The service was horrible. Our waitress Kari never came back to check on us. My granddaughter had to wait for her mack and cheese. At least it was hot when she got it . We asked for more pop and never got it. My daughter had to go ask for it. We were finished eating and again she never came back. So again we had to track someone down to get boxes and our check. After about 20 minutes she came to our table and brought us the boxes and our check. We again waited for her to come and get our check she didn't come back. So I was tired of waiting for her started to leave and go pay. She saw I was leaving she walked up to me and grabbed the check and my debit card out of my hand. I kept telling her I just wanted to get out of there. I had to go! I went over to get my debit card. She never once apologized. Money was taken off of our bill. Which was greatly appreciated. the service here is absolutely terrible. our server took awhile to greet us at our table. we ordered drinks those took some time as well but but to bad my wife had gotten a smoothie so I'm sure thats what did it. the appetizer came out fast but then when we needed drinks the server was nowhere to be found......my friend decided after about 15min to just go up to the drink area and ask whoever was there for a beer. well he got a beer and it was in a soda tumbler not a pint glass he kinda just look at the staff like what the fuck is this. but the staff just hurried away knowing they did wrong. he came back to the table irritated with the situation. the pizza came out and the server just slid the pizza on the table and hurried away mind you we still need more drinks for the table. so I walk to the front and find a manager I told him about the issue and he asked me what table I was at I pointed and he referred to the number system the restaurant uses. I said "sorry sir I don't know your table numbers" he seemed irritated by that so he half ass followed me to my table looks at us and walks away no hey I'm sorry or even a bit concern about us h just took 25% off our bill. now the server is checkin on us pretty often now that I said something. its time for the bill the server pretty much said there is no way he can split the bill down the middle and that we have to circle what I wanted to pay for which wasn't fair to either me or my friend cause it wasn't an even split but what ever ill just buy a round next time we go out. The best pizza I ever had was when I was in high school, but the guy moved to Arizona for his wife's health so I had to shop around. I started going to Beggars when one of my son's girlfriends worked there and I was surprised at both the flavor and the amount of pizza you get - they DO lay it on thick. Sure, I sometimes eat elsewhere, but there's nothing like Beggars. My favorite is one with all veggies and no meat - melts in your mouth and the flavor is WOW! Some of the other items on the menu are pretty good - burgers beat the pants off of fast food stuff and the pasta is pretty good. Chicken Parmesan and a salad does it for me. I placed an order for carryout over the phone to this Beggars pizza location. When I came to pick up my pizza there was one customer in front of me. The young cashier was very nice and polite to that customer. She told the customer, "thank you, enjoy your pizza, have a great day with a smile." When it was my turn to step up to the counter to pay for my carryout I was given a dry greeting. Also when I received change for paying with a $20 bill, she drop the change from 2 feet in the air into my hand, like she was scared of making contact. She then slid my pizza to me and I was told, "here you go". What am I??? A dog or something! I really believe if this Beggars didn't have to serve black people then they wouldn't. Service was ok, the talented organ player was on key once again!!! We asked if there was something we could do for the birthday boy but were told no. Later to find out we could of ordered a cookie pizza with a candle. Waitress came back to only fill 1/2 of our tables drinks and it was hard to get her attention. Atmosphere was great. I am currently staying at a Best Western in Hammond, IN and the Beggars pizza told me they don't deliver to hotels in Hammond, IN the woman on the phone wanted me to give her the phone number to the hotel to verify if I was staying at a hotel. I've always enjoyed pizza from here, I was at a bar next door and large ordered a pizza 1/2 sausage 1/2 pepperoni I went to pick it up it was about 15 min to closing time and I went back to the bar to enjoy my pizza I grabbed a slice and the bottom of the pizza wasn't even cooked!! I was so grossed out you had to tear the pieces apart and the whole pizza would come with that's how half done the pizza was. I called over and spoke to the lady in the front she told me they were closing and couldn't make a new one, I told her I had no problem taking it back over just so he can cook more. I really just wanted to eat , she told me again no because they were closing and everything was off she told me they would give me a full credit for my pizza under my name and number I threw the pizza away and left. So the following week I called over to get my pizza and they told me they couldn't find any credit I explained my story and she put me on hold a good 10 min on and off. Finally got back and told me I had $5 off I was like no that's not what I had agreed with and I thought she couldn't even find my name . She then passed me to the " supervisor " who told me they would only give me a $10 off because I wasn't a loyal customer I explained the situation again and told them i would've asked for a refund that same night if I would've known I would only get $10 off they said that's all they can do. Bottom line SUPERVISOR sucks at customer service and I will never go back again. read more

Recently, I visited home and decided to go here, as I remember it being pretty good. It was ok. But for the price, it should be more than that. Their prices are outrageous for an okay pizza. I was told "once you have had beggars pizza, nothing else can compare". So of course I had to try it! We ordered a medium thin crust sausage pizza and he had a pop and I had a water. Out bill was a little over 14 which is not bad. Medium pizza was plenty for us and gave us both leftovers to take home. I felt like their idea of thin crust was more like regular crust for other restaurants, so keep that in mind. It was very very good pizza! I liked that the sausage was big and not ground up like it is other places. I would give that 5 stars, I am giving the review 4 stars because of the organ. I know it is a staple of the place and it was nice having the music in the background, but it was SO loud we could not hear much from each other. Not the best place to go on a date (especially a second date where you are still getting to know each other). That is my only complaint though. Soooo good. Although I checked in, they couldn't process my yelp coupon which was annoying, although they nicely honored it anyways. The old vaudeville setting was cool. We ordered two pizzas a BBQ chicken thin crust , which was really really good... The sauce was great and the toppings were overflowing. We also ordered a deep dish onion, tomato and pineapple pizza that we are still eating, several days later. The sauce was so fresh and so tasty... It was seriously awesome! I thought the pizza was very good and service was great as well. I went on a Sunday after church and they were pretty busy. They sure do load it on and it might have been the best pizza I have ever had. The atmosphere is quite unique in good way and they have a large dining room that can cater to large parties. Haven't been there since it was Pipes and Pizza back in '89. We were all very happy with the whole experience - group of 10! My wife doesn't like the pizza at the Beggars near us, but she really liked it here! It was a Friday night and they were busy, so things took a little longer, but it didn't matter since the reason we went was for the pipe organ, and it was sure worth it! have only had pizza delivery from Beggars before and was always great pizza......but today went to thier lunch buffet....11:00-2:00 M-F ..... about $10.00 gets an all you can eat lunch with pop or iced tea and free refills....pitchers of domestic beer $6.50, sorri NO free refills on these haha......3 types of thin crust offered,,,,,cheese, sausage and pepperoni....although good, not as good as the pie we have had delivered....first couple pieces had to cut with a knife the crust was so hard....also a deep dish that dint lite any fires either.....salad bar with plenty of fresh veggies to add to you salad.....4 kinds of dressing.....although flavors were not listed so you had to wait for someone to ask what they were.....italian sausage that tasted really good...just the right amount of fennel which i love.....italian beef.....wasnt great ....look for the giardanera on the salad bar to spice it up....mashed potatos an gravy seemed a little out of place.....excellent broasted chicken, very crispy and moist inside, they best part as far as im concerned.....penne pasta and spaghetti...... choices ofmarinara and meat sauce....ok but nothing great......fresh bread to make sandwiches and a decent garlic bread......dessert pizza's....cherry very very sweet, the apple pie pizza was really good as well as the chocolate brownie deep dish pizza.....service very intentive...beware though....bring a sweater or lite jacket.....it was FREEZING inside.....all in all ok.....but for just pizza.....eat in , take out or delivery the way to go..... read more

Okay Living in the lansing / munster area and doing pizza reviews is not easy. There are lots of pizza places in the area and none of them are to die for! you just need to sample all of them and figure out what you like and stick with it. Beggars Pizza is pretty good if you like the kind of pie that is over loaded with toppings. they stack it high and tight on a average crust. The good thing is the pizza always seems the same not like some of the places that seem to change with who ever is cooking that night. the sandwiches and appetizers are okay and about like many of the other places in the area with the exception of the chili cheese fries (how can you mess them up?) there pretty good! over all good size servings and fairly priced for what you get. the downside is when calling to order for delivery there is always loud music in the back ground and it is annoying to feel like who ever is taking the order cant hear what your saying! read more

I visited Beggars in Lansing for lunch today for the first time in a while. I had previously been here for the great lunch buffet. When I walked in near 1 p.m., there were about 4 other people dining and only salad bar, pasta (on a small table in corner), and pizzas out on buffet. In fact, the previous hot food warmer that held the fried chicken, Italian sausage, Italian beef, mashed potatoes and gravy (my favorite), spaghetti, soups, and bread was gone. I first assumed that I was too late for the buffet and it was shutting down, but when I inquired about the buffet to the waitress she told me that was the buffet now. WHAT? What happened to the great buffet I would not call salad, pizza, and pasta a buffet. I stayed and had a plate of salad and some pizza but the sauce for the pasta was so runny that it ran all over my plate and made my pizza soggy. I will not be back for this "buffet" anymore and will go to Aurelio's lunch buffet in Hammond on future lunches. read more

We just held a 40th Wedding Anniversary party for my in-law's at this location and it was THE BEST!!! We were expecting about 75 people and when we showed up, the entire top level was clean. completely set up, and there were 2 waitresses designated just for our party. We had previously spoken with the manager and Glen (the pipe organist) was supposed to be there as well ( On Saturday-- his day off none the less) but an emergency came up and he was unable to make it. Instead, his brother Tim arrived and came to the rescue!! We had FANTASTIC music to accompany the delicious pizza, beer, and wine we were all enjoying while celebrating the long marriage of an awesome couple. A spontaneous polka party even erupted among the party-goers and when it was done, the waitresses were ready with extra water. We could not have chosen a better venue for our party and are VERY PLEASED!! Thanks Beggars!!! read more

I have been a faithful customer here for the past 25 yrs. my whole family loves it and I am so upset with them right now. Like I said. We have been good customers coming here for every birthday in the family to just having a family reunion there. I ordered a pizza last night and sent my mother to go pick it up because we saved up 106 coupons. The ones they give you when you get a pizza. Well for some reason even tho it is the same place as it was 20 yrs ago they wouldn't take some of them since they were so old and didn't make pink ones anymore. They then told my mom she had fake coupons we've been saving for 20+yrs. it was such an embarrassment for me and my mom being infront of 20 people and the employee is telling her she MADE THEM AT HOME!! My mom was so torn because of how many people were there she began to cry and run out without them. Highly suggest to not try to bring there coupons with no expiration dates on them. I'm very disgusted with management. What kind of management is that? This is bullshi*. My mom is the nicest person in the world and would never try to fake coupons for a fucking pizza!!!! read more
