables. 5 minutes of standing there without a hello from the same three employees passing me by again I decided to leave. This place is 2 min from my home so unfortunate that I will not be back. read more

We finally found a chill bar and grill to go to that has great food! We've been looking for one since moving from a super small town. Everything was super clean and everyone was wearing masks and the tables were socially distanced. The french fries were seriously the best we've ever had and the cheeseburgers were great. The Sand Trap is very nice and popular sports bar and grill. All the staff work hard to please. They very busy last night, a birthday party and our group of about twenty. I ordered one of two specials, the steak. It took awhile to get the whole order. My salad came first, a simple dinner salad. I got Italian dressing, that made it sing. The steak came with twice baked potato and toast with garlic butter. I ordered the steak medium and it was just that, and nicely seasoned. It ain't gourmet but that's okay. read more

First time at this bar and grill and we had an amazing experience! We walked in with a group of 7 and our waitress Bev was very nice and accommodating. Despite the large crowd, she quickly helped us get seated putting two tables together. The service was outstanding. Always coming back to our table to assure we were good on drinks. We ordered a couple of appetizers before our meals all of which was delicious. We are so happy that we found this great local hot spot and we will definitely be back soon! read more

Lots of cheap beer, decent bar food, some outdoor tables, all nestled in Martin City to give you that off-the-beaten-path feel. Everything we received from The Sand Trap was delicious. The chicken tenders are the best I've ever tasted. They are juicy with just enough breading to have a good crunch and hold the tangy buffalo sauce. We also got a Cobb salad with blackened chicken (so good), a huge burger and a hot dog. Everything was well above and beyond our expectations except for the fries which were sub-par compared to everything else. We got our food to go, it took a while but then again, it was dinner time on a Friday night. Worth every penny. read more

I came here a couple of weeks with some friends to watch what ended up becoming the winning game for the royals world series. The crowd is definitely a bit older (40+) so I did feel a bit out of place (just turned 21), but it's good because I don't really like rowdy places. Great family owned business! We drove into town from Green Bay for the Chiefs Packers game, and we found this place close to the house we rented. Not only did we get a great meal with great service, but they gave us some soda and ice for the house so we didn't need to stop after driving 10 hours! We'll be back again on our next time into KC! This is a golf themed bar with a slew of locals who enjoy some drinks after a game of golf. We stopped in on a random day and it was a decent experience. This is a great family run bar/grille. They are happy you are visiting and treat you like you have been a regular for years. Food is excellent and the litmus test is that they cook the food as if they were going to eat it themselves. Went here with my 4 year old and mother in law and could barely get a menu. Ordered 1 beer from a different person that brought us waters because she never came back after we ordered food. When the waitress came back to see who ordered a beer, which was in a bottle, she asked my mother in law if she ordered it, and I told her I did and when she brought it to me, she slammed it down in front of me. We Ordered chips and salsa and half the chips were either stale or too soggy to eat. I Ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich, which was overcooked, and didn't even get a chance to ask for ranch dressing because The main waitress never came back to check to see if our food was ok. After we were done eating, another server did come ask about our food. But, still took 20 min to get our check and then another server noticed we were still waiting to pay and handed it off to run the card. Overall, terrible food and service. Never going back here. Ignoring someone because they have a child, mind you, who was not even being disruptive, but extremely happy to play a golfing game, is not ok. read more

We happened into the sand trap on a Friday night to find a friendly neighborhood crowd and felt as welcome as if we'd been coming here forever instead of for the first time.
