August 26th, 2025. Went to Beemans for dinner. Had the "All You Can Eat" Salad Bar with Chicken Wings. Diet Coke Yummy. Meatloaf with mashed potatoes. The food was delicious! Jasmine and Monica were a delight!

Salad bar and all you can eat fish, great dinner.

Great atmosphere, staff and food. Yes the dinner trifecta and made better by all you can eat fish. Excellent sides on their salad bar, but the only bump in the road was the soup. It was definitely an afterthought and tasted like it. Everything else was wonderful. This definitely made me want to pass through this little town again.

Absolute best ever Chicken & Waffles I have ever had. Chicken coating is crunchy and flavorful. You just have to love it.

And it was nice if you are used to eating dinner at the kitchen table. Ambiance is your aunts 1970's house. Menu choice is limited. One house salad (iceberg) option. Fried apps with zero imagination and a short entree list including a $40 filet. Portions were generous. Service was pleasant and quick. I hear prime rib night is fabulous. The Decoy IS a nice place for dinner. Just leave lofty expectations at the door. Heather & Bob were entertaining.

The place has a warm, down-to-earth vibe that makes you feel right at home, like a true local favorite should. We specifically went back for the prime rib after reading someone mention how they prepared it just the way they liked -- we both ordered it seared and it was honestly the best prime rib I've ever had. Perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and mouth watering. The prices were very reasonable, the portions were just right, and nothing felt overdone or pretentious. Also, don't skip the fried cheese curds -- they were amazing. If you're anywhere near the area, The Decoy is absolutely worth a stop (or two).

Good authentic Cajun!…read more With so much to choose from in Ithaca NY, why would visitors look into a Cajun restaurant? Because we've found that this town is a foodie paradise, we love catfish, and we love love blackened catfish. We had Maxie's blackened catfish in a flavorful spicy deep-pink Creole sauce, with maple-braised (!) collard greens, black beans and rice. They were not fooling around. They know their true Cajun seasoning. The oysters at the next table looked great, too, but we had missed the happy hour special. Of course we added an appetizer of fried green tomatoes with a bright somewhat-spicy New Orleans version of remoulade. Any they didn't shortcut the sazerac either: they rinsed the glass with Pernod, and finished it with authentic Peychaud's bitters. Wonderful.

From the building and decor, to the drinks and decor, NOLA is everywhere on the menu and in the restaurant. We started with a State Street Hurricane (dark and light rum, passionfruit, and lime) and a Spicy Margarita, which were both great. We had a half dozen of both of their oyster selections (Malpeque from PEI and Spindrift from MA), which they serve with freshly shaved horseradish (a nice touch). Then we shared a Caesar salad, their fish fry, and their special of the night - pan-seared arctic char (with a creamy tomato sauce with capers, cheesy grits, and garlicy spinach). Everything was great. As usual, our eyes were bigger than our stomachs, and we couldn't eat everything we ordered. But the food was so good we ate most of our leftovers the next day for breakfast. The service was very good, and the vibes are great - it's comfortable, casual, and fun. We had a fun meal and some great food. I'd happily return.

Okay so we went here on a Sunday which was good because there was literally no crowd. Reservations…read moreare definitely recommended on Fridays and Saturdays but Sundays not so much. The wait staff was very nice and our particular waitress was very informative. We had calamari for an appetizer and it was exceptionally tasty. For the main courses, we enjoyed a seafood risotto and a rather large chicken pot pie. (Yeah I know, getting chicken pot pie at a steakhouse is kind of unordinary but it's one of my weaknesses) The pot pie was pretty good. The crust was really good but the filling was standard with others that I've had (not those nasty ones from grocery stores either, but other restaurants). My wife had the risotto, I of course tried some the seafood flavoring throughout the rice itself was done perfectly. The seafood that was in it was also prepared exceptionally well, with one small detail that I would have done different. When you're putting shrimp on a skewer next to a steak for example, yeah I can definitely see leaving the tails on but when you incorporate shrimp into a pasta dish or a rice dish like risotto, to have to take the time as the custer to cut the tails off or reach your fingers into your food and pull them off... Personally I would like to see that down in the kitchen before the dish is served. It was still very tasty, just that one that'll detail that I personally would change if it were my decision to make. For drinks the wife had a blue Hawaiian and I had their red edition of a Long Island iced tea. My wife doesn't like the taste of alcohol in her alcohol sold a blue Hawaiian worked pretty well. Had a really good coconut flavor, and my iced tea in my opinion was a little strong. I'm not saying that's a bad thing overall however it didn't taste as good as Long Island's in other restaurants. I might be a little outside of the normal here but when I order a mixed drink, unlike 30 years ago when my goal was to get hammered, I don't necessarily like it stronger I look these days more toward the flavor of the drink. This one was good, but in my humble opinion it had a little too much alcohol in it.

Honestly it's kind of a drag; the food overall isn't great but isn't awful, but the service is slow even when it's not busy. The wait staff is nice but forgets to bring drinks or is not attentive. To go more into detail on the food, the quality varies depending on what you get and between different components of a single meal. Seems like any meat and seafood is prepared well, but vegetables less so. When I ordered the vegetable risotto, I thought it was bland, and the asparagus and tomatoes were over-cooked but the brussels sprouts weren't cooked enough. I ordered the seared scallops last time and the scallops were excellent as was the salmon I tried from one of my family member's plates, and the crab cakes are also amazing. The coleslaw side was not bad but very pedestrian, like the stuff you can get in a tub at the grocery store. I really enjoyed the whiskey bread pudding and the cheesecake, the key lime pie was just too sweet and one-note for me - all the desserts are big and very sweet, so I think it's best to share. I guess it's a good choice considering what's available at Tioga Downs, especially factoring in the more sophisticated atmosphere here compared to the restaurants on the casino side, but I myself would not choose to come here were it not for family obligations.
