Yesterday afternoon I noticed a small hornet nest being built in the corner outside my front door. I have three year old twins and a five year old so needless to say this was a big concern. In fall of 2013, Steve removed an established hive from the trunk of a large oak tree. It took about three weeks to get all the bees to exit the tree trunk but with a great deal of care and patience, Steve got it done. Steve was very professional, knowledgeable and dependable. We called and were able to get a same day appointment. Worked with our schedule to get us in after our work day. Steven texted to let us know his ETA and he was right on time. He was very calm and professional. The whole process was very mellow and gentle on the bees. No chemicals at all. He pulled off a bunch of combs and could probably tell we were curious so he taught us a few things about what was going on in them. Bees are pretty incredible! The whole operation sounds very eco friendly - they release the bees back into a hive so they can keep working and they melt down any of the wax to make candles. I called Bee Friendly Honey because we had a few bees fly in through our fireplace into our living room. After sealing our fireplace, we could hear another bee trying to come in. We were worried that we had a hive in the chimney. As I was on the phone with the company message machine, I received a text from Steve asking what was going on. Steve informed me that if there are no bees flying around the chimney, the bees I saw could just be scout bees looking for a home for the hive. Sure enough that's all it was. I discovered that a bee swarm had selected the underside of my shed for a new home. The extraction required an opening to be cut in the floor of the shed. The day before a barbecue, we noticed that yellow jackets were swarming in a few spots on and around our patio. We were panicking. My husband hung an additional trap in a different location, but the situation wasn't getting any better. It was a Saturday and I was worried that no one would be around to help us with the problem. Someone in the neighborhood mentioned Steve, the bee guy. So I texted him. In the meantime, my husband bought 2 more traps. Later, we got a lengthy text from the Bee guy telling us that there wasn't much we could do beyond putting traps out, but he did give us detailed instructions on where to place the traps and how to avoid unwanted ants. He also told us that the problem would get worse before it got better (because of all the attractant), and that's what happened. When I drove into my court the other day I thought I was in a Steven King novel. My car was surrounded by a thick storm of bees. We called Steve because of his 5-star rating on yelp, and were very pleased with his service and his fascinating explanation of what makes bees tick. Although it turned out the bees had left some time in the previous 24 hours (!), he thoroughly checked inside the wall where they had been, the outdoor entry hole, various crawl spaces, and the perimeter of the roof. He explained that the bees we saw and heard in the wall were probably "scouts" looking for their next hive site. Hired Steve to do a hive removal in my wall today, just recently purchased the home come to find out the Bee's have been doing there business in my wall for quite some time, Steve said it looked like a 2 yr old hive. Steven is fantastic!! Not only did he come out on very short notice, he made time on the weekend, very accommodating and for that.. THANK YOU!! The condo complex we live in had a yellow jacket nest very close to where cars park. The development is small but there are a lot of young children present so the need to get this hive / hives removed was imperative. Steven educated me on the various types of bees, their instinctive characteristics, etc. Fascinating to say the least and a lot to learn and absorb. I cannot recommend Steven enough. He is the best and I encourage you to disregards the 1 stars since they pertain only to his responsiveness, and while he was a bit hard to reach for a while he improved since and def worth engaging. Steven handled our suspected-bees-turned-out-wasps (yellow jackets) removal with the outmost empathy and professionalism. We had numerous infestations in all sorts of cavities (airing holes primarily) around our roof. Steven meticulously walked the roof all across and treated each and every hole, some as tiny as small cracks, with a special bio-friendly solution that eliminated the wasps without collateral harm. To top that, he WASP/BEE-PROOFED OUR HOME. He returned a few months later (the removal was in the fall, he returned at the end of winter) and SEALED each cavity with either a metal mesh or special foam. Being the perfectionist he is, he worked an entire day, morning to night time, with materials he bought especially for the job, and sealed each and every crack and cavity - many dozens of them. Steven visited our place today to look into our wasp issue. He quickly diagnosed the issue as paper wasps and imparted information about them which was very informative. We had a swarm of honey bees living inside a stucco wall that we wanted removed. Steven came as promised and they were all gone in about 4 hours. He cut a small hole in the wall and used a vacuum system to collect them. He also removed all the hive and honey and cleaned up everything before he left. He also put a temporary patch on the holes so the remaining stragglers couldn't get back into the area. A day later there were still a few bees around but they eventually moved on. A few bees in the house on Monday was a swarm in the wall of our house 3 days later with buzzing vibrating walls. Steve came and very professionally removed the house siding, extracted the bees with their early honeycomb and repaired the house good as new.
