Taylor is the best hygienist I've ever had the pleasure of meeting and Dr. Bede is the best dentist in Seattle. Taylor is the best because she explains the tools she uses, what she is using them for, what it will feel like. Dr. Bede is the best - maybe I'm saying that because he said my teeth were "very pretty" - for his easygoing and humble approach. "Thank you for being here" is something I've never heard at a doctor office yet he said it multiple times. This is next level. Went for a cleaning and exam and I'm grateful I found this office! They did more than a cleaning - took full inventory of tooth, gum and overall mouth health. Easy conversationalists. Everyone on the team is a pleasure to meet. The people at Bede & Carmody are always friendly and professional. Taylor, the technician who cleans my teeth has a sweet nature and a great memory. Considering that she sees me for an hour once every 6 months, I'm amazed that she recalls details of my previous visits. She is an absolute delight. And, she does an excellent job with my teeth with no pain. Big plus! For over 35 years, I've been a patient of Dr. Bede's. He is always friendly and upbeat while being very professional. He does, however, always make time to talk about our UW Husky football team. I have been very fortunate to have been a patient of Dr. Bede's for so many years. My biggest concern is that he is going to retire one of these days. I know that he is entitled to it after so many years of service to his patients. But it will still be a dark day for me. read more

Wow! I just had some of the best customer service experiences I have had anywhere! I have been going to this practice for about 9 years now and have always found them to be nice, friendly, and efficient. But after switching insurance providers I was unaware that my new insurance was not in-network. I found out when my insurance rejected part of the claim and sent me a bill. I called the dentistry office to discuss it. Not only were they kind and helpful they help me out and made things right. They went WAY beyond my expectations! I've been with Dr. Bede for years (15+) and have always enjoyed the visit- I realize I'm saying this about a dentist but it's true. He is open and honest and will spend the time you need to discuss or question. His hygienists are very personable, friendly, and open. I've had the same hygienist for years and Erica is fantastic. I went to Dr. Bede after not having been to a dentist in SEVEN years! I was so scared of getting my teeth cleaned with that much build-up. Over three appointments, my teeth were restored to their full potential. My hygenist Diane was so gentle and very understanding to what I was going through. She made sure to keep me comfortable during my cleanings that I did not want to be there for! Dr. Bede is friendly and efficient, he makes me feel like he actually cares about how I'm doing in the short time I spend with him. The parking is validated which is great, the streets around there can be tricky to navigate though so allow extra time to find the garage. It's against my nature to give a dentist 5 stars, just for the fact that no one likes to go to the dentist. But as far as dentist office's go, Dr Bede's is top notch! read more

I've been going to Dr. Bede for a few years now and love the service, attention to detail, and overall ease him and his staff offer. I've received fillings, wisdom teeth extractions, cleanings, and bonding at his office. I've heard rumors he may be retiring this year, which makes me sad because he's an exceptional dentist who I highly recommend to everyone. Dr. Bede has been my Dentist for almost 10 years. The staff makes you feel comfortable from the moment you enter. My hygienist Erica is the best, when she is not hurting me (just kidding). I selected Dr Bede when I came back to the Seattle area because I had gone to his predecessor Dr Edison for many years. Dr Bede has a gentle manner and gives me the TLC treatment. It makes me feel comfortable to know I will receive the best work possible. His sense of humor puts me at ease. Dr Carmody interned with him so I look forward to knowing Dr Bede's great reputation will be carried forward. Dr. Bede is definitely the best dentist I've ever had. They take appointments starting at 7:00 AM, so it's conveneint for those of us who don't want to have to miss any work-time. The hygentists have all been fast and thorough, and everything is modern and up-to-date (including digital x-rays...maybe they all do this now, but I had a dentist for several years in NYC who did not do digital x-rays or really anything that kept up with technology). I've had several fillings and 2 crowns from Dr. Bede, and everything has gone very well. Also, I appreciate the fact that the office runs very punctually...they don't leave you sitting in the waiting room forever. read more

I'm still dealing with repercussions from ONE visit with Dr. Bede two years ago. Let me start by saying that he's a really nice guy; has great staff; and his office is lovely. And I was able to get in for an appointment same day. Dr. Bede was not my regular dentist. I had a dental emergency, and my dentist was out of town. The receptionist at my dentist referred me to Dr. Bede. Dr. Bede's office got me in a few hours later, cleaned my teeth (I am dentist-phobic, and hadn't had a cleaning in a few years), did X-rays, and fixed my broken tooth. I had no other problems, and no cavities per the X-ray or assessment. Up to this point, everything was great! Then he mentioned that I had an old filling that was kind of "rough", and did I want him to fix it?? Sure, I said, just get it all done now! My bad! The Novocaine was exceptionally painful--more so than I've ever felt, and I've had A LOT of dental work. I found out after the fact that he hit my trigeminal nerve, which is a major facial nerve. Damage to this nerve can cause chronic pain and permanent nerve damage. I couldn't blink my eye or smell out of one of my nostrils for 24 hours! I'd never experienced this before after receiving Novocaine. I know there is no guarantee that a practitioner won't hit a nerve when sticking a needle into your mouth, but it was a pretty extreme nerve block. I must have been the one in 100,000 that this happened to. Thoroughly numbed, Dr. Bede then began the filling. He was pressing REALLY HARD to pack the filling into the tooth. As I said, I have had lots of major dental work done--probably 25 fillings as a kid, many crowns, orthodontics, etc. I feel like I'm an expert at how hard a dentist typically needs to pack a filling in, and this seemed excessive. I motioned for him to stop and told him that I was numb, but it seemed like he was pushing too hard. He was really nice about it and said that he was almost done and that he'd lighten up. Once I got home, the pain started. At first I thought it was just the usual post-filling pain. I took Ibuprofen, didn't chew on that side, avoided hot/cold food, etc. But even the slightest touch to that tooth would cause terrible stabbing pain. I've had this before with crowns, and eventually it goes away--just nerve trauma is what I've been told. This pain didn't go away. After a week of ongoing pain, I went to my regular doctor to have it checked out. After an X-ray, he discovered that the tooth was fractured! I hadn't had any problems with this tooth, and this filling was just a cosmetic fix. In hindsight, I kick myself for letting Dr. Bede "fix" my filling because eventually this tooth will need a root canal and crown--costing me several thousand dollars. The tooth is "stable" for now--I don't have the money to have it repaired (despite dental insurance), so my regular dentist said that we can wait and just monitor the tooth. But I can't chew on that side because if I do, I get stabbing pain in the damaged tooth. I did complain to the office staff at my regular dentist--they referred me to Dr. Bede in the first place. The receptionist apologized and said they'd re-consider referring patients to him in the future. I hate to give such a poor review, and I hope my experience was an aberration in his practice. He really is a kind man, but the ongoing problems that I've had really put me off. read more

Excellent initial appointment! Friendly and efficient service.

I went to Dr. Bede for about 2 1/2 year. At first he seemed real nice and only had basic cleaning there. The last year he said I needed to fill 4 of my gums and I trusted him and agreed. During the filling he DID NOT wear gloves and mask. As Dr. Bede was working on my filling he breathed very heavy and spitted on my face as he was talking due he did not wear mask. I was told he doesn't like to put on gloves and mask (old schooler). After the work was done, I received the invoice and was charged more than what we had agreed. Later on I found that Dr. Bede did a horrible job on all 4 fillings. I had to redo all fillings paying out of my pocket. I called several times to speak with him but never return any of my calls. Dr. Bede is not a good dentist and never recommend anyone to him. Dr. Bede seemed nice but very deceitful. read more

Dr. Bede has been our family dentist for over 25 years. He and his staff are professional and the setting is very non-threatening. I highly recommend Dr. Bede and his associates. I recently had my first appointment with them and can say I've never had such a great experience at the dentist. They were right on time for my appointment which was great because I was going on my lunch break. I didn't wait more than five minutes before they came out to greet me.
