The thinnest sprinkled cut tenderloin I ever had without much flavor on a salad. Gorgonzola cheese served with Caesar dressing is also odd, perhaps I should've inquired about a vinaigrette dressing instead.

This place continues to be a win for me. I was there for lunch this time. I went with some colleagues so we could have a meeting in a relaxed yet classy environment. The service was great and the food continued to rise above expectations. Although the menu options had changed a bit, my needs were still met with ease and flavor.

There's a reason this place is a local favorite. The food is good, the portions are enormous, the staff is friendly, and it is a nice place to spend your time. The art on the walls is charming and even when it is packed it's a nice ambience.

This place came with high reviews from friends and family who had been there previously. It's located right off of Michigan Ave near the capital and there's street parking and a small parking lot available. The wait to get a table was fast and the server came and got our drink order almost immediately, even with a packed restaurant. I think this place has a slight diner feel to it after looking at the menu (ITS HUGE) I always worry when a restaurant has pages of entrees available because it's sometimes an indicator that items are frozen/food distribution items and not fresh/prepped by a kitchen. The appetizers we got were generous portions for three people and we took home the leftovers. Our soups were mediocre, I picked a permanent one on the menu - the French onion soup. I also wasn't crazy about the area where we sat! It was in the back near the bathrooms and it felt weirdly unfinished and there were wires hanging from the ceiling. I'm not sure I'd come back - it didn't blow me away! Oh and on my way out I noticed some moms trying to lift their baby carriages up the stairs into the restaurant, is there a handicap entrance or ramp somewhere? I didn't notice one. I'm sorry but I've definitely been to some better soup sandwich places!!!

This place is very busy weekday or weekend. We went on a Tuesday during lunch and did have a small wait. Soup and salad were great and I just love the vibes of this place. Mac n Cheese with chicken that my coworker received looked soooo good. A Lansing staple!

I came here because this place receives really great reviews from the Lansing foodies group. The staff were very friendly and reassuring... I almost ended up leaving but I stayed for lunch. I got the seafood chowder which was good but a little on the salty side. I was able to finish though... I got the smokin b sandwich was okay. The meat could have used some seasoning. I only ate half and took the rest home. My guest enjoyed the pasta dish. The price was very reasonable. I would come back to try something else. They have a very large menu to choose from.

I came here while visiting MSU and heard a lot about this place. The wine selection is good. Our waiters were friendly. Food came out fairly quickly. The food was just ok. The bread and olive oil is odd because the bread is not toasted. Just smaller versions of sliced bread. The rack of lamb was just ok. It was cooked very rare. There was blood all over my linguine and that made it appetizing. I wished they had asked me how I liked it cooked. The linguine was cold so the cheese sat atop it. The kale side was really good though. I mostly ate that and sliced off the more medium parts of the lamb. It was rough though and hard to eat. I barely ate my food. The place is nice and inviting, but my experience was lackluster.

i never thought i'd see the day i leave a 1 star review but i really cannot express how disappointing this place was. i came hoping for good soup (i mean... their name is the soup spoon cafe) and a can of Campbell is better. I ordered the tomato basil, a pretty classic soup, but as it turns out it was actually a creamy tomato basil which is not what i expected. the texture was horrible, it felt like it was curdled but i confirmed it was the normal texture for their soup. the flavor was not at all like a classic tomato basil which was incredibly disappointing and the texture was unbearable. nothing else that i ate here was worth talking about cause it was equally disappointing. the service wasn't horrible but also not amazing. we were sat at a table directly across from the open kitchen so the noise made it very difficult to talk to my friend across from me. to add to the displeasure, i was shocked to see how expensive my check was for how little food we got and for how low quality the food was. overall would not recommend and never plan to go back.

    - A Cozy, Friendly Spot Near Downtown Lansing We were visiting Lansing and looking for a good breakfast spot near the Michigan History Museum. While there weren't many walkable options, we found The Soup Spoon Café and it turned out to be a great choice. The menu isn't especially gluten-free friendly, but the staff was super accommodating. My daughter ordered the Build Your Own Omelette with bacon ($13.49) and swapped out the toast for a side salad. The salad was fresh and the vinaigrette had great flavor--nice presentation too! My wife ordered the Cherry Omelette ($17.49), which--despite the name--had no cherries. It's actually a seafood omelette with shrimp and a lobster sauce. She loved the blend of textures and flavors, and said the eggs were cooked perfectly. It came with crispy hashbrowns and an English muffin. I went with the Eggs Your Way breakfast ($14.49)--two eggs, toast, bacon, and hashbrowns. Nothing fancy, but solid and filling. The café has a warm, laid-back vibe, and our server was genuinely friendly and helpful the entire time. It made the experience even better. Overall, a great local find for brunch. We'd come back!

Had an absolutely lovely meal at The Soup Spoon Cafe this week. The server was charming, cheerful, and extremely attentive. I had my SDiT (Service Dog in Training) and wasn't asked inappropriate questions or harassed at the door -- everyone was completely appropriate and let me enjoy my meal with my family. I asked for my French onion soup to be served screaming hot and they did! It came out deliciously hot! My husband ordered the Eggs Benedict and the eggs were cooked beautifully (this also came with salad, but he ate it too quickly for me to grab a photo). It was nice and quiet and I'd recommend as a great place to have a business meeting or a first date. Thank you!

We walked in and were greeted with a long communal table all set up with a tablecloth - they do a Thanksgiving potluck each year and there were a ton of people there already. We luckily got a booth with some good views of the few TVs they have and the crowd was friendly and all decked out in Lions gear. The bartender was super friendly and let us know that the food would be ready in about an hour. It's free to eat as much as you want, and they had TONS of food, including at least 3 turkeys, lots of sides, desserts, and it looked like they were setting up for a mac and cheese competition. I kept saying how nice it was to have this spot for the community and it really felt very welcoming. I love the ornate bar, with the stained glass and big wooden griffins (we think they're griffins anyway). It's such a cool place and if I lived nearby I think I'd want to be a regular here. It's always nice to feel welcomed in a townie bar like this and I think we have a new Thanksgiving tradition!
