I recently ended up having to have an old filling replaced with a crown. Dr. Pedersen and her assistant, Izzy, were amazing. They were very patient and understanding with me - being a bit nervous in the chair. They explained everything they were going to do, how long it would take, and what to expect. To my surprise, they offer same-day crowns and I was in and out of their office in 2 1/2 hours. The crown fits perfectly and my bite is exactly as it was before. It was my first visit. Dr Stephanie Pedersen was friendly in the beginning. She recommended me to do sealant for 4 teeth. Then, she stepped out and the billing person explained to me that my insurance will cover the cost. He was surprised that I did not want to do it and he told me again that I did not have to pay from my pocket. Dr Stephanie came back to finish the cleaning. After that, she brought up the sealants again. This time she was pushy. I was in the Orthodontic chair. After I said no, she said it will only take 2 seconds. I just did not want to say any word anymore, she seemed upset. She quickly put her tools down and told me her assistant will explain to me what sealant is. When she said "happy holiday" to me, she was already outside of the room with her back facing me. I gave them two stars because other than her, everything was nice. The office was clean. I've been seeing Dr. Pedersen for a year now and have been thrilled with her as my new dentist. One of the things that really stood out to me was how she and her team approached patient care. Unlike other dental offices I've been to, they didn't try to guilt or shame me about my dental hygiene habits. Instead, they focused on easy ways to incorporate small changes to your day to day. It was such a relief not to be made to feel bad about not flossing every day (or feeling like you have to lie about it!) The use of new-age technology, particularly the in-mouth digital photos of my teeth, was truly impressive. They explained everything in detail and showed me the images - it's incredible seeing the backs of your teeth! The location of the office is right in the heart of SLU is another huge plus. It's convenient to access, and street parking was surprisingly easy. The office itself is modern, clean, and inviting. Dr Pedersen's golden retriever Sadie sits up front to greet everyone and really creates a comfortable environment. Do NOT go here. I was a patient here in 2021 when I lived in Seattle and moved out of state back to Texas in 2023. I made sure when I left my very last appointment that I asked and verified that all of my payments for my Invisalign have been completed and I didn't owe anything. Fast forward to April 2024 and I get a call from a debt collector saying that I owe $3,000+ to this office for services rendered. I contacted the office and it took 2 weeks to even hear back from the manager to discuss this issue. When we talked over the phone, I admit I was frustrated, but the manager laughed at my situation and wasn't any help. So I contacted their sister office and was advised that my payments are complete in full and I do not owe anything. Apparently, when they opened the new office, my records didn't transfer over so the original office in SLU is still trying to charge me for payments I have already paid. When I told the manager I never received any emails or calls, she said they sent out multiple notices. I checked my email while on the phone with her and found NOTHING. Then I asked if she could send me copies of said attempted phone calls and emails but she told me they no longer have access to that information -so basically she lied because she's trying to cover her own ass. But I've been in the medical field for over a decade and I run medical offices in Texas, so I know for a fact there has to be some record any time a contact attempt is made. The manager, Christina, at the new office was extremely nice and originially very helpful. She reached out to the Regional Manager to discuss my case and I was advised that the Regional Manager would be contacting me. Well, it's been over 2 weeks and again silence. I've emailed and called multiple times trying to reach this Regional Manager and have yet to hear anything. Meanwhile, the debt collector is still contacting me on a bi-weekly basis. I have physical proof of the payments I have made in full, as well as my insurance from that time. No one is responding to me or returning my calls because, like so many others, they are illegally charging me and just want money but won't admit they are wrong. I have advised the clinics that I am calling the Better Business Bureau, as well as Invisalign, to let them know about this situation. This is HORRIBLE patient care and I cannot fathom ever treating a patient this way. I've never written a bad review on any business before, but I can't hold my tongue anymore. I went in here to get my wisdom teeth out, my previous dentist from out of state had said I should get my four back molars removed as well due to how expensive they would cost to get all my old work redone. I agreed I'd rather just have them pulled since they were unnecessary and it would save money. We agreed to schedule the surgery and agreed on a payment plan since it was going to cost me 6k for this procedure. The day of they said the price had changed. I started to panic because I cannot afford to pay more. They said they'd see exactly what changed but I wasn't given any specifics. I got brought back to talk to my surgeon and he didn't even know I was having 7 teeth removed.... He thought it was just the 4 wisdom teeth. At this point I was panicking because I had saved up and taken the time off work and they didn't even know what they were supposed to do the day of. I also have extreme anxiety surrounding dentists. They ended up saying they would do all the teeth and that it was a mistake on their end. When I was hooked up to the heart rate monitor due to my anxiety I had elevated heart rate they just kept telling me to just calm down. I tried explaining I just have anxiety. We ended up proceeding with the surgery. I wake up mid surgery because I wasn't given enough anesthesia. It was very traumatic they held me down while the surgeon instructed the nurse to put me back under. After everything was done they didn't give me too much info on what to do post op. Just ice my face. lol etc. I'm sure these instructions were generically good but I had bone graphs put in and 7 teeth removed... they also never scheduled a follow up to check if everything healed correctly. During the healing process I had shards of bone coming out through my gums. Overall pretty traumatic and wouldn't recommend going there. They also had me spin a wheel for discounts if I left a good review. At the time I didn't realize this isn't something they should be doing. Especially since I hadn't received any care yet so how would I know to give an accurate review. This is my actual review after getting care and having to make $600 payments monthly. Dr. Andy is aWwwWWWesOMMMMMMe! I won't go anywhere else now. I tried moving to a dentist closer to home... no ... just .... no. I got spoiled with Dr. Andy and realized that I won't find anyone even close to his quality. He's QUICK, gentle, very good at what he does and he's super nice and friendly!!! His bedside manner is excellent! Rare to find a doctor that's also a people-person! I've gone here several times for cleanings, having cavities filled and also for perio treatment. Quickest cavity fillings I've had, and with no pain! Absolutely PAINLESS perio-treatment, which is a MAJOR WIN! Perio treatment is usually the wooooooorst, hate it, absolutely hate it, but here it's no biggie! In and out, bam, done and back to living my best life! The front office staff is always supppper nice and easy to talk to. Like, real people! That smile at you and really talk to you! Not at all like most medical offices where you get a auto-pilot robot helping you just to get you out of their face. Back office staff is always friendly and quick at getting you ready to see the doc! It's rare to enjoy dentist trips, but I truly do like going here! This has been my dental office for a few years now and the team has always been great. I had to get a crown after a root canal retreatment (performed elsewhere by Dr. Carina Lea) and although the entire process was pretty terrible, South Lake Union Dental did their best to make the crown process as effortless as they could. Dr. B prepped my tooth for a crown but then their machine that made the crown wasn't working/having technical difficulties, so they had to figure out how to make me a temp crown and have me come back when the machine worked again. Unfortunately, they said they couldn't make me a temporary crown because they didn't take a mold of my tooth prior, so I sat in the office for like 2 hours while we tried to figure out what to do. Anyways... after what seemed like forever, the dental team jerry rigged a temp for me lol and sent me home to come back the next day. The entire situation was pretty awful-- multiple numbing, having to skip work to come back multiple days, etc etc. but ended up fine. Actually, my original tooth cracked during the whole ordeal but whatevs... I still commend the dentists for their professionalism and expertise. read more

Amazing new dentist office in South Lake Union, off of Mercer around the corner from Bartell Drugs. The office is modern, clean and has the latest technology. The x-rays are digital allowing the doctor to show you clearer images of what your teeth and roots look like. The oral camera helps show area of concern and I imagine within time shows progress of dental care. The entire staff was exceptionally nice, professional and made me feel like a friend vs a client. I appreciate that the office is very upfront about any costs you might have to pay and provides you a clear knowledge of what your dental benefits are. Dr. Ornelas and the whole team are so nice and really care about my oral health! The receptionist, Stephanie, greeted me as I entered the door and I felt very welcome. The dental assistant, Madison, was so friendly while take my x-rays. I hate taking x-rays but she made me felt comfortable and we had great conversations. Dr. O was extremely informative when it came to explaining my x-rays. Usually I look at those things and I have no idea what i'm looking at. WOW. Where do I even begin!?!? I HATE going to the dentist. Mainly because I never know how much anything is going to be and they never tell me at my appointment. I hate getting those stupid medical bills in the mail! Once I came to this lovely office, it was such a joyful experience! They were EXTREMELY transparent and told me ALL of my costs after insurance pays so I knew before ANY treatment was started. This place is awful. They wrongly diagnosed me with periodontal gum disease so they could make money off of me as did their sister company in Portland. Well guess what I went to get a second opinion from a new place and turns out I don't have gum disease and my gums are actually very healthy! This place was trying to charge me 1k for a deep cleaning and wouldn't give me a regular cleaning like I needed. The second you walk in this place you feel like you're being scammed, they manipulate their prices to see what they think you will pay and everyone who works here is extremely passive aggressive and rude. Best experience at the dentist ever. I called yesterday to see if they had an appointment and thanks to the bad weather, they had an opening in the morning today. The office is modern and super clean. They had free coffee and tea which I didn't get a chance to enjoy because Dr. Bienstock was ready for me right away :). The X-Ray machines are brand new and super quick and they also took photos of my teeth to paint a better visual. I was given a thorough explanation of what's going on with my teeth and I felt very informed while making decisions. I had to get back to the office by 10 and I was done with my cleaning and out the door by 9.55. I was also able to make an appointment for 2PM the same day (thanks to more snow day cancellations) for my sealants and filling and it was done very efficiently. South Lake Union Dentist Office - My clean teeth! They're so white and pearly! - General Dentistry Near Me - Seattle, Washington

I went for an annual exam and a superficial chipping to my front tooth which previously had bonding on it for a few years. Dr. Dubey took a look at the tooth and I asked her if bonding should again be advised or to leave it alone as it was just superficial and nothing structurally wrong. She recommended the bonding and reassured me that it would hold nicely and she would do a natural job. What an experience. First, she not only put bonding on the front of the tooth but also around to the back! Right up to where the back of the tooth meets the bottom tooth when you close your mouth! This is a big no as bonding is not to be placed where stress is. Within 3 weeks the entire thing was cracking off in chunks. I called to let them know what was happening and her response was one I have NEVER encountered in my life. She proceeded to tell be that she would recommend me for a crown because she was looking at my x-rays from the visit and she doesn't believe there is enough tooth structure left for a cap or bonding. What??? I felt completely gaslit. I requested the xray copies from the office and sent them to my trusted dentist on the east coast. I also called him and showed him video and he said he was glad I sought a second opinion because there is hardly any tooth structure missing to warrant such an extreme recommendation. I flew in to him and had him fix the disaster she left me with. I am happy to say that I am coming up on a year now with full bonding intact on my real tooth that I kept. Andi Liou is a salesman not a dentist. I'm going back to my old dentist even though he is out of network. I have a hard time trusting Andi after he tried to sell me on unnecessary treatments so I won't be going back. You're a dentist, by definition that means you ALREADY MAKE TONS OF MONEY NO MATTER WHAT, STOP BEING GREEDY! I got a regular teeth cleaning which was fine but he tried to sell me on some laser treatment and a mouth guard because of teeth grinding in my sleep. Previous dentists never said I had this issue and when I took the x-rays to a dentist in the family, they also said there was no such issue. read more

This was the first time in my life that I would describe a dental appointment as more than just "fine". Not only was the entire visit extremely streamlined and efficient (which I really appreciated because I was going back to work after my appointment), but Andi and the rest of the team made me feel like I was they really personally cared about my dental health and well-being. Dr. Brian Bienstock is thorough, modern, and funny. Most importantly, as the patient, I felt completely heard by him for what I wanted for my teeth. Dr. Bienstock's expertise prevented me from oral surgery. I literally had an upcoming surgery scheduled with an oral surgeon and thought I try one more dentist prior to the surgery. I found Dr. Bienstock through the excellent reviews on Yelp, so I called, and the nice receptionist scheduled me for the next day. Dr. Bienstock listened to my concerns, took an X-Ray, and fixed the teeth with ease. His work prevented me from having oral surgery. Literally the most effective, thorough and solutions-oriented experience I have ever had with a dentist. The results of Dr. Bienstock's work came out perfect, I am so pleased. I had my first visit to South Lake Union dental office last week. I must say I am so impressed with the professionalism of Dr. Bienstock and his staff today which included Nicole and Madison. Esthetically the office is beautiful. Everything is brand new, modern, and clean. Dr. Bienstock is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. He knows how to talk to his patients to make them feel comfortable. He wants to know about your history and comfort level so that he can make your experience as enjoyable as possible. I have had several bad experiences in the dental chair, so this was a huge relief and WONDERFUL experience for me to have a doctor and staff that I felt actually cared. Their technology, equipment, and instruments are all top-notch and brand new as well which sped up my time spent in the chair. I had multiple services done today which included full x-rays and exam, impressions for a night guard, fillings for two small cavities (which I was numbed for) and a fluoride treatment. This will be my primary dentist moving forward due to the amazing staff, and how warm and friendly Dr. Bienstock and his staff are. I have been at this dentist office for several years with good experiences, however the last 6 months I have had 3 appointments that were all so unprofessional, I will be finding a new provider. 6 months ago I had a cleaning, but when I arrived the office was so short-staffed it was chaos and took very long. I assumed this was due to Covid challenges or other things and a one-off experience, which would be fine. I went back for a cleaning in 6 months and had a very unprofessional experience. There was no hygienist available and multiple people kept trying to figure out who was helping me once i was in the room; the doctor was then so rushed she didn't even do a full cleaning and essentially just told me "your teeth look very clean!"; the doctor noted a need for a filling, and at this time a 3rd person was in the room who i watched note down the wrong tooth for the filling - and during my exam people were constantly trying to figure out staffing to the extent that I am not even sure anyone was paying attention when doing my "cleaning". Again I tried to give benefit of the doubt given staffing challenges, and went back for my filling. I had a horrible experience - the dentist basically told me that there was nobody able to help her do a filling, so she would have to use a tool to keep my mouth open and dry. It was too big for me (I'm a small person!) and she tried to make it work and it just didn't and was super painful. So, she then got frustrated with me and said "I don't have anyone to help me so I don't know what to do". I felt really uncomfortable; I don't know why they didn't just cancel my appointment. But, realizing she couldn't do the filling alone she went to find someone. She came back with a woman ready to help and she started the filling process; during the process, I learned that the assistant was actually not a hygienist, but one of the administrators who is not trained and had not used the suction or other tools before. During the filling, the dentist was trying to teach her how to use them, but kept getting distracted on being able to do the filling because she had to say like "you're blocking my visibility, try to suction over here" etc. To be midway through a process and learn this was very distressing. The filling was done, and I felt that the tooth was too high and needed to be adjusted (a normal process after a filling to sand it down). She told me it probably just feels weird because its numb and sent me home. In reality, it felt like she was just trying to rush me out of the office. The numbness wore off and in fact I was correct, the tooth is too high. I now had to go back to get it adjusted and take off work again. This is a lengthy review, but I hope to spare others from this kind of inattentive care, given it has now become a pattern at this dentist and I hope anyone - especially anyone with dental anxiety - doesn't experience what I have experienced. read more
