I am so happy with the work done for me They may not have luxury on the wait room, but the work he does is superb! It's like one stop shop dental work! I had extraction of my molars and bone graft, implant building a tooth and crown No pain no problem, everything done with the best equipment and best time manner. I feel so lucky to have found him ! It's not easy to find a good dentist that is so so good and efficient. My mom was waiting more than an hour - she had a appointment - however after more than one hour waiting, receptionist saying that there is no doctor to see patients today and asking to come back next time. My son had his tooth fractured while playing basketball and needed to see Dr. Choi with urgency over the weekend. My son recently had his braces put in, so the wires were bent and we needed to see a dentist who had experience in both general dentistry and with braces. Dr. Choi thoroughly evaluated my son's condition using advanced imaging machines (not just x-rays), extracted the bent wires, reset the broken tooth, and gave him a special splint to stabilize the broken tooth and to give the damaged tooth a chance to survive. Dr. Kim who is a root canal specialist was also there and gave me a detailed consultation about next steps and potential future outcomes a few months to a few years from now. I personally have seen my share of dentists in my time but I've never met such knowledgeable, capable, and caring dentists. I was thoroughly impressed with their expertise and the care my son received that went above and beyond my expectations before I walked into their office. As an in-debt doctorate student, I really appreciate that Bell Dental accepts pretty much any insurance. My old dentist stopped taking my insurance, and the next few dentists I tried in the East Bay would rush cleanings and constantly upsell. Bell Dental has great dentists and staff with thorough and efficient care. You don't have an assigned dentist, so whoever is free first takes you in. This means you get seen super quick!! The dentists tend to be younger graduates, which is a good thing. They're thorough and practice at the full range of their education. They're great at explaining dental issues you have like teeth grinding, etc. Sometimes it can be a hit or a miss if you get a newer dentist, but pretty much all of them are very skilled. My old retainers didn't fit well after not wearing them consistently, so I was curious about the cost of a night guard. They were super quick in giving me a price quote then & there (with insurance, which can take forever to figure out), explaining the process, and scheduling me for a final fit. Costs also seem very transparent and reasonable, especially for the quality of dental care. Front desk staff are also capable. You get text reminders before your appointment or a call if there's an issue with your insurance. There's plenty of parking and in a convenient location close to other plazas. After a cleaning, I typically get boba or some good eats around the area. read more

I called them last week on Monday for a dental exam, cleaning, and X-rays. I asked if they were accepting new patients and how soon I could be seen. They scheduled me for an appointment two days later. I called around many dentists in my area in San Mateo county, not able to get a cleaning appointment any sooner than six months out for new patients. My initial intuition was that this place must be lousy to have such immediate access to a cleaning appointment. They scheduled me for the first appointment after lunch break at 1:30pm and asked me to arrive on time to fill out new patient paperwork. The receptionist was friendly and professional, and quickly processed my paperwork. Within minutes I was already being seen by the dentist. I believe he was Dr. Andrew Doan, but I cannot recall. He was friendly, professional, knowledgeable, experienced, had great bedside manner, and quickly got to work on my teeth. The dental hygienist processed my x-rays quickly while sitting in the patient chair. It was convenient not to have to go to another room for x-rays as is typical in most dental practices. The dentist came in and followed through with an exam. I asked him to look at my sealants and he showed me that one needed to be replaced and another needed to be repaired. Within minutes, he said my insurance would cover the procedure and that he could do it right then if I wished, so he proceeded. In the process of removing the cracked sealant, he discovered a partial cavity which he removed before filling in with a new sealant. A final examination, reviewing x-rays and photos of my mouth together, we agreed it was time to do the cleaning. My entire experience at this practice was between 75 and 90 minutes. That was not only fast, but very efficient and effective. My teeth feel and look great and I had great customer service all around. I scheduled my next appointment on the way out. I'm happy to recommend this place to anyone who needs general dentistry. I'm not aware of what other services they offer but I'm sure they do, and I'm sure that you would probably receive the same kind of excellent treatment and care. read more

Finding a good dental office for my children was not easy. We were referred to Bell Dental by a family member and hesitated to go because we live in Oakland and so it would be a trek for us. I am so glad we gave Bell Dental a try. We absolutely LOVE the service. Everyone is so warm and welcoming, from the front desk staff to the dentist who took such great care of my child's teeth. I believe his name is Dr. Xiu. The two times we have been there we were assisted by a very nice young lady at the front desk. She handled our check-in so efficiently and was super nice. Everyone looked like they enjoy being there, which makes the feeling and experience very positive. I would absolutely recommend Bell Dental and definitely don't mind making the extra distant drive. :) read more

I came to this office for an exam. I had no pain and knew I needed a cleaning and a couple of fillings but I was sooooo taken aback when the dentist told me I needed 2 ROOT CANALS and 3 CROWNS! I am a dental assistant so i showed my X-rays to a couple of the dentists I work with and they all said I just needed fillings AND NOT ROOT CANALS AND CROWNS! It's horrible the this dental office tries to rob people of their money by doing unnecessary treatment! BEWARE OF INEXPERIENCED DENTIST!! I had the worst care here since Dr Tran left. There are dentist fresh out of school I believe. I had one young dentist & she clean my teeth & was drilling the surface of them with I think the wrong cleaning tool. It gave me scratches all over my teeth & back molars permanently!! In fact one of the back molars she filed I ended up getting a cavity on the base where she was so-called cleaning it. So when I called in I asked for a senior dentist. They told me they could book me for that and then when I came in this appointment today they repeat it that I had a senior dentist appointment. I waited here almost 2 hours only to be told that the senior dentist were busy and that would be a lot longer to wait and they didn't know how long. Waste it my time!! Be careful of the care you get here because that young dentist ruined my teeth and I ended up having to pull one of my molars because she weakened the tooth by filing it and exposed the tooth. I take really good care of my teeth. Every time I came in to see Dr Tran he would say A+ for taking care of your teeth. And unfortunately this office is so secretive about everything and their doctors and whose senior and who is not. They will not even give me the name of Dr Tran as I wouldn't expect for them to let me know where he is at least give me his full name! New patient, booked an appointment through the phone and set up an appointment date. Left early to go to the dental appointment only to find out that they couldn't verify my insurance. I told them my new insurance and they still couldn't verify, so, I called my insurance provider and they said it's active. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE, I don't think they go above and beyond to keep their customers since they have so much to keep up with. This place is over crowded = lack of quality. Now I lost time and money on an appointment that's as simple as letting me know that they couldn't verify my insurance through the phone rather than walking in and taking time off work. read more

I'm still coming to Bell dental. I'll be brutally honest and say as a 60-year-old man seeing young people who are likely fairly new out of school I'm a little nervous. I found all of the doctors to be very professional. I appreciated one doctor in particular, Dr. Morales, as he was both kind and brutally honest in a way in which Dentists have never been. I continue to return and I appreciate that they're always timely. The dental assistants are generally efficient, well organized, and know what they're doing. Like any institution everybody's not always perfect :-) this isn't Nob Hill and so there's some occasional wonkiness. That's called life. Be careful get a better or second opinion somewhere else before you decide to agree with the diagnosis this place gives you . Because what I've seen the doctors don't really know what they are doing. And all they want to do more is take your teeth out so you pay for replacement of bone and then want to charge you for implants that most insurance do not cover and the rush service is awful. for orthodontics Service i saw they also take your good teeth out to finish fast and don't care if later on you have big gaps if you stop wearing your retainers. I ask another office and they told me is the most common thing some places do to finish treatment fast but not for a good reason. As you can see this place only sees the $$$ in you and most of their staff don't have experience yet or are graduates it seamed. I can see that we are their Guinea pigs and are practically practicing on us. From what we experienced this is no more than a school practicing with a bunch of people going to you and practice in your room. so unprofessional. I had many dental cleanings in my life. I had full X-rays, exam and cleaning all done in about 30 minutes. The only tool used was the water jet sprayer. There was no scraping session and no flossing after. No new toothbrush or dental goodies after. EDIT: There was no teeth polishing too with that plastic spinning tool where you can choose the flavors at certain dentists. So -1 star After the session, you go back to the front to book your next cleaning. No reminder cards, print outs, or email or text reminders received. This review is after 30 + minutes of leaving the place. During the exam the dentist did point out to no brush too hard at the back to prevent further gum recession. That's a plus. There's also flies in the lobby and dental care area. That's something that needs to be addressed. read more

If I could I would give them 10 STARS!!! Let me tell you why. I came in a mess teeth cracking and in need of many many root canals because when I was a child I had mecury fillings put in and they started failing me. Insurance only pays like $1500 a year. I ended up paying $12,000 cash to get my smile perfect and I didn't have to get any teeth removed. They saved all my teeth. The dentists who gave me the best care possible was Dr. Kim who is a root canal specialist and Dr. Tran who restores your smile. Dr. Kim is so gentle and soo nice and caring I fell asleep during all of my root canals and I had at least 5 or more. Then Dr. Tran took over my care and removed all the mercury from my teeth big big fillings and then crowned them all. My bite is perfect. Teeth are PERFECT. And I must mention before this 7 month journey I HATED going to the dentist. I was always so scared. The care I received without being put under. Only pain relief was the shot that they use to numb you. If you want excellent care go here. Take it from a big baby that use to be scared of the dentist. They cured me of my fear by being kind and caring to me. Thank you Bell Dental...Also the people working at the front make you feel so welcomed! read more

Dr. Kim endodontist is especially skillful and confident. She cares and listens about patient and works out options based on your condition. That's positive about this place. However after I expressed my concern and discomfort, they reached out to me and offer me another chance. Even though the lady on the phone the day before said that as long as I had my Medicaid number I'd be good. I flew from LA to the Bay for a front dental implant procedure by Dr. Choi. Dr. Choi and his colleagues provided me fantastic care. Dr. Choi informed me of a couple potential complications in my upper jaw, and flexibly adapted the treatment plan. The other dental clinics that I visited prior to seeing Dr. Choi did not inform me of such complications. I'm very glad to have done my first complex procedure under the care of Dr. Choi. read more

Went in to have my teeth checked and I regret the whole experience. It take forever to go through the intake process as well as getting an x-ray and cleaning. I didn't like the fact that I had to deal with so many staff members and they were not on the same page. It was like they were not communicating with each other and were asking me what needed to be done. My job is to pay not tell you what you need to do. When the dentist finally came in, he performed filings on a couple of my teeth but during the process cut my tongue! Talk about ouch! I was noticeable bleeding. He kept apologizing and even offered to give me a Starbucks $20 gift card. I guess he thought that would make it all better, well I don't drink coffee. Once I got home I realize why he was kissing ass, he cut the hell out of my tongue! After this visit my teeth are worst from when I came in. I now have: - tooth sensitivity (never had before, thanks!) - Pain when trying to floss between the teeth he did fillings on I didn't even bother to go back to this place, they've done enough damage and the relationship could never be repaired. My partner is also complaining about the work that they completed on his teeth and we had different dentist. The only plus I would say is they have a parking lot, if that matters. read more

I came in for a wisdom tooth extraction - only two on the left side. This happened today. I've come here for cleanings - and sealants during my teenage years -for years now. I've had pretty straight to the point and very professional. Now at 23 years old, I have all four wisdom teeth, which the bottom two were only poking out slightly through the gums and the top came in fully, but there wasn't enough space for it. So because I have Denti-Cal, I opted to get the first two on my left side, which had been giving me some trouble with a nasty earache the past few weeks. All was well: I was relaxed, I had just meditated prior to starting - I meditate every morning - and my blood pressure was really great (they said after they checked it). I got my mouth numbed up and was ready to go. I kid you not, out of nowhere, I got this huge *random* paranoia right as my dentist started to put pressure on my tooth - it felt like the tooth right next to my wisdom tooth - and I asked if he was "sure" that was my wisdom tooth because I started to get nervous. Every time I felt pressure as he was starting - no extraction had happened at this point - I kept getting antsy. I'm usually pretty calm at the doctors ( even as a child ). I'm not sure what was going on, but after me questioning him for the third time, he got exasperated and told me "I've been doing this for 15 years, this is your wisdom tooth. You let me know when you're ready." And he left the room with me sitting there with a numb side of my face. Well... I was already there so I was like I gotta finish this. He comes back, rolls his eyes, and asks if I'm ready. I say yes. After fidgeting a few more times before he could get in my mouth, he was finally able to start the extraction of my top left wisdom tooth. It actually didn't hurt at all, but there was an intense amount of pressure though. A little uncomfortable. When the tooth was out and I caught a feeling of the empty socket - I FREAKED OUT BIG TIME. I can't explain it; I thought he had extracted two tooth instead of one, which obviously couldn't have been the case but it felt like two empty sockets (turns out the one next to it was just numb and I couldn't feel it). My anxiety shot up through the roof - to the point of crying, going into the fetal position, and having a panic attack which resulted in uncontrollable breathing and my hands trembling. He asked me again if I still wanted to go through with this, but since I had already gotten one out, I knew it made the most sense to get the bottom one out too. Now the bottom left wisdom tooth was the one with the slight infection and close to nerves as shown on my x-rays at my consultations. I got another shot after having pain the first time. The second time I raised my hand because of pain, and was asked "Are you sure that it's pain or pressure? Cause you're most likely feeling pressure." I said maybe, and they went again, with much more pain. I said it hurts, and he asked why I hadn't raised my hand, and I was then given my last and final dose of local anesthetic. By then I was crying, and trembling, and an assistant came inside to help. She held my hand, but he told her to let go "if she wants it". I clearly needed the comfort. After the whole thing was done, he literally walked out and told the assistant to "refer her to Highland Hospital for her right side, she can't do this again here." And he walked out without saying anything. The assistant gave me all of my antibiotics and ibuprofen, directions to have a safe recovery, and gauze after he left without saying a word. She also scheduled a follow up for me for the next week. I was so embarrassed, confused, and felt like my heart was going to beat out of my chest. I kept apologizing to her for how I handled myself, she said it was fine but looked a little annoyed as well. I'm not sure what his name was because my mouth was numb by then and I didn't get a chance to ask and he didn't introduce himself (which I thought was a little strange). He was very indifferent, almost irritated with any pain or discomfort I could've been having. I wasn't trying to question his abilities, I just wanted to ensure my health was in the right hands, regardless of the person and I was paranoid as hell after my mouth was numbed. After a little research, I realized I could've had some adverse reactions to the local anesthetic, which can cause trembling, uncontrollable crying, and the like. And I'm very dumbfounded and confused to why I was treated with such animosity for something that was very clearly out of my control. If you don't believe me, check out a few links on google. Look up "panic attack during local anesthesia" and you'll get the answer. No one told me this could've been the issue, which is equally strange. I was so freaked out, and I felt terrible after. I'm just glad I was able to tough it out and get the two out since it had already been causing me so much pain. read more

I've been going to Bell Dental the last year and a half for wisdom teeth extractions, orthodontic treatments, and general cleanings and the dentists and general staff there have been incredibly helpful and efficient every step along the way. This is a highly frequented center by a lot of people in the area and you can see the staff working busily during your visit. However, even with their busy routine the dentists there still manage to give every patient the professional care and very friendly treatment along with informative instructions regarding your specific case and prognosis. For both my wisdom teeth extractions and orthodontic treatments they sat me down and explained very clearly about my options for treatment and about the particular specificities in my case. For anyone needing to go in during COVID you can rest assured that the staff there are very well prepared to receive patients in a safe environment. All the staff - not just the dentists were protected with appropriate equipment and patients are required to get their temperature taken and wait outside until they are called. And because of the efficiency with which they work you can be sure that you won't wait for a long time. read more

The man finished it within 20mins and all my teeth were bleeding！ This is something that never happens to me at other dentist offices! The trend here is if you have denti-cal, you'll likely get a 20 minute cleaning and a one minute dental exam. In that one minute exam, you'll probably need extractions because that's all that denti-cal covers. The other option is to pay out of pocket $2K for a crown on the tooth that they want to extract. How ironic? They want to put a crown on a tooth that they said should be extracted..seriously. In their minds, you probably don't have $2K because you have denti-cal, so they want you to say, okay, take the tooth out since it is covered by insurance. They do it immediately - give you local, yank it out really fast and hurry you out of there. So they fooled me once - I had a molar extracted..gone, poof, nadda. Then they tried the same trick on another molar a year later - they tell me that my molar needed to be extracted or have a root canal/crown. I said, oh okay and scheduled the root canal because I didn't want to lose another molar. A few days before my appointment, I emailed them asking to send me an xray copy of the molar that needed the crown. They told me they would, but never did. The day of my appointment, I told them I never got the email of the xray and I asked to show me the xray of the tooth on the computer screen. The dentist avoided me and the receptionist just ignored me until I ask again and again. The dentist finally came out to tell me to leave. Wow, I can't even read xrays, I just wanted him to explain what was wrong and pretend like the xray indicated a need for extracting it or saving it with the root canal and crown. Nope, he freaked out and said to leave and go elsewhere. And go elsewhere I did. I got a second opinion from a real dentist who checked and took xrays again because Bell Dental obviously does not want to share. The molar was perfectly fine. It was actually the premolar in front of that molar that had a small cavity. Got the small cavity filled and saved the molar! Never had issues with that molar again. Like wow, I wished I saved the other molar. He's in tooth heaven now crying that I didn't save him like I did with his brother molar. I'm sorry. This is why I wrote this review, to save the other brother molars in other mouths. read more

UPDATE: I gave this place another chance. One of my daughter's best friend's parent said that they love this place and said that they've been coming here for years. Was definitely skeptical, but still gave it a chance. PLUS, it's so close to my house. The ONLY qualm I have with this place is the front desk. If only the front desk customer service was changed and/or improved, I'd feel more confident with giving this place a solid 5 stars. I found them to still be pretty cold and...just not sure I'm confident in the skills and abilities of the male receptionist with glasses and short hair. I brought myself and my daughter and had a great experience with the dental assistant, hygienist, and doctor that helped us both out. I ended up having to come back for a filling and extraction and the doctor did it so quickly!! He was super informative and definitely makes you feel comfortable and that you're in good hands. Neddy checked me in and made me feel like im vip even tho my face was swelling an tooth was in concerning pain.
