For example, a 750ml of Tito's vodka is approximately $19.99 as a standard price but at this liquor store it is $29.99 !!!!!!! Or use your Vivino app to scan wines, they're always several dollars overpriced here for even entry level basic wine. Not to mention the store is a dump and the shelves are bare. Yuck just yuck. I wish there was another liquor store across from the King Soopers grocery store since they only carry beer. I bet that's why this place has any business. Capitol Hill Liquor continues to mislead and trick their customers by not displaying prices on anything as well as at check out. I wanted to love this place since it's down the street from my house but I will never give them another dime. We had gone in a few times and purchased the same exact 6 pack which had 3 different prices over the course of 2 weeks. I had read the reviews but didn't want to believe it but now I do. We make sure to tell any of our Airbnb guests to avoid this place because of their very shady practices. Additionally, the owner owns the entire building & the one across the street (Ace hardware, Namaste, Great Frame Up) both of which are clearly in massive disrepair. Ace Hardware, which is an awesome btw, has to keep plastic sheets over their shelves because of the leaking roof. This owner is greedy and should be ashamed of themselves. read more

And every few years, seemingly the whole state piles on to say that if such a thing ever passed, it would kill the craft beer industry and put Mom and Pop liquor shops out of business. I don't know about all those arguments, but if my vote will put an end to Capitol Hill Liquor's reign of disappointment at the intersection of 9th and Corona, then sign me up. How this place stays in business even without that law is simply beyond me. Here, for your consideration, is the typical experience: You walk in. The (seemingly) sweet old lady at the counter gives you a look. You've already fallen into her trap, even if she's the only one who knows it at this point, yet you stroll the aisles looking around for a six-pack and noticing nothing's in stock. And price tags? Nowhere in sight. The whole building seems moments away from collapsing. "If TJ Maxx ran liquor stores," you think, "they'd look like this." But you manage to find your six-pack of New Belgium somethingorother and bring it up to the register. The woman smiles at you--a mischievous smile--while she scans the bar code. "$15," she says without a hint of remorse. Your stomach drops and her smile is gone. She's fixed on you. "I can always put it back," you tell yourself. "Skyline's not that far away." But you can't. You're sweating. You can't look cheap in front of this woman. She stares into your soul. Without breaking eye contact, you pull out your Visa. The thing is done. She has claimed another victim. They don't post their prices, so when you go to pay you realize you are paying 12 bucks for a 6 pack of Sam Adams, but still don't want to put it back and walk out. The prices are ridonculous. I used to go there when I didn't feel like walking the extra few blocks, but not anymore. I've officially boycotted this store. It's nasty, overpriced and they have poor customer service. I'd rather buy 3.2 beer from King Soopers. Go the few extra blocks to Joy on 6th/Merian or at least go to 11th/Ogden to Skyline. Literally- what??? How does the place stay in business? I literally live across the street and just moved in. If they had reasonable prices, I would probably be a regular customer for the next however many years. Heck, I'd pay a dollar or two extra for the convenience. But 8 dollars more? I grabbed a variety pack of Truly Seltzers, which is usually in the ballpark of 14 or 15 dollars. The other reviews are correct, prices are not marked on shelves (talk about obvious shadiness). I'm not a nickel and dimer or bargain hunter, so I didn't care or notice. I get to the cashier and he says $23. I was like, I'm sorry, I think I misheard you. He laughed and said, I agree, this is overpriced, isn't it? I said- uh, yeah, and not by a little. It's okay to be a bit pricier if your location is the epitome of convenience, I get it. I used to patronize this store because it was nearby & I prefer supporting independent businesses. But the selection is terrible, and the bottles outside the coolers are eerily dusty. The greatest negative is that they don't put prices on the products they carry, so you always enjoy a nice price gouging surprise at the register. Alright so, I live in the neighborhood. I can walk their with my dogs. They are OVERLY dog friendly. They all love my dogs. And my pups always leave with a million treats and praise. You can't go wrong when all of a stores employees treat your dogs like angels! The prices are marked up. But I totally get it, it's a family owned company. Whenever I'm feeling cheap and by cheap I mean wanting to get in my car and drive for alcohol, I'll go to Argonauts. But usually I'm not. I do however buy my cigarettes at Queen Soops because it's just a little cheaper and still on my walk home. But I often get ice here when Queen Soops is randomly out of ice. I do see a lot of people complain about the price tags not being visible. It might be that I usually buy wine and there is a like, garage sale type sticker on them with a price, and same with the liquor I occasionally get. But I cannot attest to the beer. I will say when this happens to me in any store I first check for a price and if not found I simply ask. And if I don't like the price, I put it back. All in all the customer service is great! I come here all the time (a normal amount I'm not an alcoholic but if I was who cares) the store itself is old and a little dusty it could use a clean. But you're not in a Nordstrom. It's a corner liquor store. I love it here. You'll always feel welcome- especially if you have a dog. Help a local business with me. read more

I love my local liquor store. It is great if you need a quick bottle of wine or 6 pack. The store clerks are always super friendly and very helpful/knowledgable about the products. The selection is basic, but just enough for the local corner. It beats going to Argonaut or Mr Bs when you want a case of nascar beer or a quick bottle of wine to go with dinner. Much of the sparse selection is lacking of any pricing information, so when I picked up a six pack of a New Belgium beer, I was amazed when it rang up at $13. The lady that is usually at the counter has always been friendly, but I was annoyed when she couldn't slide my credit card, and told me that Visa was going to charge me an additional $5 if she had to manually punch in the numbers... Now, I'm no credit card expert here, but I've never, before this day, been threatened by a cashier that the credit card headquarters was going to charge me a fee for the cashier's inconvenience of punching in my credit card number. read more
