Chong's skill and attention to detail truly deserve 5 stars, and I appreciated her professionalism throughout the service. Unfortunately, my overall rating reflects a significant concern with pricing transparency. I booked a simple haircut (approximately 3 inches trimmed off), expecting it to align with the salon's advertised starting price of around $50 and take roughly 30 minutes. Upon checkout, the total came to $89.50, with the explanation that my daughter's thick hair warranted the additional charge. While I understand that thicker hair can require more time and effort (a common industry practice), I was not informed of any potential surcharges beforehand--either during booking, consultation, or before the service began. I would have appreciated being consulted or made aware of the adjusted pricing in advance to make an informed decision. In hindsight, I should have reviewed the pricing menu more closely, including any fine print regarding hair density. The quality of the work was excellent, but the lack of upfront communication about the final cost left me disappointed and feeling caught off guard. I had a very bad and traumatic experience. I made a mistake of my life to go to this place irrespective of bad reviews. Elena's assistant took me in and washed my hair and did a deep conditioning treatment. Elena walked in and seated me to cut my hair. From the start, she was rude and pointed out how bad my hair was. I knew I had thin ends and that is the reason why I am there. She chopped my hair, trimmed my front layers. That is it and proceeded to blow dry. When I asked her, if it was done, she claimed she's '' fast ''. Then the nightmare started when she said '' my hair smells like curry'' and '' I'm not her customer'' . she refused to blow dry and at this point I'm shocked beyond belief and extremely humiliated at this point. I confronted her and shot a video, I was disgusted at her behavior and walked out helpless.. She's a racist and never in my life I'll step inside the salon. I love going to Belanova! Elena is magic, if you watch while getting your hair done- each person who comes in leaves their own kind of beautiful. I've been going to Belanova for years and when a woman comes in, she leaves feeling better. I've seen girls going to prom and the whole salon of women celebrates them, from my chair I've heard women talking about challenges in their lives and there is kindness from the others there. I've been a customer of Belanova for a few years now. Belanova is IMO one of the best salons in Tampa. I had my haircut yesterday. I scheduled it online (on their app) with Liz. I was a bit earlier for my appointment, so when Elena (the owner) showed up, and opened the salon, she greeted me warmly, and didn't just sit there. She immediately started washing my hair and blow drying. Then Liz gave me an amazing haircut. As she always does! Both Elena and Liz are incredibly hard workers, talented, and you can see how supportive of each other/team players they are, when it comes to caring for their customers. They treat you with respect, always asks you what you're looking to do with your hair, whether it is style, cut or color. Clients beware! If you have nothing...integrity and honesty should be at the top of the list. Unfortunately there is not an option for less than one star because they blatantly lied. I have used Dream Catcher extensions for years in another state and when I called for my appointment they indicated they carried Dream Catchers. The staff was very friendly and I was greeted quickly. All good so far! Then they told me they no longer carried Dream Catchers but carried another brand Hair Talk that was the same quality. They asked me to try them and if I wasn't happy they would take them out and refund my money for the hair. After not even a week the hair in my extensions and my extensions were coming out in clumps and the ends were so dry. I called them back and asked me to come in. They said they stood behind the brand and sold me some product for the dry ends and suggested a water filter for my shower. I did both and still the extensions came out and hair continued to fall out daily. I called them yet again and asked them to take them out and refund my money. They told me even though they did not carry Dream Catchers they could obtain them and put in Dream Catchers free of charge. I agreed. On the day of the appointment when I arrived the extensions were out of the package sitting on the side table. I validated/asked if they were Dream Catchers and they assured me they were and put them in. Again after less than a week the SAME thing happened. I didn't believe they Dream Catchers so I went to a certified Dream Catcher salon and they validated they were NOT Dream Catchers. I called Bellavova and asked one more time to give them a chance to tell me the truth. They assured me they were indeed Dream Catchers. Even after telling them I went to a certified Dream Catcher salon to validate, they would not refund even a portion of the money for the hair and then hung up on me. I just wish people had more integrity and honesty. I will never return and have found a certified Dream Catcher salon who doesn't lie. My Dream Catchers have been in for over 6 weeks and still look and feel amazing! read more

This review is based on the salon's business practice. I bought 2 coupons from Groupon for haircut, deep condition and cut. Elena, the owner, did a fabulous job. I was very pleased. I mentioned I had another coupon and would see her in a month or so. Well, today I called to schedule an appointment and was told my Groupon would not be recognized. A Groupon coupon could only be used once. I asked why Groupon would sell coupons with the only restriction being only 3 could be purchased along with another 3 as gifts? Again, no reason. Then I was asked if I wanted to schedule an appointment and pay full price! I see this as a form of bait and switch. When I got home I realized i had to cut some hairs that were sticking out of my short layers. Also, instead of cutting the face framing layers straight, she added tiny layers in that layer...definitely not what I asked for. So frustrating because I went in thinking it was 75 dollars, but turns out the new price is 95, and my haircut was super simple and not worth that price. And on top of that, when I took a picture of the products she used (like I have done plenty of times and NO ONE has ever had an issue with that) the owner and the frowny chick looked at me as if I was shoplifting. They got so pissed and made me feel really uncomfortable. Can somebody inform her it is legal to price shop and take pictures of ANY product we want? I should have done this review the first time I went there because it was worse! Elena literally told me: stop talking about the length of the layers... so boring, I don't want to talk about that anymore. I was in shock she actually was shutting me up like that. I brought my daughter here for a bayalage and had a bad experience. We were there for almost 5 hours. My daughters hair was green on the ends and very brassy on the top. The stylist was very sweet and she did try her best to fix it. The place is very nice inside and I would have been happy if my daughters hair was not one color now. It is completely brassy from root to end, only a few days later. My problem is.... don't charge NYC prices if your staff cannot perform top stylist services. I do not recommend #belanovasalon for hair color. Especially since my daughter pointed out a picture on their Instagram and the stylist told us that photo was for inspiration and that it was not done at their salon. REALLY? We came there thinking that was work Belanova Salon did. That in my opinion is sculduggery and plagiarism. read more

Followed over my hair stylist Liz, as she was new to this salon. She does amazing work with my hair , specializes in bobs and pixies . She also does my color which she nails every time. Knowing her work was good, I was also really impressed with how beautiful the salon is. The staff is very friendly. Jerry, the receptionist, was very welcoming to me and the other hair stylist greeted me as if I was their own. Terrible Experience....AGAIN (see the previous review where Elena responded that according to my yelp name I had never been to the salon). I have NEVER had a positive experience at this salon. Every time Elena has done my hair, I've had to come back and have one of her stylist's "fix" it. She rushes through the service every time, and the results are disappointing. My most recent visit was no exception. I needed a keratin treatment and thought since the salon was offering a Groupon, I would give it one last try. Long story short, I regret going, and the experience and results were not worth the savings. I took off work to arrive on time for my 10 am appointment. I was Elena's first client of the day. She casually walked into the salon 20 minutes late while talking on the phone. At 10:30 am, 30 min LATE, she walked over to me and said, "I'm here now; I was on a call earlier.". I would have been understanding if she apologized for running late. I figured I'd stay for my appointment since I arranged my day around it. The receptionist called me back to wash my hair. It was a less than ideal experience. Every time she scrubbed my scalp, I felt her claw-like fake nails digging into my scalp. It was not a relaxing experience and instead made me want to jump out of the shampoo chair. I reminded myself to make the best of it AND that I was here to use my Groupon for a service my hair needed. After my hair was washed, Elena met me back at her chair. She immediately said, "I remember you.". I was surprised Elena remembered me since it had been years since I was last in the salon. Based on her response from my previous yelp review, according to her records, I was never in the salon. She quickly ran a comb through my hair and tried to sell me some additional services and hair products. I declined. Then Elena quickly slapped on some keratin. Next was the WORST PART of the entire experience. Each time she ran the straightener through my hair, it snagged my hair, then ripped it out of my scalp. The first couple of times this happened, I didn't say anything. I didn't want her to feel bad and figured she would slow down and adjust her technique or switch straighteners. She did not. After a few more times of her running the straightener through my hair and ripping out hair each time, I finally said, "ouch," and winced a little. She said, "Oh, you have a sensitive head like me." If by a sensitive head you are referring to the fact it hurts when you repeatedly rip the hair out of my scalp, then yes, I would say I have a sensitive head. At that point, I was super frustrated and told her, "when you are running the straightener through my hair, it's pulling my hair out and hurts a lot." Elena said, "I don't know why it's doing that?". She looked at the tool and then continued straightening, snagging, and then pulling out my hair at its root with each pass of the straightener. I waited a few weeks to write my review to see how the actual keratin treatment held up. Typically I pay $250-$300 plus tip, and the service takes 2.5 hours. With my Groupon (not including tip), my keratin treatment with Elena was $80, and she spent 25 min on my hair. I waited four days to wash my hair (my standard practice after Keratin) and then washed my hair once weekly. Three weeks later, it feels like most of the keratin treatment is no longer in my hair. I'm not sure if it's because of the product she used or how quickly she rushed through the process, but I would not recommend the service at Bellanova. I have finally had enough bad experiences at Bellanova that I've lost my patience and will not be back. The location is very convenient, and a Groupon makes the service reasonable. At this point, I wouldn't go back if my service was free. I'd encourage anyone considering going to Bellanova to read through the reviews and not just go off my experience alone. read more

Baylage was alright. Elena didn't do the foil technique so as you can imagine the coloring isn't blended well. She went straight to cutting my hair without discussing in detail what I wanted and what she thought would be best. It was the quickest hair coloring I've ever had, and by that I mean she didn't take the time to do it as an art. My hair looks "ok" it's not horrible by no means but for the price it was not worth it and I would not return. I've been to place out of state for half the price, and received compliments the day of and even 8 months after when most of it had grown out. I was putting my hair half up to curl and noticed this huge uneven lopsided square streak, that just makes me thankful I don't wear my hair like that. I Would not recommend her if you want the BEST coloring. It's fine for a short term and if you have low expectations. read more
