Chicken Breakfast Sandwich with Home Fries.
    Jason C.

Came here on Christmas Eve. It was empty when we arrived but was absolutely packed by the time we left. If you plan on coming in, get there early! Our server was great! She took care of everything we needed! No complaints! The food was ok! I had the chicken and waffles sandwich and washed it down with a Bloody Mary. The Bloody Mary was boozy! It was good but very strong! The place itself is nice. No complaints about the restaurant overall. It was ok, nothing to write home about. There are a lot of options in the area. May return if an opportunity presents itself.

Brunch was good! We had the mimosas as well which was a cute bottle of champagne and juice of your choice. The pancake was delicious and the beggar's breakfast bowl was great. The service was great and this place has a lot of seating.

Our apartment agent man recommended Beggars Beunch and it did not disappoint! The Beggars Bowl was really good with that sauce!? AMAZING. French toast was good too, I'm just not a big sugary person for breakfast. Also lots of fun cocktail brunch options that I'd love to try next time.

    Bottle Service, St Julian Riesling

Called ahead 40 minutes in advance on a Friday night after hearing about a live music performance, was greeted on the phone by the extremely accommodating manager named James. Asked about potentially reserving a table close to the music, and for only a small fee we were able to get a table with linens and decor in a great location relative to the live music. Sports played on all tv's, to my husband's enjoyment, and our service from Juniper was excellent. She was very attentive and seemed extremely passionate about taking care of our needs. My husband ordered the pesto tortellini with grilled chicken, and LOVED it. I wasn't too hungry so I only ordered a plain chicken breast and it was cooked very well. Bottle service was presented very elegantly and aside from the wine we enjoyed, all other cocktails were excellent. The music performance was great as well, and the ambience of the restaurant was lovely. For our first time being here, it blew our minds on how lovely not only the drinks and food were, but the service and environment Beggar's offers as well.

Beggar's Banquet is such an East Lansing staple and the food is already quality. The drinks get great care and attention seasonally as well.

Why mat the cocktails be so awful? They're insulting. Bad. Jalapeño Marg is undrinkable, others grossly sweet.

Our server, Will, suggested a wine that turned out to be spot-on: a dry, subtle Chardonnay, nicely chilled and presented in a granite cooler on our table like it was royalty. Loved that detail. The entrées did not disappoint. My husband had the salmon, delicately enhanced with salmoriglio, served with wild rice atop a light bed of bok choy and baby carrots--simple, fresh, and perfectly balanced. I had the crab-stuffed shrimp, which was absolutely fabulous, also with wild rice, baby carrots, and that sneaky little layer of bok choy you barely notice but totally appreciate. It was a busy Saturday night, so definitely make reservations--it's worth it. The atmosphere struck the perfect balance: lively but not loud, elegant without being stuffy--the kind of place that makes you feel justified putting on heels and lipstick just because. And a special shoutout to GM Brad, who was absolutely wonderful, along with the rest of the staff. Warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming--service like that makes a great meal unforgettable. We'll absolutely be back.

Dinner and service, however, was a huge disappointment. The 3 differnt pasta dishes ordered were bland and the pasta overcooked. The Carbonara tasted like Alfredo with some bacon pieces thrown in. While the accompaniments to the Branzino were good, the fish was overcooked and dry. Server was inattentive and didn't check on how the mains were. They also couldn't get the bill correct. We won't be back for a while. Hopefully, things will improve with time.

Our server, Tanner, was genuinely kind and welcoming, which made a big difference. The table was set nicely when we arrived -- wine glass and water glass, silverware wrapped with cloth napkins on a side plate, and a candle lit off to the side. It felt thoughtful and perfect for a date night. We split the French Onion Soup to start, and it was delicious. Maybe a little pricey at $12, but it came with lots of cheese and bread (plus bread on the side), so it felt worth it as a starter. My boyfriend ordered a Long Island Iced Tea -- strong, but no complaints there -- and I got cranberry juice. Both drinks came out in the same glassware as the water, styled like cocktails, which I actually appreciated. No weird "different treatment" if you're not drinking alcohol, which is always a plus to me. We also did the Build-Your-Own Board, which was really fun, and Tanner was super helpful in guiding us through the choices. We picked Summer Sausage, Garlic & Herb Soft Cheese, Smoked Gouda, Fire Roasted Tomatoes, and Balsamic Onion Jam. The Fire Roasted Tomatoes were SO GOOD, and I usually don't even like tomatoes. They were soaking in olive oil (I think?), which had great flavor and paired perfectly with the bread and Garlic & Herb Cheese. I also really enjoyed the Balsamic Onion Jam, savory, slightly sweet, and a little goes a long way. Overall, everything tasted great. I was a little disappointed in the portion of Smoked Gouda compared to the soft cheese, especially considering some soft cheeses can retail around $30 per pound. If you're looking for the best value, you might consider a different cheese option. That said, extra bread was only $1, which felt like a great deal for the amount we received. We were honestly getting pretty full and almost couldn't finish it all. We were seated in the cellar area, which was okay, just a little small, and the music was pretty loud. Not ideal for a Valentine's date when you're trying to have a conversation. Random but important: the bathrooms were spectacular. Individual, spacious, very clean, nice sink setup, pump soap, automatic paper towel dispenser, and even a candle lit. Honestly, 10/10 bathroom experience. Overall, it's a really solid date night spot with great service and good food. Just a couple small tweaks (music volume and cheese portions!) would make it even better. We'd definitely come back.

I decided to check out the bar/lounge at the nearby Sheraton and have to say, no wonder Marriott decided to buy these guys! They have great beers on tap and great food. I had the sliders and the Santorini salad, which has fried artichokes on it. The sliders were great. Straight up beef patties on a brioche-like bun. No filler, slightly thin, but still tastes great and beefy. Just what I wanted. The Santorini salad is about twice as big as I thought it would be for $9. I really liked the greens which included butter, red, iceberg and romaine lettuces. It also had goat cheese, olives and fried artichoke hearts. Yum, but I couldn't finish it. Since I'm at the Res Inn I just took the rest with me. I also had the Blond ales on tap. Their big deal is supposed to be the wine selection, but the beer selection is very good. Perfect for slider night! Full, refreshed and ready for he long plane rides home tomorrow.

The food and service here are really good, and the atmosphere is quiet and relaxing. Located in the lobby of the Sheraton, you almost miss it because it is so quiet. The ambiance is a little dark but not really dark - so perfect for relaxing. There is an unobtrusive TV above the bar for sports enthusiasts, but it is quiet to allow for conversation. The food ranges from quite good to really, really good. The bruschetta is distinct and fantastic. The mixture is served separately from the crustini, ensuring that the bread doesn't get soggy. And it has little pieces of fresh mozzarella in it to add even more freshness! Their fried mozzarella is also quite good, clearly freshly made. A friend had their salad and got blackened salad on it and really enjoyed it. They are happy to customize orders, whether that be food or drink. And they are happy to make drinks extra strong, so that's never a bad thing!
