There is a somewhat small museum of knives and knife culture. Due to my ignorance about the culture, I took a few dozen photos and moved on. A few times a year, I head from TN to IN and using US 31W as bypass for Louisville bound and construction traffic, I can see myself stopping buy to pick up some gum, soup starters, soap, suace and such. Red Hill Cutlery is also home to the Kentucky Museum of American Pocketknives which displays over 100 years of knife history. I couldn't help but visit this pocket knife museum. I loved the bourbon balls and the antler key chain ring I got here as a surprise gift too. They have a stellar collection and history of knives . Everything I really wanted were in the hundreds of dollars range. This place is worth a visit if you happen to go to the Boundary Oak Distillery on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail next door.

There were only eight people in the class and we were separated into two tables of four, so we did everything with another couple. A pro of this is that you don't have to do ALL the work - you can split tasks among people in your group and have time to watch/listen/learn/enjoy. A con to this could also come if you get paired up with people who are taking it seriously when you want to have fun or vice versa. Luckily the couple we were paired with were cool and liked to have fun and joke around, just as we did. Our chef/instructor was Rebecca and she was the best part of the class! She was very knowledgeable, engaging, and made us laugh a lot. She will even photobomb your pictures (she did warn us at the beginning haha) - photo evidence included! A big con for us is that they do not serve alcohol during cooking classes. However, you are technically allowed to bring in your own if it is not in the obvious wine/alcohol bottle. We brought wine in Yeti tumblers and they did not mind at all. However, it felt kind of odd because the other people were not drinking. In cooking classes we've done t other places, wine and beer was served throughout the entire class and just about everyone was taking part. Still, it's nice that you can enjoy some wine if you know this beforehand and remember to bring your own. The food was incredible!!! We made salads and lobster ravioli. It was my first time making any type of homemade pasta and now I'm set on getting the pasta making attachment on my Kitchen Aid mixer! The portions were not the biggest and there was no dessert (I have a HUGE sweet tooth so this was a disappointment for me). Still, all in all it was a fun experience. We will not be rushing back, but we're open to trying it again.

It strikes a good balance of having plenty to look at, but not becoming overwhelming. The items for Thanksgiving and Christmas were nicely included in the shop's current offerings and matched the rest of the decor perfectly. It sounds simple but I think stores that can do this really understand who they are, and have an eye to make it happen. In the back of the store is a small workshop. They will soon be decorating trays, teaching how to apply transfers and stamping holiday bags. If you enjoy these opportunities for creativity, follow their social media pages for updates. The coolest item that caught our eye was a vinyl rug. You can select from a variety of designs and it's easy to mop clean. We're intrigued - it would be great for our foyer where muddy shoes come through.
