Found this place by accident, was looking for another Bella's Salon LOL & I'm so glad that I found this place by mistake. My stylist name was Renee & im obsessed with her work ! I've had two other stylists before her since moving here & she is by far the best, third times the charm LOL. She makes sure she does what you want & also gives you suggestions to make your look even better than you pictured. She's very friendly, honest, trustworthy, profesional & makes you feel comfortable. She has been there for five years & doesn't plan on going anywhere any time soon so she's very available. That's the issue I was having with the other stylist, they were never available or moved. She works Monday-Saturday & contact info: 503 332 1947. Make your reservation today ! You won't regret it (: oh I forgot to mention my hair is thick, dry, long & mostly curly/wavey. DO NOT GO TO CLAUDIA for a women's styled cut. 1. Claudia charged me $60 for a dry hair cut, the price quoted on the website was $55 and up and I have short hair. For that price women's haircut appointments always include wash and style after. I've had dry cuts before, and they tend to be about $20 cheaper. 2. Claudia refused to look at photos that I brought to help illustrate the style I was looking for. I had spent the time and effort to bring 6+ photos on my phone and she never once looked at them or asked about the different elements of them, I should've just left then. But instead, I tried describing what I wanted which was a simple trim of the back of my hair to bring it up to an inverted bob style (super common) with layers for texture and lift. 3. She immediately started out cutting my bangs when I didn't even want those cut. And she didn't trim them to match the style I had she completely obliterated them and made them straight across ON A SQUARE FACE!!! OMG don't they teach you in year 1 of beauty school about face shapes and what not to do? Anyway, 4. Claudia did such a horrible choppy job cutting the back of my hair that I had to ask her to blend it better (no blending had been done whatsoever) and it looked terrible. Supercuts did a better job at $25. And when I got home I noticed that she missed a 1/2" section in the back that was sitting at least a 1/2 " lower than the rest so I had to even it out even more myself. 5. Claudia refused to style my hair afterward even when I'd asked her to curl it. And lastly 6. She complained the whole time about some other woman who was a repeat customer who never tipped her. That's just unprofessional and manipulative. I should've NOT tipped her as well as I did not feel her abilities or effort matched the price she charged. read more

I think Nicki is my new BFF when it comes to hair. A few months ago I really needed a haircut but was so busy it wasn't my highest priority. Bella Bliss is on my way home from work, and I stopped by on the off chance that they accept walk-ins. Nicki is such a doll! She invited me in, and I bookmarked a few pages in the hairstyle magazines while she finished her current client. We talked through the styles I chose, and she is one of the first stylists I've worked with who *really* understands what I want -- stylish, short, and easy to maintain -- and how to make it happen. Nicki also made a recommendation on styling my bangs that really works. Each session starts with a relaxing scalp massage, and I end up with a really hip haircut for a reasonable price. I just went back for my follow-up cut, and I am even happier with this one. I'll be back next month for color. The salon also offers manicures, spa pedicures and waxing services. Not a good experience. I have curly hair and have struggled to find someone in Portland that can give me a great cut. I explained to the stylist ( and owner) my hair type, took a picture and insured we had time to talk about what I had in mind, always stressing the cut was most important. I told her previous stylist dry my hair stick straight, then cut. This is great if my hair was actually straight, but it's not. Well, she picks up the dryer and proceeds to do exactly what I've just told her doesn't work. She tells me about her education and passion for her craft. Tells me how she's going to give my hair the right cut and proceeds to cut away. I left looking fine, but the next morning reality sets in....my hair was over layered and texturized. I take a dryer and struggle to get it tamed with very little success. I'm not looking to make my curly hair straight....just get a decent cut that's versatile. Lesson learned....now I'll be on the search for a stylist that specializes in curly hair. Hopefully with better luck. read more

I was in a dire need of a haircut. In fact, I've been so busy I finally found time to get a trim (I'm planning to grow out my hair). I was recommended by a friend to get a haircut here. And after seeing a bunch of my buddies get their new 'do' here, I had to see what the fuss was all about. I made an appointment with Nicki and she was able to accommodate me. The day I came in she was running a bit late because the heat to their building and water supply was not working (from the snow and cold wind during this Thanksgiving week!!!) and they had to get that fixed prior to taking in their customers. Things like these happen in life and Nicki was able to deal with the situation and accommodate her customers. While in the waiting area, she offers you a selection of complimentary drinks from coffee (Starbucks) to Hot Apple Spice drinks. There are also many magazines to browse through while you wait for your session. After my wait, Nicki was able to wash my hair and give a scalp massage as well as a hand massage. We talked about the vision of what I wanted my hair cut to turn out to be. She explained how she attends educational classes to continue to be on top of the newest trends and the "ins" with hair care/style/cuts. What I liked about Nicki is that she is so passionate in her work and makes sure you are satisfied with your hair cut. She wants to be sure what you want in your cut prior to her cutting it. I walked away feeling happy with my hair cut and she was also there to address any hair needs and concerns I had about styling. She used some of the products in my hair during my time session there and I was able to talk to her assistant about the prices and items after my cut. Bella Bliss Salon is decorated ultra girly chic and emits a pampering vibe. I would definitely go back for a cut here and highly recommend this place to anyone. read more

You can book on line but if you are looking for someone to help if you call don't hold your breath, a respirator would be needed for the long wait for a return call!! Went to see Paula a few weeks ago for an ombre. It had to be redone four times over the course of 5 hours. It still looks terrible. Uneven on both sides with one bright blond section that looks like I dipped my hair in a can of yellow paint. I recommend avoiding this studio/stylist. Date Visited: Saturday 5/14/11 I will admit that while I have liked some of the haircuts I have had in salons, I've never really cared for the stylist who has cut it. This may be the first time I've liked both! I even liked the salon itself. Thanks to Groupon, I found a $50 bargain for $25. The salon is located just across the street from Sunset Lanes bowling alley, so you might not even realize it's there. I walked in and was immediately welcomed. I said I had a 4:30 with Renee and found out it was Renee who welcomed me. She offered me a drink and told me it would just be a few minutes. I looked through a magazine while sipping my Diet Pepsi. When Renee was ready for me, we walked to her station and talked about what I wanted. She looked at the photo and made sure that we were thinking the same thing. She washed my hair and then continued to keep checking that she understood what I wanted. Even while cutting my hair, she kept giving me option after option to make sure I was getting exactly what I wanted. At one point, she had cut my bangs long and then asked if I wanted to keep that or cut them to be even with the other side. I wasn't crazy about the longer bang (even though that's what I had asked for), so I got to change it up and even it out with the other side. She helped style it and then asked it was okay if she called over someone else to suggest other ideas. They talked about the cut and Renee made a few tweaks. She took her time with my hair and allowed me to make every critical decision while giving me her opinion here and there. I've received many compliments on my haircut and look forward to my next cut with Renee. If you know what you want and it's straight-forward, make an appointment for anytime. However, if you're unsure and you need a little guidance, I recommend making yourself her last client of the day. read more

I just got home from the salon, and made it a point to write Renee Schulz a review right away! I've had my hair cut with her before, and I have wavy-curly medium bodied hair. She always gets my hair just right! Today I went in with the intention of having my bleached out, dry hair (under layers) cut off because it was so dry. I wanted to keep the length though, so Renee suggested I add color to it. We put this amazing new plum color in (I have black hair) and it looks so pretty! Cindy Lutz has been my and my 4 daughters stylist for years. She is very thoughtful in wanting to understand exactly what we want with our hair cuts and is a great communicator. Every cut I get from her is great and always has a wonderful grow out phase too. She is very thorough and likes to make sure you get what you want, even when my teenagers asked for something 'non traditional' like pink color or shaved sides. She is willing and able to do whatever we ask. I am happy with her location at Bella Bliss as it is a very nice salon and easy to get to. read more

I booked an appointment two days in advance with Claudia, I spoke to her for about 30mins over the phone explaining what I wanted and even mentioned that I am black, just so she has an idea of my hair texture. Claudia told me how great she is at doing braids, after the call I texted her a picture of the hair style I wanted and the color I wanted. A day before my appointment I spoke to her again to confirm everything. When I arrived she was late (which wasn't a train smash) then she started trying to do my hair but it became clear she didn't know what she was doing, I started questioning her about it and she ended up phoning different people to help as she didn't know how to braid my hair. First off this review is only on customer service, since I gave up trying to get an appointment kept there. My first appointment was made online, which the girl canceled. Then she texted me and asked for a reschedule the next day. I showed up and waited 40 minutes, (because there was no one at the front desk,) until my mother in law finally grabbed someone's attention to ask when my hairdresser would be in. Then when she finally came over she claimed that their website had been down and was double booking people. That's all fine and great except we made this second appointment over text. I will not be going back, and I wouldn't recommend this place to a friend either. read more

This review is specifically for Nancy. I went to her for the first time with hair that was all one length, but uneven from grow-out. I asked for a sharp a-line cut, which is how i typically wear my hair. I asked that she leave it a little longer in the back so i could tuck it behind my ears on days i don't feel like flat ironing. I also asked that she thin it out a bit as i have alot of thick hair. All was going well until the thinning. She decided it would be a good idea to thin from the outside top, rather than underneath, which left me with a ledge if short hair, only on one side, and thinned so much on that side that it looks like a shag.....again, only on one side. I went back but would not have her repair. Instead, Renee and the shop owner did everything they could to even out my cut, but were both baffled at the awful job Nancy had done, and couldn't really fix it. The hair that was thinned was too short, so am jyst hoping it will grow fast. Nancy is not an experienced stylist, and spent much of the time chatting with other stylists. I have been going to Nicki for 8 years for haircuts and highlights. I completely trust her with my hair. I recently had her cut about 10 inches off for a new, short style and I love it. There is never any anxiety, I know she'll always do a great job. She also did my hair for my wedding and I loved it. She takes her job very seriously and it is an art form to her, which I really appreciate. Bella Bliss is a clean, lovely salon. I've had my nails done there as well and recommend that service, too. I first met Renee through a Groupon, and I was so impressed with the time she took to give me the haircut I wanted. My hair is relatively simple, though, so I decided to REALLY test her by bringing in my 12-year-old daughter, who has very tricky hair and needs a more stylish do. Renee did such a fantastic job on my daughter--it was the best cut she had ever had! So, now my daughter is a regular with Renee. She is absolutely great.
