The food was fine, but our waiter was appalling. Thought he was a comedian which was fun at first but then quickly went too far. By the end of the meal, he was dropping f bombs and made some incredibly inappropriate double-meaning joke about "drooling p***y." That's when we walked out. We are from out of town so nothing to compare this experience to...but my recommendation is to steer clear. read more

If I lived in Elmira, I would DEFINITELY be getting food from here when that Americanized Chinese food craving strikes (pretty sure they also have more traditional dishes too). Boyfriend and I split a Pu Pu Platter, which was beautifully presented. I also had shrimp & vegetables in garlic sauce and they did not skimp on the shrimps. He ordered chicken & broccoli and that was tasty too (was eating the leftovers the next day like a goblin LOL). The interior of the restaurant is pretty & would make a lovely date night spot. Mmmmm. I loved this place! When I visited Elmira, my mother-in-law wanted to get an authentic Chinese meal to accompany watching the 2022 Winter Olympics. She knew that this was the place to go! We did a super simple lunch with egg rolls, Lo mein and some black Chinese tea. I'm not normally an egg roll kinda girl, but these were perfect! There was shrimp and pork inside, which was a nice surprise. They were cooked perfectly and the Lo mein was delicious. Also, they have tea bags, and we steeped the black tea at home and every sip was perfection - I'm not kidding, I had three cups of tea, I loved it that much. Next time I'm back in town, I will definitely be paying another visit to this place! read more

I was really impressed with this restaurant. I was just in town for the day and honestly was not expecting to like my lunch this much! The egg roll was piping hot and had tender shrimp inside. They served hot tea and crispy noodles to start which was a nice touch. We had the tangerine beef which was really fresh and tender. The service was really good too. I wish I had a Chinese place like this in my town. It was a very pleasant atmosphere to enjoy a nice lunch. read more

Food is amazing. The best quality Chinese around. If we want good quality we always order from here. I downgraded to 4 stars solely because of the online crappy service Ekit sucks so bad when trying to order online. Every time I order I have 8 items and it only allows you to see 4 items. The software is very user-unfriendly. I usually spend 20 to 30 minutes just trying to order through Ekit and that is way too long to spend ordering. I also can only see what I ordered, not how many of each item i ordered. But the food is so good that I am willing to deal with the faults. read more

Ordered food from Beijing garden yesterday July 6 ordered house fried rice and general toes chicken number one the whole fried rice was nothing more thin mint rice with soy sauce on it and then the shrimp and chicken and pork without it destroyed in the general toes chicken the sauce was tasteless it was awful though this is the first time I've ever experienced anything so bad from Beijing garden but just keep an ion them to see if it gets any better than one star read more

Just got back from China and this is the closest thing you will get in Elmira that is Chinese food. The hubbie and I love to go here. The food is great. Steamed Dumplings, Yum! Be forewarned. We ate here today and after receiving our bill we noticed that the waitress added a $5.00 "gratuity charge" on our bill. I asked the owner about this and he seemed as puzzled as I was. He went to talk to the waitress and then took the charge off my bill. We are still going to be regulars here, but we will just make sure to double check our bill before paying. read more

Just got back to the hotel after eating dinner at Beijing Garden. There was only one other table of diners at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 21, 2019. Where were all the Yelp diners that gave this restaurant such high ratings? We ordered beef chow fun, Shanghai Pan Fried Noodle, Sesame Chicken, and Beijing Garden Special Soup. A bowl of fried rice was complimentary. The service was fine. The soup was good, although the wontons in the soup were a little tasteless and were made with thick wonton skins. The Sesame Chicken and Shanghai Pan Fried Noodle dishes was pretty typical of what might be expected of a Chinese restaurant in the middle of Elmira NY, a Caucasian stronghold. However, the Beef Chow Fun was absolutely terrible! I have eaten Beef Chow Fun at dozens of Chinese Restaurants and the Beef Chow Fun at Beijing Garden was the worst I have ever eaten. The beef and noodles in the dish were extremely bland. I couldn't believe that they served this dish the way it tasted. This dining experience was yet another head-scratcher as to how a restaurant could get such high ratings on Yelp. My reviews are honest - I can't explain many of the other Yelp reviews. read more

This is a hit-or-miss place. Some items, such as hacked chicken/noodles with sesame sauce, are consistently awesome. Some stuff is not, and -again - it's a hit-or-miss. We went the a week ago, before Enforcers' hockey game. My husband had a decent garlic/pork dish, my Szechuan been was beyond bland. It was labeled as spicy; it was not. Adding hot oil helped. The only seated Chinese restaurant in the area. Always consistent, and good service. The taste might be catered toward more for American clients, and not completely authentic Chinese, however compared to many of take out places in the area, this place is by far better than the others. Pretty decent Chinese food with good prices and service. The best thing about this place is the vintage interior. So many sit down Chinese places have gone out of business over the years. They all seem to be takeout nowadays. But this place still has the very red and a bit dark (and wonderful) "Chinese style" interior and is a nice spot for dinner. read more

One should be compelled to go out of their way to dine here. It is the paradigm of what a typical person in the U.S. should expect of Chinese cuisine. I judge this based on one experience. If you dine here, the egg foo yung is over the top. Selection....excellent, and curiously, a great variety of mixed drinks. This alone is makes it worth a visit. Price... great prices, it is closer to 1.5 dollars. Quality...as I previously stated, over the top. Other reviews consistently say this is the best Chinese food in the area. I can't speak to the area, but I didn't think the food at this restaurant was very good. We got a bean curd dish and Buddha's delight. The bean curd was falling apart, but tasted ok. The Buddha's delight included some very un-tasty seitan bits, and was very salty and unpleasant. Maybe the meat dishes are better? The tea was tasty and a nice touch. The waitress was nice enough. read more

I heard a lot of good things about Beijing garden so I decided to try it I was very disappointed in what I had gotten I ordered the large sesame seed chicken and Two Pepsi's they told me it would be a 45 minute wait. a hour and a half rolls by and when the food finally gets to my house (on water street three blocks away from the store) the container of chicken was very small even though I bought the large the food was soggy and cold I will never be buying from here ever again read more
