I wanted to try this place! I've heard good and bad! So I dragged my son for a mother son breakfast out! I don't quite think they know what kind of restaurant this is! Is it Italian is it Chinese? The decor was very confusing! ...but we were willing to give it a try! We were seated right away and the hostess was super friendly brought us coffee and menus right away! Not much selection for breakfast ! Ok...2kinds of omelettes, pancakes or French toast! I ordered French toast! The menu said "thick sliced breaded toasted with powdered sugar! My son ordered the farm house omelette! The waitress was super friendly and service was great! While we waited there were fresh peonies on the table in an old chambord bottle! A little tacky but hey I don't judge! I started to noice ants on the table, I thought it must have come from the peonies! But there were too many!!!! Breakfast came and my French toast looked like it was made with wonderbread no powdered sugar and dry looking! My sons omelette was way over cooked! The waitress was great about bring us syrup and hot sauce! Not a great meal! I tipped her well but I felt like I had ants all over me and itchy when I left! I really want to like this place! The outside is not very appealing but my God the food and the service and the cleanliness was the best I've ever seen. It shocked the living daylights out of me. The food was very fresh not the typical Asian food stirfry junk. It was really very good. The meatloaf was very tender not greasy and very flavorful .. the mashed potatoes were real mashed potatoes. Definitely a must visit for everyone. You will be surprised because I remember when this was a gas station and a convenient store. The owners did an amazing job. Please. Once called this place "our place", never again! Had to be the worst meal I've had in a restaurant in a very long time. Wife had shrimp scampi... supposed to be on rice noodles, was on angel hair and very little of it. The garlic was black, bitter, nasty. I asked for chicken scampi, even less pasta, maybe half a cup. Chicken was cubed like chicken salad and was so dry I couldn't swallow it. Owner took $15 off a $55 check which we didn't even eat!!!! Worst part was being sick for 2 days after eating a few bites. My family and I went in earlier this morning for the first time to have breakfast. Tired of chain restaurants like Denny's and Friendly's, we searched for a small mom and pop place for breakfast and found Hamlet Delight. My wife and I ordered breakfast sandwiches with home fries and my kids had pancakes and eggs. The sandwiches were just as good as anywhere you would get and the kids pancakes were big and fluffy. We also had some of their zucchini bread.... everything was amazing especially the zucchini bread!!!! Friendly service, great food and very reasonable price! To say we were disappointed is an understatement! Went today... first time...for lunch. Was pleased how clean and fresh the place looked. Server was very pleasant, and took our order quickly. That was the end of the good experience, unfortunately. They were pretty empty at noon...a couple with a small child and another table seating a couple were at window tables, and a large party of elderly people (12?) sat along a side wall. They were obviously having difficulty keeping up due to the large party, and we sat for 25 minutes waiting for our soup, which ultimately arrived with our sandwiches. First...the soup, (if you could call it that) was titled "Hungarian tomato" , which the waitress had described as beef, tomatoes, noodles and vegetables (Like goulash, right?) What we GOT consisted of a pink, slimy concoction of ?. It was homogenous, had the consistency of porridge, all "noodles" had dissolved, and there was nothing resembling a vegetable anywhere. It had so much thyme it was inedible. My tuna melt was literally spatula - smashed down to 1/3 inch thick, the tuna was liquid and oozing out the side, and the bread was soaked with some greasy butter prep and barely grilled.. Did I say DISGUSTING? Husbands burger was generous, but neither burger nor mushrooms were seasoned at all. When the waitress noticed we weren't eating, we told her what the situation was. She sent over the manager, who asked what she could get us instead. We had an appointment and had to leave, and declined a re-order. They then brought our check...for the full amount. (I had eaten 1 bite of sandwich and 1 taste of soup bowl, husband had 2 tastes of bowl of soup) I asked if they were going to do an adjustment. Manager had a fit, said she wasn't going to give us food for free, and took off 2$ from 28.00 check! What Food for FREE???? I didn't eat AT ALL, and husband just ate burger. I have been a food service professional for 35 years, (Chef-Owner, Manager, Director,) and as a professional, would NEVER allow a patron of mine to pay for any portion of a meal which is substandard. Needless to say, I will not return, and will warn off others considering a visit there. (Additional comment...the couple across from us ordered a burger and a club sandwich. He ate most of his burger, but she took only a bite or two of the club, took it apart, took off the meat and scraped off the mayo, put it back together, tried another bite and told her husband she couldn't eat it. Waitress offered her a to go box several times but the customer refused. My husband and I tried this place for breakfast about a month ago. First I will say this place was IMMACULATELY clean!!!! Waitresses were very nice and welcoming. We both got an omelette. The egg was very soft and watery like. Maybe egg beaters? Not sure. the toast was good and bacon was good. Overall we weren't to impressed with breakfast. Not to say they aren't good with everything though. So tonight we decided to try dinner there. My husband and I had the fish fry, his with Mac & cheese, mine with French fries. They give the option either/or as well as Cole claw or potato salad. The fish is haddock. It was a nice size, really thick piece. It wasn't thickly battered, instead it was breaded like. It was actually really good. French fries were really good as well. Husband's Mac & cheese was ok. Could be cheesier. My middle daughter for a cheeseburger. She loved it! First of all I seldom do a review based on one visit, unless the place is remarkably good or remarkably bad. Fortunately this is the former. My wife and I stopped after a morning of shopping. We'd passed by a number of times, and finally decided to give it a try, and so happy we did. The restaurant is a fusion of American and Asian cuisine. That is to say you have choices from both continents. What we both had was very good to excellent. My wife a grilled cheese sandwich made with really great cheddar cheese, just slightly sharp, and very tasty. The sandwich was accompanied by an order of very good french fries, and she ordered a cup of Stuffed Pepper soup that was very good. I had a Chicken and Mushrooms Chinese dish with white rice in a sweet brown sauce. Very delicious. Finally I ordered a bowl of Hot and Sour soup. Hot and Sour is my favorite Chinese soup and I have had it many, many times from many, many places and this was perhaps the best ever. We were very happy with our meals. The Restaurant is priced about right. The service was prompt, attentive, and cheerful. The property is spotless, and while not that attractive on the outside, inside is quite nice. The menu ranges from simple to fancy. I wouldn't hesitate to take anyone here, for lunch or dinner. We plan on trying for breakfast sometime in the near future. Sunday morning for breakfast. Started out good, until the coffee showed up. Tasted mediocre. Food arrived and both omelets were wrong. Asked for no green peppers and walah!, green peppers in the omelete. Gf's omelet was supposed to be feta and spinach, brought out mushroom and Swiss! I gave two stars. One for the staff and one for the atmosphere. Both of these were lovely. The servers were extremely friendly and very attentive. The decor was nice, clean and interesting. That's (unfortunately) where the good news ends. The menu was disappointing. We wanted Chinese. We expected Chinese. It wasn't Chinese. It wasn't even Americanized Chinese. It was a diner menu, with a couple of Chinese options. It was like the chef made a list of his favorite foods and just makes those. Burgers, Mac and cheese, pancakes, and sesame chicken. And we like diner food. We go to diners for it. Not Chinese restaurants. We go to Chinese restaurants for that. We did order some of their Chinese options. My kids liked the sweet and sour chicken. I thought the garlic sauce was ok. Everything else; just no. No egg rolls (cheese burger or Vietnamese rolls), no fried rice (I'm told sometimes it's on special), no fortune cookies (ok fine, nobody eats them anyway) and no flavor. This was a delightful treat in our trek across the state. We all ended up with Asian food - they accomplished serving me udon soup loaded with veggies, while my family shared delicious beef and broccoli and some of the best hot and sour soup we've had. It's charming that you can order diner food as well and I would bet the standards are high with that fare as well. The family who owns and runs the restaurant were very friendly . I went to he let for lunch and we ordered 4 meals, the food was excellent and fresh. The menu is amazing with a great combination of Asian and American food. It's unlike anything I have seen and I really liked how that have culturally combined the menu. My total was 31$, so considering that price and portion sizes, they fully deserve 5 stars. read more
