I've gotta give this mid-cities summer staple the recognition and review it deserves, and I don't even like snow-cones! You can't not love Bedford Snoball, I just think that would be impossible. It's the kind of place that makes you happy, whether you're a snow-cone lover or not. Plus for a lot of us, it's definitely a nostalgic atmosphere that takes you back to high-school and first-time driving excursions. I've been here several times throughout the past (more than a ) decade with friends and family and whoever, and it's always been a fantastic, family-friendly, super casual, cash-only, affordable, and fun scene to enjoy. You can drive through or order at the window, no indoor seating, of course (that would be so weird). There are a bunch of picnic tables out front but it does tend to get crowded, especially with the 15-18 year old crowd come time for school to let out. It's just part of the ambiance. Like I mentioned previously, I personally don't care for snow-cones (I don't like ice-cream or milkshakes either, no frozen desserts for me!), but I've never seen a disappointed face here. There are SO MANY flavors, from traditional to "what, really?" People seem to find their flavor and stick with it and love it for years. And you can add ice-cream to your dish. And gummy-bears. One time I JUST ordered gummy bears! One time, I ordered plain snow with no flavor (I love just eating plain ice). Basically, Bedford Snoball will give you what you want. Mix and match, extra toppings, ice-cream, whatever. They have such a friendly staff and they seem to genuinely care about their customers' satisfaction and inevitable return! The only problem I think anyone has ever had with Bedford Snoball is that they're not open year-round and that they only accept cash. Just do your research and tell your buds to have some cash on hand before you go! As for not being open year round, that's just a hardship we all have to get through together... plus, it gives us something to look forward to. I've had maybe 2 types of snowballs in all that time...once I had the strawberry jubilee I was DONE...found my one true love, and never got anything but that. I live further away than I used to, so visiting is a little less frequent. I wish I'd been aware they were changing ownership so I could've enjoyed the good stuff one last time. My first time visiting since the ownership change...and the strawberry jubilee is clearly not a jubilee (which used to be puréed strawberries and sugar)...what I got today was strawberry flavoring. I walked up to the window and stood in line for about 15 minutes even though we were 2nd in line...seems like whatever efficiency pivot they are trying to make still has some kinks to work out. I understand that things change...and sometimes what seemed like an easy proposition was real WORK disguised as fun. I'll maybe try again, but I was severely disappointed. If they aren't serving jubilees anymore...just be honest about it. Anyone that comes ordering one knows exactly what they are...and are expecting that. The updated pos, having an order runner come to your car and paying electronically isn't what's important...it's the quality of the product you're serving. I finally got the chance to visit here with my boyfriend yesterday for an afternoon dessert! We both ate one snow cone each and started driving home, but halfway home, we were contemplating to turn around to get another. They were so delicious; the ice was literally like eating flavored snow. I loved the variety of flavors available and how the employees did their best to make your experience the best. I didn't get the name of the employee that helped me in the drive thru, but she gave such excellent recommendations and also gave me an extra 50 cents when she gave me back my change (she miscounted and let us keep a larger amount because it was her mistake). Now I'm not saying that she'll give every customer an extra 50 cent discount, but she will give you the greatest recommendations. I ordered the wedding cake snow cone with gummy bears on top. She asked me if I wanted the little baby bears or the normal gummy bears, but did throw in a recommendation that the baby bears tasted a lot better. I didn't even know that gummy bears came in so many flavors, but they were so good. I think next time I'll ask her for two scoops of the crack bears. My boyfriend got a red velvet snow cone, which was also very good. I think it actually tasted better than my wedding cake. But overall, the friendly woman in the drive thru told us that the Strawberry Jubilee was, hands down, the most popular flavor that they had. My boyfriend and I are going back soon to try it! Best snowball place I've ever been to out here. I've been in Texas almost 10 years and I have never had a good snowball until now. This place reminds me of the ones they make in New Orleans. The ice is really soft and the employees aren't cheep with the juice they load it up and make sure you are happy when you leave. The older gentleman that works there is really friendly and he even hooked my gf up with a sample before she ordered he wanted to make sure she would like the flavor before she brought it. Like most places like this, it is CASH ONLY, so make sure your trip to Bedford isn't short lived, but the memorable experiences here with friends are worth the 15-20 minute drives we make up here! Their times vary seasonally and aren't in operation during the winter, so don't be afraid to call them first before you come! This place has been around nearly 40 years now and although their snowcones are amazingness and cool, that can probably be accredited to the contrast of how warming the staff is! The lady always remembers us and is more than helpful in recommending new flavors based on what what you like, while also allowing you to sample them too, so don't forget to thank them! :) If you like fruity flavors, the berry best that I'd recommend are: Berry Berry Berry (personal fave!), Tie Dye, and Blueberry Avalanche. (Ice cream is a MUST!), but gummy bears if you're a cool kid! If you like more tangy flavors: Sweet Tart, Witch's Brew, and Sour Power. And some of my friends' favorites are: Hawaiian Sunset, Fuzzy Rita, and Tiger's Blood, but be adventurous and try new flavors! Usually a medium ($1.50) or large ($2.00) is a pretty decent size, especially if you get ice cream on the bottom ($1.00 extra, but totally worth it.) Overall, definitely worth the drive if you have to make it! There's a few large picnic type tables for you if you come with a group of 8-10 but there's also some benches. They have a drive-through window, but I think most of the time, waiting in line (which sometimes requires up to a 15-20 minute wait since high school students love this place), but it's a nice place to relive your childhood in tasty frozen treats! read more

Before I get started let me say this first "CASH ONLY". Go stop by an ATM before waiting in a huge line and finding out that they won't take your card. To me, this place runs a very close race with Bahama Bucks for the best snow cone in the Dallas / Fort Worth area. Their snow cones are really that good. The shaved ice holds the very flavorful syrup just right and it has a consistency of roughly a Slurpee (will not hold up in a traditional cone shape). Now be aware of a few things before you think that this place is all sunshine and happy endings. This place is seasonal (so call ahead if you're not sure if they're open). They're usually closed in the winter, and when they are open the store hours change on a whim due to summer break, school hours, etc. The line..... my god, the line. You might as well call it traffic at times. This place is located in a residential area, on a small piece of property with almost non-existent parking available. (most people park on the street) It is hugely popular in the area (especially on evenings and weekends) and combining the cars parked on the street (both sides) with the line of cars going through the drive-thru and you get yourself a small traffic jam. Went for the first time today! We didn't realize that they didn't open until 2pm and were about 15 minutes early - WHICH WAS A GOOD THING! The line started forming around that time but man... it's worth the wait! There are so many mix ins and combos. I got the blueberry muffin with horchata and ice cream at the bottom. A hidden gem in the DFW area if you're looking for great snow cones! They're only open during the summer months, so better get your snow cones while you can! This was an institution for us - so many times during middle/high school, my friends and I would come out to Bedford's for some cool/refreshing snow cones on a hot Texas summer day. They have a crazy number of flavors, and all for an incredibly cheap price! THey have a drive through, but most times I just park in the residential area and sit at their tables and benches underneath the trees. The one flavor I always get - the Sour Drake. They have a flavor called the Drake, but you can make anything you want sour here. It's a nice tropical fruitiness, but paired with the sour notes, it's almost like a sour patch kid in snow cone form. They have your typical fruity flavors, some of the other creamier ones like wedding cake, and some crazy ones like pickle juice. With that amount of variety, I'm sure you'll find something here that you like. Bedford's is a family run business, and I hope that they continue to grace DFW with their presence!
