brand new kitchen and space managed by the Belfor team.

Belfor of Tukwila recently remediated and restored my property. I had a massive flooding in the first floor of my house. They did an excellent job of dealing with all my concerns about what the flooding could've done to my house and the processes they used to properly remediate. They provided great customer service, especially in dealing with all my questions and concerns, so I felt confident my home was clean. Additionally, I had some initial issues with the project manager for the restoration part of the work. I called my sales person, Michael Markson, and he worked with me on the challenges I was having. Ultimately, Belfor replaced the project manager and made proper amends for lost time. There aren't many companies that will stand behind their work in that way and be fair about things. I also had a really challenging space to work with to set up a full kitchen in a way where I could maximize the counterspace. The Belfor team took a couple of hours brainstorming with me on how we could make it work. I really appreciate their expertise and their creative thinking! Very happy with the results. I highly recommend Belfor for remediation and restoration work, in particular, Michael, and their project manager, François.

Tree Damage from January 2019 Seattle Windstorm
    Jason S.

This review is specifically about the process of having an estimate done to restore our roof, exterior and some ceiling surfaces and fixtures inside our house after a cedar tree fell on our house due to a windstorm. My estimator was Collin Daviscourt and I felt that it was worth the effort to pass on a good word about a helpful individual within the company. It was pretty stressful dealing with the insurance company about what was and wasn't going to be covered in the insurance claim. Let's just say that it is not in the best interest of the insurance company to be very thorough in their assessment of all the damage from the falling tree. Collin came over within 2 days of my first call and performed an estimate, taking about an hour. He climbed on my roof, took plenty of pictures and explained to me every item that he would request to be replaced/fixed and why. He went into my attic, looking at the trusses and roof from the inside, pointing out damage that was likely missed by the insurance adjuster. He explained the process of how a punctured ceiling from tree damage would be fixed and how the furniture inside the house would be protected or moved to a safe place during construction. We checked places of the house I would have never thought to look for potential damage from a tree, including all downstairs windows, bathrooms and the garage. I appreciated him explaining his thought process, what he was looking for and taking detailed pages of notes. After the estimate, he offered to work directly with the insurance company to advocate for full coverage for all items damaged due to the tree fall. And true to his word, he followed up with the insurance company repeatedly and consistently. In the end, the insurance company approved a bid from a different restoration company but Collin Daviscourt was there every step of the way, helping me understand how to communicate with the insurance company and following up with the insurance adjuster. I felt that his persistence in presenting evidence of additional damage really helped the insurance company approve a much larger settlement than they initially offered on day one. (over $12K, yes twelve thousand, worth of additional damage that the preliminary adjuster's evaluation did not include) So my suggestion to others Yelpers who deal with these types of insurance claims: do not take the first offer from your insurance company. Even if you get decide to get multiple bids, I wouldn't hesitate bringing in Belfor to evaluate the damage and be part of the discussion and advocate on your behalf. Thankfully, I did decide to because it lead to a fairer settlement for us even though Belfor didn't end up getting approval from the insurance company.

Matthew is one of the very few people I have dealt with that understands business is still about people. He educated me on my specific situation and proposed an honest assessment along with a solution to my specific problem. In addition to lowering my anxiety and solving my problem, he went above and beyond by providing me with ideas and further insight on options to help identify water leaks before they turn into a nightmare. He also made recommendations on contractors for my kitchen restoration as well as home owner insurance companies. I've never met anyone as passionate about mold as Matthew. Enthusiastically, he explained how mold grows and what it does in order to multiply and protect itself. It was actually quite fascinating. There is no question Matthew gets it. He understands his business and he understands people. He listens to his customers, is empathetic, and he charges fairly. He responded immediately, listened, reduced my anxiety, educated me, and executed his work flawlessly. He is my "go to" for anything water damage related moving forward. ServPro who?!

So, when my portable AC leaked onto my flooring last night, I knew who I was going to contact. I called when they opened, and found out that he was booked for the next week. I decided to send him a message to see if there was a company he would recommend to me. He actually responded immediately and said that he'd be able to squeeze me in! You have no idea how grateful I was to hear that. He gave me two time options, and called me when he was on the way. I had no idea how much water had made its way into my flooring, so I was preparing myself for the worst. Turns out, it didn't end up being a catastrophe! Matthew used a thermal camera, and a moisture meter to inspect for moisture on the floor/subfloor and flex ducting. Once again, he was thorough at his job, and in his communication. It's difficult finding people that take pride in their work, are trustworthy, and do a great job. I've had quite a few companies do various types of jobs for me, and there are only two who I'd recommend. Mathew with Puget Sound Water Rescue is one of them!

The night before floor…read morecontractors were scheduled to come to our home, David cold-called us about replacing the flooring. He was able to come out that evening to provide an estimate, which we appreciated and accepted. We later discovered that this visit resulted in an after-hours charge of nearly $500, something we were not aware of at the time. While at our home, David discovered that some areas had not been completely dried by the first company. Because we had an active insurance claim, and with our permission, he immediately arranged for his crew to continue the drying process. At first, we felt he was knowledgeable, responsive, and genuinely focused on our needs. Our insurance company requested that a third party inspect and confirm some of the issues David had identified. David insisted on being present during that inspection. The situation was uncomfortable, and we were later surprised to see an additional $119 charge for his involvement. Five days later, we contacted the original company about their failure to completely dry the affected areas. They acknowledged the issue, wanted to make things right, and asked for the opportunity to earn our business back. We therefore notified Green Planet that we were ending their services. Unfortunately, this is when our experience changed considerably. The tone and attitude toward us became harsh and uncomfortable. Although we had understood that the mitigation work would be handled through our insurance claim, we were suddenly told the bill needed to be paid by us immediately. We were also contacted by a collections company and told that if the bill wasn't paid by Friday, a lien would be placed on our home. We were disappointed by the way the situation was handled. Our initial impression was that customer needs were the priority, but once we decided not to continue using the company, we felt the relationship changed dramatically. Our experience is ultimately a reminder to carefully review all charges and understand the payment terms before allowing work to begin--especially when insurance is involved. Updated Review -- Originally 2 Stars We initially left a 2-star review because of our experience with Green Planet during a water-damage situation. We had significant concerns about several charges on our invoice, the handling of our insurance claim, and the way our relationship changed after we decided not to continue with the company. After seeing our reviews, Green Planet reached out to us and asked for the opportunity to make things right. We had a lengthy conversation, they listened to our concerns, and they offered to refund $500, which represents the charges we had disputed. I appreciate that the company was willing to listen and take action. Because they made an effort to address our concerns, I have changed our rating from 2 stars to 3 stars. That said, I do want to be honest that this resolution came only after we had posted our concerns publicly. We had previously tried to resolve the issues directly, including asking the company to work with us while our insurance claim was being processed, but we did not feel heard at that point. I'm glad we were eventually able to have a productive conversation and reach a financial resolution. My hope is that Green Planet will take this experience to heart and improve communication with customers from the beginning--especially when dealing with stressful situations involving water damage and insurance. Our original experience was disappointing, but I do appreciate their willingness to come back to the table and try to make it right.

This was a stressful situation, and instead of being guided clearly, I felt taken advantage of. From the beginning, you are asked to sign documents stating you are responsible for anything insurance does not cover, but there was no clear or thorough explanation of what that actually meant. Once it was known that insurance was involved, it genuinely felt like the focus shifted to maximizing the claim rather than being transparent with me as the homeowner. The final bill exceeded the "not to exceed" amount I was originally given. When I questioned it, I was told the overage was due to tax but that was never clearly disclosed upfront as being outside of that cap. I repeatedly asked for a detailed, itemized breakdown of charges (labor, equipment, and scope), and never received documentation that clearly supported the final invoice. Communication was extremely poor. I had to follow up multiple times, was told I would receive updates, and those follow-ups were often missed. That lack of responsiveness made an already stressful situation even worse. I ultimately paid the full balance to move on, but I walked away feeling the process lacked transparency and took advantage of a stressful situation. I would absolutely not recommend this company. Save yourself the stress and either go through your insurance provider directly or work with a smaller, local business that values transparency, communication, and putting the customer first.

They abandoned the project half way through, we believe because of the way they were handling their sub contractors. This was hands down the worst business experience we have ever had in the Washington area. The employees lacked basic business etiquette, and the Project Manager and Finance Manager were incredibly rude to both me and my wife. Key Issues: Mis-diagnosed the issue big time even after we repeated telling them the root cause and area of the problem. We feel they intentionally did that to increase the scope of the work. They tore down upstairs bathroom completely without even properly checking the root cause. There were no issues with the upstairs bathroom. They did not tear down the actual place where it was leaking, this was unbelievable to us. Drove us completely nuts. Abandonment: They left the job halfway through and never bothered to check back with us, failing to complete the work they promised. Hostile Behavior: Instead of resolving the incomplete work, they threatened us and sent a lien letter to our house. This aggressive approach is unacceptable. Project Manager yelling and screaming on the calls with all filthy, profanity and inappropriate words. Staff Turnover: They fired more than three employees who had been dealing with us very nicely, which further disrupted the project. Subcontractor Issues: Even the subcontractors they hired seemed unhappy and difficult to work with. Advice: Do not trust these guys with any big jobs. If you value your peace of mind and want a project actually finished, look elsewhere. I have the pictures and videos of our project to prove their Incompetency and also the threatening letter they sent us Hope you guys understand. I was all ready to file a case BBB. I will soon post the photos of the sloppy job they did.

My phone calls went unanswered for days, and it often took more time for him to respond to my emails. I want to recognize the first crew they sent because they were professional, hardworking, and did an excellent job with the work they were assigned. However, whenever I asked questions about the project or what the next steps were, they consistently told me they were waiting for Keith to respond. It became clear that he wasn't just ignoring me--he wasn't communicating with his own crew either. When Keith asked me to sign the completion certificate, I declined because I wasn't convinced the work had actually been completed. No one had done a final walk through. I'm very glad I trusted my instincts. A second crew was later sent out, and that's when I learned the insulation removal had only been partially completed. The job had been left unfinished.
