I've been with BECU for personal banking since 2008. This year I've added a business account. Most of their accounts are FREE, so I can't complain about price. My only complaint is that it is IMPOSSIBLE to pay their credit card from another bank. The money must be deposited into BECU, then paid from a BECU account. Excellent resource for auto loans. We've always been treated very well here. Staff was always friendly and helpful and checks in handled efficiently. They are honest, organized and will get a rate quote in minutes. There's a waiting area if they're busy that is comfortable. Their loan rates are Very reasonable, being much cheaper than dealers, BOA or other big name banks. We financed a new car and a vintage motorcycle through them. Great experience, especially given vintage motorcycles are hard to find for good loan rates, even when you can find them. Don't get ripped off by auto dealers who add their own % markup on loans. Come here, get a loan and then deal with the dealers afterwards when auto shopping. That's more money in your pocket and new car in the driveway. read more

Updating my review. I've been here a few times when I've had to interact with the staff due to opening or closing accounts. They've been great. Most recently, I met with a really friendly, kind gentleman who spent almost an hour with me to get a couple new accounts opened. The Visa credit card I have here has the lowest interest rate of any other credit card I have besides the ones with the zero introductory offers. It's nice to earn interest on money in the bank, too. Lines can get long here. You have the option to check-in at the kiosk and get a text to your phone when it's your turn to meet with someone. read more

I had THE BEST experience at this BECU. I've been paying my car loan with physical checks every month. Taking them into the Bellevue BECU location and putting the envelope in the mail slot every. Single. Month. Today Matt T. changed my life!! I came in asking about how I could pay my loan electronically and he was so nice. He helped me download the BECU app and showed me step by step how I could take pics of my checks and electronically deposit them and then transfer those funds to pay my loan. He even waived my $15 late fee! Matt--thank you SO much for going above and beyond to help me. My life is so much easier now! read more

Being a member of BECU, I visit many branches. I would not agree that there's a consistency in the service you receive between them, yet many of them have delightful people working. This location is always a better experience for me. When I first joined BECU, I had a defective debit card​ or activation issue, and I was so impressed by the woman who helped me. She solved my problem pleasantly and swiftly, even though it took some deciphering. Another visit found me speaking with a pleasant guy who shares a first name with me. I remembered him (easily) so when it came time to open a business account, I asked for him. Paul has a great demeanor. He smiles a lot and puts you at ease. BECU could do a lot better job with their paperwork process (visit a Wells Fargo and see digital paperwork efficiency), but Paul's knowledge and pleasant nature made the surprisingly redundant​ form-completion experience less painful. ​ All in all, I highly recommend this branch and BECU in general. They offer a much better alternative to traditional banks. read more

I've heard a lot about BECU and have been wanting to open a checking and savings account at another bank to spread the wealth and take advantage of the higher interest rates. I've heard that the interest rates are higher than at other national banks and it's a local bank. So I've come here twice to open an account for myself and to open an account for my mother. Delan was the one that helped me open my account. I would highly recommend him. He was personable, helpful, answered all my questions (and I had a ton of them). The person that helped my mother and I open an account was not so great, thus subtracting a star for that. But luckily, I already knew the whole spiel. There are 3 ATM machines inside that you can use. They don't have tellers at this branch-you would have to go to the Tukwila branch to have an in-person transaction. But the ATM machines are fairly easy to use. One thing I like is that there are tons of other credit union ATM machines that you can use, charge free. Which is awesome and helps if you're traveling out of state. It does get busy at this branch. There is a kiosk to check in to wait to speak with a bank representative. If you don't want to wait, I would highly suggest making an appointment beforehand online on their website. read more

I love BECU because they have been so good to me through the years but what is with the wait times? I stopped by to get a new debit card and it roughly took 45 minutes. I spent a good 30 minutes of it sleeping and drooling in the lobby area but still it shouldn't take that long to get a debit card. Still love this credit union though! read more

I called earlier to reactivate my account as I moved from Seattle to Northern California. I was given instruction to how to about updating my profile information, this included my address. It's a long story but I use a PO BOX to ensure I get all of mail and parcels. I was told by 2 service agents to go to a CU at Stanford (UGH) as they are a partnered institution. Well I headed down to Stanford only to find out they were unable to fulfill my change of address needs..... For the 3rd time I ended up calling BECU for assistance but there seemed to be so much confusion and lack of consistency on what each institution is able to do. Long story short BECU set an expectation with me and they fully under delivered. I fully understand if an agent does not have answers to questions being asked, it's okay for them acknowledge it and to get the actual answer from another resource. I work in customer service as an Executive Leader, and educating every team member is vital but more so, giving them the tools (knowledge) needed to be successful is so paramount to the ongoing success of any business... I've been a member of BECU for almost 20 years, and consistently go to this branch for any BECU needs. I have feel that over the last 3 years their customer service has gone down hill. Recently, I got a savings bond. First, I tried going to BECU on a Saturday. Their hours are 9-1 but at 12:30 no one was there on 5/25. So then I tried searching BECU's website to find out what to do with my savings bond. No information. I try going to BECU again on my way home from work, and wait about 5 minutes (not bad!) for someone to help me. She tells me they can't do anything there, and I must go to a neighboring CU - Prevail CU. It is too late for me to do this today, so I go the next day. Well, guess what, Prevail can't help me. Then, I call BECU to talk to them. The women on the phone finally gives me the information I need - I must go to the Everett or Tukwila locations, and she has no idea why my local BECU would tell me to go to Prevail, because they can't help me. I tried finding some sort of feedback form on BECU's website to let them know to stop telling people to do that - but the small feedback form I found limited how much I could write, and then failed to actually submit. I'm just really disappointed in BECU right now, and honestly if I wasn't already a member I don't know if I would recommend them anymore. read more

No-fee banking with great interest rates. If you are with a bank that charges you any kind of fee for using their services, switch immediately to a Credit Union! I've been with BECU since 2008 and I've never had a problem with them. I appreciate feeling like I bank with a partner, instead of a predator. I've always gotten good customer service, the tellers are usually well-informed and always do a good job of explaining what they do know. I've been offered better services when I explain what I think I want to the tellers. The Issaquah branch is a nice location with three ATMs for very short waits to access your account, and the nicely furnished space is very open. I've never had to wait long for service, although it's certainly not as busy as their 2nd Ave Seattle location. I like BECU because it isn't a bank, it is a credit union. This makes it feel like you aren't a customer to them, but like a partner. I have friends that are part of Bank of America, and others... and they are constantly being charged money for this, that, and the other. It is crazy. I never get charged for no reason. Even the first few times I overdrew from my account, they did not charge me. Instead, I had negative money in my account from the money I spent. Although, I did get charged eventually for overdrawing. But that is fair, I should not spend money I do not have. Their website is easy to navigate and they make it easy for you to access your information in a safe way. One day, I came in to get a new debit card, and it literally took less than three minutes in and out. Amazing! read more

The location is convenient and as long as you don't have to interact with any of the staff it's a nice place. I've needed to make appointments with the staff on two different occasions and have left very dissapointed both times. I wrote up the first time as a fluke but after the second bad experience I'm wondering if it's a poor work environment. If I need to interact with a representative I'm going to go to a different location in the future. read more

I'd like to relate a positive experience with BECU. I mistakenly sent a large credit card payment to my BECU checking account which didn't have the required balance to pay. The CC issuer (Bank of America) twice tried to process it and this generated two NSF charges for $25 each. I called BECU and explained the error on my part, and they were kind enough to reverse the charges outside of normal policy. I will definitely be working with them for years to come and will probably transfer all of my other accounts to BECU. read more

Needed a signature guarentee medallion stamp to transfer and cash out my deceased father's investment account. Filled out forms explicitly per investment firm's instructions. Only one form of three forms required a signature guarentee. Took to this branch and talked with manager. He reviewed the forms and said they also need to see the investment accounts latest statement, proof I was a beneficiary, and my father's death certificate. Took all that back in. Then he told me they wouldn't provide the stamp because the investment hasn't assigned me an account number yet. No apology for change in decision on what was needed. My husband and I are retired military and have been BECU members since 1995 when I worked for Boeing and he hired on with Alaska Airlines. We have enjoyed most of their convenient and friendly services including notary services up until the past two months. We are the durable power of attorney for my elderly uncle who lives in Detroit. The last two times we have needed notary services to just certify that we were indeed who we said we were to support out of state real estate closing documents, two notaries refused to notarize until they inspected our DPA and see more details on the real estate closing paperwork. They are not lawyers and they abused their position and it was not only a waste of our time but also a sad testimony to their lack of support and customer service professionalism. No supervisor can assist because their notary services are considered independent agents. I will not recommend BECU to my coworkers and friends in the future. I am embarrassed by their lack of knowledge and refusal of service in their Issaquah office. read more

This is a "tellerless" branch which sounds all "green", until you Need a teller!! Cant make a payment on my credit card unless you put it into checking and then transfer it. Cant do that because i left my check card at home on accident. Would like to talk to the branch workers about my dilemma, but its a half hour wait. At 1 oclock on a week day. Ant normal bank would have you fill out a deposit slip and walk up to a teller. Done. This system at becu is inefficient! read more

We've been struggling with BECU loan pretty much every other month. It was non problematic at all when we lived in WA and used BECU on daily basis. We had our payments automatically withdrawn each month. The problem started when we moved out of state. Everything became a hassle, even though they ensured us that it would still be very easy to handle. Every other month or so, they claim they didn't receive our payment (which we send using online bill payment with another bank) even though I have a confirmation from our current bank that everything was sent to them in time. And when they don't receive the payment on time they automatically withdraw the money from our still existing BECU account which does not have any money, because we can't physically deposit it to our account living on the East coast. They never contact us when this happens, and cause our BECU account overdraft which we have to pay for. Not mentioning there is no communication from BECU and they won't apply the payment to the correct month even if you call them. We wanted to call in and pay with CC, but they have $9.90 charge for CC payment option. Really?????!!!!! We've NEVER been late with our payments, and our current bank never failed to send them providing a proof of payment. Yet, each time, BECU claims that they never received it. And when they finally find it a month later they apply it to a different billing cycle. Another downside is that they only have 12 day window to receive the payments. So if we miss the window or send the payment too early (which is hard to estimate when to send it, because they loose them all the time), they will apply it to the previous month, and withdraw the current month payment from your account causing overdraft and never letting us know!!! Closing BECU account on distance is a HUGE issue, we've been trying for over a year, and they always come up with a reason we can't... they said it was going to be easy before we moved, so we kept it open. My advice if you are planning on moving out of state - CLOSE your accounts before you move!!! Don't listen to them! read more
