What a nice little spot to truly just enjoy beer. When you walk in it kind of looks like a mix between a bar and a retail store, that's because it kind of is. This is a spot where you can hang at the bar and enjoy a beer or look through the coolers and purchase a beer to drink later. Great little place w a huge variety of beers! A friend from work told me about their $2 discount when you take your beer to go. We were talking beers today and Stone Brewings Smoked Porter came up. I've never tried it or been into beer works. When work was over I figured it was time for a field trip and picked up the Stone Smoked Porter. Bartender was friendly and helpful and helped me find another dark that I haven't tried yet, Klamath Basin Vanilla Porter. This is a store Medford needed badly. The selection is broad and reflects almost all major beer styles. The "geuze" (grzz-er) from Frank Boon in Belgium is a stroke of genius for fans of sour Flemish ales. Now it is time for Medford beer visionaries to step up and tackle their biggest probelm. That is, serving ALL beers at the temperature recommended for Coors and Budweiser. Shocking as it may seem, true beer locations have long fitted themselves for DIFFERENTIAL COOLING which allow ales to blossom. It is also time to do away with (gag!) chilled glasses! Unless you have just finished mowing 3 acres on an August day, you do not want a brain freeze. You want a fragrant and flavorful, cool glass to beer. read more

First let me say it's wonderful having a specialty beer selection. You guys order good beer and try to keep good taps on rotation. Unfortunately that's about where my love ends. Sadly entering this place you immediately grasp the lack of warmth and comfort indicative of a great bar. It has that strip mall feel yet it has a great old brick wall. Call a decorator, seriously. Normally I wouldn't say it but this is a huge detractor for me. Sitting in a big empty space that echoes when you talk just doesn't make for a good time. Music. Good lord. Do you honestly believe I want to listen to local radio? That's if there's music playing at all. Sacrilege! Buy a Pandora account, already. Other than the fact coming here is more like a Medford high school reunion, most of the time there's great potential. I feel welcome. First of all: I am not a beer drinker, but my husband is. So, take this with a grain of barley. I stumbled upon Beerworks while I was walking through downtown Medford one day this summer. It was a hot day, and after stepping inside to see what the place even was (store? bar?brewery?) I called my husband and took him on a date there that very night. Beerworks has a large selection of beers from all over the place, including local and international brews. They have a selection of beers that can be very hard to find here in Medford. You can buy from the cooler and drink on site or buy from the cooler to take home. They also have four (or five?) beers on tap each day and they change them out regularly to mix up the selections. Friday nights, I am told, they have a "themed" happy hour where they do tastings of 5 or 6 beers with a theme. The bartender was friendly and knowledgeable, prices were decent but some of the beers were a bit spendy. I agree with the other reviewers that the ambiance leaves a lot to be desired. Get some cushy chairs instead of just bar - tables, make it a little more inviting to sit around and drink a brew or two. The hard seats and the cold/hard atmosphere are a turn off. I know the place is called Beerworks, but I suggest having a wider selection of wine than just one red and one white. This would encourage me to drag my old man down there more often. We live in a mecca of wineries, so it wouldn't be too hard to diversify a tiny bit to give non-beer drinkers something to enjoy. read more

I'm not extremely new to beer, being twenty two. I began drinking wine, and then started taking interest in beers when I had my first Hefeweisen. Now I've begun to sample craft brews from everywhere I can. Having a place like this that makes available brews which you can't find at your grocery store is very wonderful! While the selection isn't impressive when compared to other establishments like it, say, in Portland, for Medford it is a godsend. It has HUGE potential. I would love to see this place grow into becoming a spot where you can sit down with townfolk like you see in Lord of the Rings and have a merry ol' time with a mug of ale! I just have to divert from the 4 and 5 star reviews here. I was quite disappointed in the selection, and even more disappointed in the prices. Hubby and I had been wanting to visit since we first saw it, and we were both saddened that the beers are sold in singles, and that the selection was limited to just four or five reach in coolers. That many coolers might sound like a lot (and it might be for Medford) but where I'm from this is not considered "selection". Sadly, we bought nothing. The one staff guy was nice. read more

We used to come here quite a bit and liked it at first but stopped coming after finding a few other breweries with much friendly staff and a lot more outdoor seating such as Walkabout Brewing Company. The tall male bartender was friendly but unfortunately he was only there the first two times we visited, the rest of the times was a young blonde who is far from friendly, never smiles and the last time we were there was very rude which made it our last time going....which is unfortunate because it has a decent selection of canned/bottled beer and is a great location. Finally! A beer store in Southern Oregon. Visited here a few days after their opening. Their selection of beer is HUGE and always growing. The pricing is a little confusing at first, but to put it simply: If you want to drink there, it's cheaper than a bar; and if you want to take beer home, it's cheaper than the store.
