I have been a customer for 5-plus years and have seen service/response wax and wane. I've had to remind Beer Drop to stay in my lane in regard to my tasting profile and have been unsatisfied with all the sour and fruited beers I've been sent. I finally was able to get them to listen and for the past 3-4 months I've received the types of beers I enjoy. My only current complaint is that I keep track of all the unique beers I try and on several occasions, Beer Drop sends me beers that I've received from them before. Usually, the repeats are from 1-2 years shipments ago. My goal is to receive beers I've never tried before. I expect Beer Drop to keep track of beers I've received and to not duplicate them a year or two later. An additional comment: For the past few months, all the beers I receive have been dirty on top. I asked about it and was told that dust from your cardboard shipping boxes accumulate during shipment. I've been cleaning my Beer Drop cans before opening, and while what I clean off does look like cardboard dust there it also a darker residue which appears to me to be dirt/dust. Please inspect your storage area to insure cleanliness. It is dissappointing to have to worry about sanitary products when I simply want to enjoy a new unique beer. Thanks. read more

The BeerDrop value prop is simple: beers that you can't easily find in your local stores because it's coming from microbreweries across the country. This is one of the only monthly "box" subscriptions I've kept over the years. Not every beer is a winner, but I have found a couple of new favourite microbreweries through the service and genuinely look forward to trying each month's drop. The weakest part of the service is that the beers they pick to deliver by default (based on your preferences) don't always resonate with me. I take the time to do "swaps" based on what looks most interesting, and it can be difficult with the UI to ensure that I'm swapping beers of similar value so I don't get extra fees. Takes a bit of time (15-30 min) but very much worth it. read more

Overall love Beer Drop. It is easy to track your shipment and I like how they give you advanced notice of when your order will be placed. This allows you to go in and make changes to the beer selections you have. I have a very narrow style of beer that i like to drink (stouts, porters, browns) and most months I am able to fill my order with those styles. I also like that if I cannot get an order to look like I want, I cancel for that month. Beer Drop has a great concept and I've genuinely enjoyed discovering new craft beers through the service. There's a solid variety and many of the beers are ones I wouldn't easily find locally, which is a big plus. The customization options and ability to manage your subscription are also really convenient. That said, there are a few areas that could be better. The cans often arrive very dirty, like they've come straight from a warehouse shelf, which isn't a deal breaker but definitely noticeable. I've also received repeat beers, and occasionally beers that don't really line up with my selected flavor profile, which takes away a bit from the curated experience. Overall, it's still a fun and worthwhile subscription for craft beer fans, especially if you like trying new things, but tightening up quality control and personalization would make it even better. read more

The beers have been good, with nothing that I have rated less than 3.5 on Untappd. I have been able to skip or postpone shipments without a problem. Early shipments were a bit heavy on breweries local to me; I contacted Customer Service and it appears that I'm now getting more geographic variety. The basic beers cost $6 each, which is approximately the same price that I would pay for singles off the shelf. Obviously a $36 6-pack would be untenable, but I don't usually want 6 of the same beer. My biggest complaint has to do with substitutions. Almost always, the available substitutes cost more than the originals, usually $3-$5 more each. This discourages substitutions! All in all, I would probably give them 3.5 stars. read more

I will give them three stars. I don't like being locked into certain styles and their beer is overall more expensive than Tavour. Any upgrades are a huge swing in price from the base and that is where they get you. I have found some good varieties on here, but I have also gotten stuck with stuff I can get at my own beer store, and I can get six of them for the price of two on here. Sometimes the overage cost to change is insane and at that point I just cancel my order and move on with life. Personally I like the flexibility of Tavour much better and their prices are also more fair. If I want to change out my beers I have found that not all of them are available in my given "category" which is annoying. I don't like drinking IPA's in the winter so my taste changes throughout the season and I don't like being locked in for one specific flavor. That being said, I have never had an issue cancelling a month order and I haven't had any issues with deliveries or quality of product when it has gotten to my house, so I will give credit where credit is due. read more

Considering a Gift-Certificate for your Loved One? DON'T buy it here. This place isn't an outright scam, but it's close. It's the "Columbia Record Club" of beer. I'm dating myself with this reference but young readers can search for it. Beer Drop requires that you sign up on a monthly subscription and requires a valid credit card to ship you anything. Even for customers that are redeeming a gift certificate. There is no valid way to contact them, they do NOT respond to emails and such. No tracking information is sent before deliveries. Selections are pretty thin and the ordering system on the website is horribly buggy. It took a huge amount of effort for me to take what they had chosen for my set of 6 beers and substitute in ones that actually matched my profile & preferences. I had a gift card to consume and so beyond just substituting the "club choices" I was adding on extra selections to use up all of the gift card. Sometimes when I would add a proffered beer to my cart the system would respond with "this beer is not available" and then zero out all of my other ala carte items. Frustrating as heck. After getting everything ordered, the system showed a delivery estimate 3-4 weeks in the future, when I had a planned vacation. So I had to "skip this monthly delivery" which pushed the eventual delivery date out a full month. I had to wait until the first window was over and then go through the whole rigamarole again with a different set of beers on the menus. No way was I giving them my primary credit card number. Had my credit card company generate a specific limited-use number just for Beer Drop so that I could cancel this card out to defend myself against forced shipments in the future. Everybody should do that with this company. In the end, the beers I received were okay. I would actually purchase a couple of them again. But not at the Beer Drop prices, and probably not in cans either. And not from a company with such a piss-poor customer interface. Even the DMV is more fun to deal with than Beer Drop. I started out by calling these guys the "Columbia Record Club" of beer. The glaring inaccuracy of that is they have no great loss-leader prices to get you hooked. Other than that, the experience is the same. I think most of their customers come from gift certificates - they have good social media ads that convince our loved ones we would appreciate the gift of beer. Hey loved ones! - if you are trying to figure out if this makes for a good gift certificate, it doesn't! Just get a gift card to that Bev-erage chain store instead. read more

This filtering mostly works although sometimes its recommendations don't match preferences. Swapping is fairly easy and you have a few days to do so before each shipment. Beer Drop is easily the best choice for a beer club, and I've tried many! First off, you can specify 5 styles of beer that you'd like to receive, which I've never seen any other club do. Personally, I'm a hoppy guy, so my choices ultimately ended up being 5 different hoppy beers. Secondly, you can opt of the re-suggestion option, in the event you want to make changes to what was selected for you, and are given 3 days to do that. Third, if you're going to be out-of-town, you can request that you either delay that choice or cancel it until you return. All in all, a great choice for a beer club and they're constantly updating their inventory choices, from breweries all over the USA. read more

We have only had two boxes and so far the boxes align with our choices. The first box I had to change 2 of the beer selections because it was not aligned to our preferences.
