Any resident with a library card from a count library can access the holdings of any county library. I tend to be a bit claustrophobic; therefore, the cramped quarters of this library did not help me enjoy a relaxing browse of it's holdings. I must confess that it's audio book collection looked a little more robust than I would expect for a small library like this one, but it's holdings were hard to systematically browse with a difficult to understand layout and order. The staff looked busy and probably did not have time to notice that I looked lost. My bias toward open spaces probably plays a little into a low rating. If cramped quarters does not bother you, you might want to consider giving this library three stars instead of two.

I stopped in late in their day, so I wasn't surprised to be the only one there, but the team gave me space, answered very basic questions I had, and - gasp - LET ME TOUCH THE BOOKS. This is the largest selection (aside from corporate-owned Bauman's) of rare books I've seen that include the dust jacket- a collectors actual dream. It's the biggest breath of fresh air to find a rare book store owned by a woman, and to be treated like a human being. I normally get side-eyed from rare bookstore owners and some of the conversations I've had sound like: "May I see the Portrait of a Lady in the case?" "All of these books are at least $100.00 and up." ".....I know." "Do you have any Wilde?" "The book about the woman hiking alone? That's too new to be in our shop, Barnes & Noble would have it." "I'm talking about the 1800s poet." "Oh." I take it personally because while I look like a millennial who doesn't know what she's talking about, I treasure my rare books like they're my children. Sunday stayed AN EXTRA HOUR at her store while I looked and answered all of my questions that I had, never making me feel rushed or unwelcome. After selecting a first edition Fitzgerald, she wrapped it in bubble wrap for my travels back home and gave me an updated book with all of the rare book sellers in the country.

My family and I were in the area so we stopped by this library. The children's section was lovely with many toys and books. My kids really enjoyed playing with the toys and reading the books. I wanted to pick up a white elephant gift and get some birthday cards and was able to fulfill both objectives here. I also had a cooked and something to drink. It wasn't too crowded the day I was there but it's not a huge place. Prices are on the higher side, but what you'd expect at a quaint local shop. I wish I had a place like this in my neighborhood (in Danbury, not Manhattan) so I could stop by regularly.

I was looking for a book, THERE'S ALWAYS THIS YEAR, and since I was in the area, was hoping I could stop by and pick up a copy. I called ahead and the staff could not have been more helpful. Although the system said they had a copy, they couldn't find it. Well, these folks searched up and down till they did and then called me back. That's A+ customer service. When I stopped by the shop was adorable. I hadn't known they do coffee as well and so had to enjoy a latte while I was there. I didn't get a chance to go upstairs, but I heard it's quite nice and the space for author events. Would highly recommend getting your books here. This place is what all bookshops should aspire to be.

In addition to being really flexible with scheduling, (which was super convenient) he really helped me get exactly what I wanted out of the essays & portfolio. His fixes were spot on and really strengthened my work. They weren't just cosmetic either, we did a lot of restructuring to support the root themes of the stories and make them better. I truly cannot imagine a better experience or a more encouraging teacher. A lot of other writing teachers I've had in the past get an idea in their head of how to fix a piece and try to steamroll you into executing it, but Alex was exactly the opposite! My vision was heard and supported at every step. Alex really took the time to understand me and my pieces, and they were better for it. I credit the confidence with which I submitted my applications to Alex and look forward to working with him in the future once I finish my manuscript draft!

The store can order you books they might not carry - I got Goggins book "Can't Hurt Me" within 2 days. When I went to pick up my book order, I stopped in the back room for used books and picked up a few sports biographies - Lou Gherig and Bill Russell. It's a great spot in Pound Ridge surrounded by restaurants, bakeries, and shops. Please support this local bookstore!
