I like my eyebrows. They're thick, arched, black as espresso, and have been an integral part of my face for a loooooong time. But lately they've been a bit...disobedient. It's like they decided to start wandering about a bit, tired of their usual location right above my eye and sending feelers out to other parts of my face (mind you, I wouldn't be picked as an extra for the new Planet of the Apes movie, but *I* notice). Enter Bella Cara and the excellent reviews on Yelp. Thank you, Calivanilla et. al! Your reviews have helped me get my brows back on track, thanks to the truly charming Jill and her light-as-air touch with the waxing strips. When I went into the shop I said only two things: "I like my brows" and "Please don't make me look like the guys on 'Growing up Gotti'--which I DON'T watch but happened by while channel-surfing). Jill understood immediately, and with a few whisks of her magical wand gave me the most beautiful brows...that look like my natural brows, only more well-behaved. And hey, everyone, you'll not only get better brows, but you'll get two new girlfriends! Jill and Nicole (who does the tanning) were so nice that in the 10 minutes it took to get me browed we had swapped life stories and vowed to see each other at least once a month. I mean, it's kind of like the salon in "Legally Blonde." If I'd stayed any longer we would have broken out into a group shimmy dance and then beat up one another's bad boyfriends. Plus, I finally decided "What the hell, I'm in L.A., I'm gonna try one of them there fake tan thingees (Nicole can be very persuasive in the most charming way). So I went into a little room, got sprayed with some all-natural Australian magic spray, and two minutes later voila`! I was the most beautiful golden brown color, without having submitted myself to bad UVA rays, or risking massive leatheriness in my old age. Full discolosure: I have a naturally dark complexion (my ex used to call me "Goldie") and I always thought that anything except my own skin color would look fake. Nicole's magical tanning device makes me look like me, only with a bit more oomph. So, I've avoided that whole Beverly Hills fakey fakenstein look, and you get the little jolt of something kinda nice. Plus you can even get tan lines, if you so desire. I left here with lovely brows and very little redness (and that never happens for me!). Jill is darling. I hadn't had my brows done in forever, and I loved the results. She opted for tweezers instead of wax since my skin is really sensitive, and it hardly hurt at all! She runs about $30, I think. read more

Nicole gave me my first spray tan ever! It was two years ago and I had a wedding to attend, but had bruises all over my body from taekwondo sparring. My options were to wear black leggings and a long sleeved dress and basically look awkward or let my boyfriend/date's family think that he beat me (even more awkward). as the wedding date loomed I became increasingly bitter at my taekwondo instructor and worried about my black and blue state which wasn't going away no matter how many bananas i ate (i heard that potassium helps cure bruising...lies!). in desperation i decided to try covering it all up with a spray tan. nicole was awesome. i felt like the spray stuff made me smell like a coconut cookie (yum!) and she was very mindful of keeping it subtle. i came back a few more times (i loved the way being tan made my body look--so much more toned; and the tan covered all the blemishes on my skin, like the bruises but also spider veins, cellulite, scars etc,,,) and she always had the shade she had used in the past, that had worked for me, written down so i could trust to have consistent and pleasant results. i first went to jill just out of convenience (get two things done in one visit)--but was very resistant toward a 35$ eyebrow shaping. but now, after jill has been the only person that could rescue me from the atrocities committed against me by 15$ nail salon beauticians i'm finally realizing why you get what you pay for, and when it comes to something on the middle of your face, you really shouldn't eff around (if someone messes up your hair, you could get hair extensions, there are even eyelash extensions, but there are no eyebrow extensions, the only cure is to let nature take its slow, tedious, awkward it gets really messy before it can get better, course. she's really done wonders while not having much starting material (sob!) to work with. in addition to sketchy nail salons ive also had my eyebrows done at beba beauty and queen bee waxing (which are very good) but jill's handiwork is my favorite. Ive been going to Jill for years now and I couldn't be happier with her! I actually found her through yelp. I know its scary letting someone new do your eyebrows, but she is worth it. Yes she may be little bit more expensive than others but she's worth double. She shapes them perfectly every time. Nicole is the best Spray Tanner in town! I have tried Mystic Tan, Chocolate Tan...you name it, until I found Bella Cara. Nicole is super friendly and makes you feel extremely comfortable while you are standing there half naked. nicole is really personable and makes you feel really comfortable. im just disappointed that my tan was really splotchy in parts that it made me look like a leopard. i am SO careful when i get tanned and i just dont know what happened because it looks like it just got sprayed on unevenly. it sucks, too, because i usually get a tan for a special event or trip and its not like i have time to go back, get it redone, sleep on it, shower and make sure i dont smell weird. for 15 minutes at $45 each, i want a thorough job. read more

I too, like many of you here have gone to many eyebrow experts in Los Angeles including one that was recommended in Allure magazine and have paid anywhere from $45-65 to get my eyebrows shaped. This is the best brow place I've ever been to - Jill is fabulous and my eyebrows have never looked this good. She also told me I only needed to tweeze once a month. I Love Nicole from Bella Cara! I am super conservative when it comes to showing skin thus was reserved about getting a spray tan almost nude. I had no choice but to try it out when my best friend was having a bachelorette party in Vegas. I am super pale and didn't want to look like Casper in all the pictures so I decided to give Bella Cara a try. I had initially worn my bathing suit to the session but Nicole made me feel welcome and comfortable that I opted to wear the disposable undies instead. The process was quick and easy. I chose a #7. After leaving the shop, I was driving home and when trying to drink some water, I spilled a bit down my chest. I found out that it left a white streak mark because it was right after the spraying. Panicked, I called Nicole and she saw me right away. She re-sprayed me and comforted me by saying things can happen. The next day, I was off to Vegas and was complimented by friends about my glow. I loved my tan so much that I took my sister in for her first session. She loved it as much I did. I will definitely be going back for my "glow". read more

I was never really one to get them done and when I lived in Vegas I got them done and the chick jacked my brows up!!! I went to Bella Cara for a spray tan before a trip to NY. Nicole was very nice and explained everything and answered my hundreds of questions. She made me feel very comfortable. The tan lasted about a week, I was hoping a little longer but she said it would be that long so I can't complain. It wasn't really streaky but there were kind of lines at the edge of where the spray would hit. I wasn't wearing shorts at all so it wasn't too much of a problem. The second time I went was for a wedding, I think the first time was better. I wasn't quite as a dark as before and the edges were a bit more pronounced this time. Some parts were not quite as dark and didn't seem to be as even, which I partly blame on me since I kept talking during the spraying and I think I distracted Nicole a bit too much. I ended up buying the 8 pack and will definitely go back, but next time I will let her concentrate. The only cons would be, the price and the hours. 10:30-6 doesn't really allow for people that work during the week, especially when you have to shower and remove all makeup before you go. read more

I've been going to Kristen for my eyebrows and makeup for over 6 years now. She is incredible and I literally trust nobody else! She's never made my eyebrows too thin, or put my makeup on too heavy. By now she knows exactly what looks good on my face. I went in to have my makeup done for prom and I just told her what color my dress was and let her do her thing. It turned out incredible and I was so happy! She put individual lashes on me, and I swear they looked better then everyone else's fake lashes. Also, she uses the airbrush foundation. It's like a minute of a cool tingly feeling and my skin is even and glowing. She's always so gentle and never hurts me waxing, and if it is hurting she'll ask if I want to switch to tweezing instead. GO TO KRISTEN! YOU WON'T REGRET IT! I also love the makeup they sell in the store. Especially their lip gloss is amazing. Park on the street around the corner. There's metered parking. read more

She does not subscribe to the 'one brow fits all' school of brow shaping. I hate thin eyebrows on me (well, I hate them on everyone, thin is not in when it comes to your brows ladies! I'm not talking walk around with virtual caterpillars on your brow bones but pencil thin brows aren't flattering on anyone), and Jill has never once over waxed or over tweezed my brows by even a millimeter. Sakura does the best and most natural eyelash extensions. I highly recommend her. I have been "eyelash challenged" all my life, wearing false eyelashes, then moving to spending lots of time & money to approximate eyelashes to complete my eye make up look. No longer. Jill did an amazing job on my eyebrows! She was very friendly and I immediately felt at ease. She gave me the option of waxing or tweezing. I had no idea and she suggested tweezing which was perfect.
