She was on top of everything and very friendly. Or dinner started with the spinach artichoke dip. It was probably the best one I have ever had. Everything that we ordered was cooked well and tasted good. The Delmonico steak I got was cooked to perfection with excellent grill marks. The seasoning they used tasted like something other than just salt and pepper. It was really good though. We are getting desert to go so if it's bad I'll update. What a disappointment. Went there for a birthday dinner in August. Wanted an upscale dinner for dad, reviews suggested this was a good spot in Elmira. Dad got the filet mignon - overcooked, not delicious. I should have known it was not going to be great when the server didn't ask how he'd like it cooked. I got the scallops with risotto. Scallops were mediocre, slightly overdone. The risotto was very disappointing, more like rice-a-roni. There was nothing risotto-y about this dish, none of the creaminess or silkiness you are looking for in risotto. I could have made everything we ordered better myself at home. Me and my children were in town for a college event. We found this place on Google and decided to give it a go. It's right in the middle of a residential neighborhood and at first I thought we had the wrong place. The inside was quaint with a retro 70's Italian restaurant vibe. Food was spectacular. Inside is clean but very outdated, perhaps that is the intended ambience? Our waitress was extremely pleasant, nice, and checked on us often. Both my wife and I had an appetizer; chicken wings and spinach artichoke dip. Wings were just OK, only they were breaded so that threw me off a little. Extremely greasy though, dripping with oil. This place was great! I found it on Yelp, and made a trip to check it out. It was a bit odd finding its location as it was in a residential neighborhood. I wasn't sure I had the correct directions. This place was small, and intimate, with a nice little bar area. The staff was awesome and the food was good. Service was excellent. I had the Thursday Special which was a turkey, cranberry, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and green beans TG Day type meal with outstanding creme brule for dessert. After a long day of travel my husband and I found this gem of a restaurant! We both had the Delmonico steak dinner which was cooked to perfection. Mine was served with green beans and spaghetti squash and my husband had green beans and risotto. We shared a bottle of the house Pinot Grigio which was very refreshing. The service was outstanding. Superior service, OK food, outdated decor I highly recommend the bruschetta appetizer. It was topped with mazzorella cheese. My husband ordered the vegetable flatbread appetizer and said my bruschetta was better. The salad was OK. The homemade berry pie was weird; the crust didn't seem right, like as if someone mis-measured the ingredients. The berry filling was good. I ate the filling and left the crust. Not impressive for a restaurant that brags about its homemade pies. I enjoyed the live music on Friday night which was in the second of three rooms. We came here on Friday night for dinner. The service is great. Food is not great though. Bacon wrapped scallops is the only dish that is tasty. Garlic parmesan chicken wings is okay. We also ordered meatballs in marinara sauce. The meatballs are so dry and hard to eat. Salmon entree is also dry and blackened a little too much, it has the taste of charcoal. read more

Average food. Had chicken Parmesan and the breading was soggy and the chicken was rubbery in some parts like it was premade and microwaved. Homemade pasta was mushy. Sauce was ok as was the overall flavor. Wife had a filet that was cooked to temp was tender flavor again was ok. Sides were an afterthought. The slice of cake we shared for dessert was delicious. Not being from the area I had to call to see what was included with the fish fry. When I talked to Nancy the lady who answered the phone I knew this was the place to go. Not a far drive from our hotel and just a small little place in residential area. It really reminded me of a local place back at home called Mulberries that was on Diners Drive-Ins and Dives. We walked in and Nancy greeted us from beside the bar with a kind hello. From start to finish the service was awesome. We had a fantabulously server Lisa! She had a great laugh awesome personality and one sexy smile. The homemade bread and dips with their accoutrements were top notch! I started with the clam chowder which was the best clam chowder I've ever had. Sometimes I find it too thick or not enough flavor this was the best, I felt like I was in New England. My main dish was the fish fry which came out piping hot with some homemade tartar sauce, fresh coleslaw, a lemon slice and the spinach pesto risotto. Being from Western New York, in my lifetime I've had a lot of fish fries but this is right up there as number one. The batter was Crispy with a great taste. I went to 1157 last night with my girlfriend. The waitress was very pleasant, although the service was extremely slow given that they only had one cook at the time. They could have skipped that cook. I've had better Italian food at Crackerbarrel and that isn't saying much. The salad and the bread was good, the entrees were terrible. My eggplant parmesian was four silver dollar sized pieces of breaded eggplant with maybe a tablespoon of mediocre red sauce on top, I saw no evidence of any cheese. My girlfriend's pasta putanesca was a small helping of overcooked pasta with a minuscule amount of redsauce, nothing else. For roughly $20 a plate it was one of the worst meals I've had in Elmira, wildly disappointing. I was excited to go there since I used to love the Palms. We won't be going back. read more

Good food in a 1960's setting -- leatherette banquettes and all -- served by a cheerful waitress with a bouffant 'do. Decent wine list and a full bar, with locals at every seat. Stay with the Italian specialties. The homemade pasta with meat sauce, a meatball and sausage was perfect. The scallops were overdone; but they were not my first choice, I'd ordered the eggplant parm but they ran out, alas. An enjoyable dinner in a city with surprisingly few options. I love going here. It's a small unique little spot that makes homemade pasta. For those of you in the back...HOMEMADE PASTA. If that isnt enough, they have fantastic appetizers and bread service. The service is beyond anything you will find in the area...and on the weekends, you'll be serenaded by the piano singer. It's like a beautiful little step back in time. The food is nothing crazy or exotic. I dont know if it's the atmosphere or somewhat dated menu...but if you close your eyes, it tastes homemade. Like something your mom would cook....and I mean that it the most complimentary way (I'd imagine not everyone's parents are as good of a cook as my mom is). I love going here.
