Basic things like General Tau's chicken or Hot and Sour soup were horrible- seriously???This stuff tasted like garbage pulled out of a dumpster. I ordered our meal over the phone. I could not understand a word that was repeated. That's fine, language barrier, no bid deal. However I repeated my order again to ensure she got it. I ordered rice, chicken and noodles. The rice and noodles were dry and the chicken was swimming in oil. The one taking my order was rude and had a nasty attitude, like she didn't wanna be there. First time I have ever actually thrown out Chinese take out. Everything tastes exactly the same, bland. Tried all of my go to's when checking out a new Chinese restaurant; fried rice, egg rolls, beef and broccoli, Kung pao chicken, sweet and sour chicken, hot and sour soup. The hot and sour soup was incredibly bland, not hot or sour. The egg rolls and sweet and sour chicken both had a very rancid oil taste like the fryer oil had not been changed in forever. The king pao sauce had a jelly, congealed consistency like too much cornstarch had been added. The beef in the beef and broccoli was very tough, which was a first for me in Chinese takeout. As for the fried rice, if I closed my eyes I would swear I was eating plain white rice. Not sure why this is such a popular place. read more

Stumbled upon here because I was staying at the Radisson, and this restaurant is literally just behind the hotel if you turn left into Market street from the back of the hotel. They have lunch combos, which looked OK. The shrimp with mixed veggie and mushroom with chicken were actually surprisingly good. What got me is that the noodle is extra if you rather have noodle than rice, I don't mind paying extra but there is a very funny after taste. Not only is it just as you'd imagine, filled with deliciousness, it also is delivered in record time and with a no frills approach. This was my experience anyway. Very dissatisfied! Whomever the lady is in the front who takes your order, nasty attitude. Acts as if she doesn't want to work. I came here in February for work and was craving Chinese food. Came here and was treated horribly by her. She spoke to me as if she had an attitude, was rushing me, and yanked my card out of my hand. I was going to give her a piece of my mind but I'm more classier than that. I just know, I will never go here again and I would recommend you not to do the same. The food was poor quality as well. This place used to be so good. I've been coming for 15 years. But I'll likely be going to Beijing in Elmira from now on. Mixed vegetables the past couple years have been like 50% huge chunks of onion and the garlic sauce is so greasy it makes me sick. Never used to be this way. Breaded chicken dishes are very hit or miss on whether you get mostly breading, fat or chicken. I like their house special soup and the fried rice is good. My husband likes the triple chili chicken (on a good day)but again you never know if you're going to get chewy fatty pieces or quality meat. Walked in before 2 pm to get a lunch combo special. There was 1 person in front of me picking up a call-in order. When I approached the counter, I waited an additional couple of minutes, as they were now on the phone taking an order. When I was able to order, I ordered a lunch combo and was told it was after 2 pm and that I could not get the lunch combo anymore. I looked at my watch, and it was 2:04 pm. Okayyyy....well I can live with that, I was hungry, just wanted lunch, and had no time to spend debating the situation. However, that is very poor customer service, and doesn't make me inclined to want to return or recommend to others. This is the only acceptable Chinese food take out option in Corning. Menu is standard dumb white guy, but well prepared. No surprises and the crunchy dishes are crunchy and there is just the right amount of sauces. Prices to amount of food is good and the restaurant is clean if spartan. It's ok some of the time. But they take forever sometimes or refuse to take your delivery order because it's "too busy". Just don't even offer delivery then! The chicken is too rough or has too much oil. read more

If they allowed us to give headlines for our reviews mine for Evergreen would be "Terrible service; mediocre food" and I generally hate leaving one star reviews, preferring instead to just not say anything then to trash a place. But the people who work here (except for the delivery driver), and especially the woman who works the phones and the register, are just so terrible to deal with that I felt compelled to leave a warning for anyone out there, who's new to the area or just visiting, and wondering if the place is any good. I tried them twice, to give them a fair shake, and each time was horrid. You can tell the workers don't care because they know they are one of 3 chinese restaurants in the area, and the locals will just have to suffer through their poor attitudes if they want chinese food, which to be honest, is passable: the sesame chicken is standard what you'd get in other places, the fried rice isn't that good and had a strange musky flavor to it (which seems to be the norm for Corning Chinese food); the dumplings are completely flavorless. So even if you're really in the mood for Chinese, I would recommend you pass on this place and try the Chinese Buffet in Painted Post or the one in Horse Heads / Elmira. read more

Horrible service and gross food! A friend and I were visiting upstate NY and had a craving for Chinese food. We were thoroughly disappointed in our decision to get food from Evergreen. Not only was the man who took our order rude and rushing us, when our food was done he threw everything in a paper bag only and tossed on the top of the hot food case. We had been sitting in the restaurant for 15 minutes waiting for them to cook the food and watched as other patrons had their orders packed up neatly in a paper and plastic bag with utensils and condiments. Not sure why our food was thrown into a paper bag with nothing else and tossed aside like garbage. Would NEVER recommend this restaurant and will NEVER go back! Learn customer service if you want to own a restaurant! Food was mediocre at best; we couldn't even eat it all because it was too sweet and oily. Yuck! read more

I was a regular, but not anymore! Just called to place an order for spareribs among other things. The guy ran my card and I realized that it wasn't clarified that I wanted boneless spareribs. He goes instantly to breaking civility and says in an aggressive tone "Awe man. Why didn't you say that before I ran your card?" So I return calmly and pointed out that both were the same exact price and asked him what the problem was. He went right to asking if I wanted my food or not? What? Then it occurred to me that I'm usually asked if I want boneless or not . So he threatens me again but more directly to not sell to me ever again. I asked to speak to a manager. He says aggressively, "I am. I am the boss" Yeah okay bud. There's 20 other places on Market to find something to eat. I'll find out who owns this place and file a complaint Monday. Listen. I've been ordering from this place personally around twice a month for the past 4 yrs. Also, I work on the hill and I've brought people in often for business lunches, I have included the restaurant in recommendations to others for bringing business guests out for lunch, and on occasion I have gathered the office together for chinese takeout. Altogether I estimate that I've given this business about $6000 for lunches and personal orders(not including recommendations and work gatherings) over the past few years. Not anymore. The buck stops here. This guy is always in a hurry on the phone and that was something I began to joke about with my spouse. One day while bringing out of country guests in for lunch I noticed he was the same way with people on the phone and there wasn't anyone else in the restaurant, but there where three people working in back. The phone wasn't even ringing off the hook with orders. This was the call that broke the camels back. I'm done. If you don't support businesses treating customers like they are the great soup Nazi from NYC while their food is only mediocre to begin with then join me and make a stand. Ate lunch here and was not particularly impressed. I ordered the Hunan chicken, and it was nearly inedible. The meat was chewy and swimming in oil, the sauce was overly sweet, and there was no spice or complexity to the flavor at all. The egg roll and fried rice were OK, however. There I sat in the filthiest place know to the eastern seaboard, when I watched Javier the cockroach race Lenny the mouse it was disgusting I watched as ants cheered on the race I took a bite into my food and realized my mistake as I pigeon flew over my food and took a snow like poop in my food disgusted I continued to watch the race Lenny was pulling up behind Javier their finish line was the salt shaker and Lenny was clearly making a huge comeback but then tragedy struck as Lenny was killed by me bc it was disgusting, like why would I wasn't a roach and mouse on my table wtf????? Anyways what happened next was horrible as I gazed at my plate I saw no fortune cookie delirious and scared I passed out and woke up in the hospital I now have a couple years to live and plan on getting revenge on Evergreen, don't go there June 21 2016-June 21 2020 as I plan to bomb the place sometime in between that period 1 STAR!!! read more
